If Brazil would have taken Engesa over, Engesa would have needed to be significantly reorganized and would probably be a shadow of what it was. The current one is much better. The Urutu, from the 70s/80s is a very basic machine and absolutely not up to schratch, cant protect against .50 machine gun, in doesnt have RWS, and overal just doesnt have all the equipment that modern standards require. Its effectively putting an M5 Stuart againts an M41 walker bulldog. In addition, the new platfrom will offer more customization possibilities as well. The Guarani is a significantly better vehicle than the Urutu in many aspects.
