In 1999, the Brazilian Army initiated a study to replace the EE-9 Cascavel and EE-11 Urutu, which were successful projects during the 70s and 80s. By the late 1990s, these vehicles were nearing 25 years of service and becoming obsolete. Due to the lessons learned from the peacekeeping missions, the Brazilian Army decided to create a new armored vehicle. In 2009, a partnership with IVECO was settled regarding the first units of the vehicle, now called VBTP-MR Guarani (Viatura Blindada Transporte de Pessoal - Média de Rodas, Armored Personnel Transport Vehicle - Medium on Wheels Guarani), being put into service with the Brazilian army in 2012. The project aims to deliver 1,580 units of the vehicle and its variations to the Brazilian ground forces by 2040. The Guarani is a modern low-cost armored vehicle, replacing its predecessors.

A few points to keep in mind when talking about brazilian military equipment is: 1. Brazil is a big country with a large variation in biomes, so equipment must be able to be easily transported and must be able to operate in different types of adverse conditions; 2. The military budget is way lower then necessary for it's needs, that means that equipment must be cheap to acquire, easy and cheap to fix, train and operate and must last for a long time since unit replacement might take decades; 3. The military need to at least try and keep up with the world's top military in order to participate in joint training operations and to serve as a dissuasion force in case someone thinks about "bringing democracy to Brazil", that means that equipment must have the most effective tech available and/or, at the very least, be able to receive upgrades as new tech is developed. When you keep that in mind, you can see why some countries look at Brazil when they need some good quality equipment but have a small budget

Doctrine. In Brazil, 6x6 cars are more used as transport and recognition vehicles (they are lighter and more agile). The 8x8 cars will be used as tank destroyers. Some 8x8 vehicles are already being evaluated, but the ones with the best chances are Italy's Centauro II and Finland's Patria AMV.

Why did Brazil allowed Engeser to go out of business, now they have to rebuild the capability again or buy it fro others, such as Turkey Russia or China. The western ones would be way too expensive and complex. You can only get so much protection from an APC or even a tank. The older APC may have weak points , but will the new ones be significantly better?
@blasekiller9733
@blasekiller9733 2 жыл бұрын
Because Engesa the way it was run was unsaveable and Brazil at the time was in a terrible financial crisis for about 10 years straight, Brazils defence industry was focused on exports, but eith the end of the cold war, that export market would collapse with cheap surplus equipment, and that effect really started to come into play after Engesa went bankrupt. Brazil for example bought Leopard 1s for about 400.000 US dollars a piece, and M60s for about 200.000 US dollars in the mid 90s. If Brazil would have taken Engesa over, Engesa would have needed to be significantly reorganized and would probably be a shadow of what it was. The current one is much better. The Urutu, from the 70s/80s is a very basic machine and absolutely not up to schratch, cant protect against .50 machine gun, in doesnt have RWS, and overal just doesnt have all the equipment that modern standards require. Its effectively putting an M5 Stuart againts an M41 walker bulldog. In addition, the new platfrom will offer more customization possibilities as well. The Guarani is a significantly better vehicle than the Urutu in many aspects.

Colossians 4 1. Masters, give to your servants that which is justice and equity, knowing that you also have a Lord in heaven. 2. Persevere in prayer, watching over it with thanksgiving, 3. Praying at the same time for us too, that God will open a door for us to speak, that we may speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also bound, 4. for me to show you how to speak. 5. Walk in wisdom with outsiders, making good use of every opportunity. 6. May your word always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you know how to respond to each one. 7. Tychicus, the beloved brother, faithful minister and I keep in the Lord, will let you know my situation; 8. which I send you for this same end, that you may know our state and he will comfort your hearts, 9. together with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you; they will let you know everything that goes on here. 10. Brazil has received Germans since the 19th century and the greatest flow was during the period between World War I and World War II. The Nazis who fled here after World War II fled here because it was good to hide. New cities being created, many small towns, remote places, to this day, the state is unable to inspect all places well (like most continental countries). *Anyway, they didn't work with the government, so much so that you can see that companies in the military and automotive industries (CBT, Gurgel, Agrale, etc) have made progress from having made a smaller and simpler and always increasing and making it more functional/complex. If not, we would have a panzer out of nowhere in 1960 haha Some different weapons out of "chronological order".*

@@yuri30027 Gonna try to answer you here, since i cannot do it on the original post. The only funny thing is the way you're seething in a broken english. It's really difficult to understand, but it shows that you cannot think outside your low IQ brain to grasp a very basic concept of a philosophical way of thinking and acting of many asian countries. Go google it and try to read about it in some articles. Rosana Pinheiro-Machado is an Brazilian anthropologist (since you cannot properly read english) and she has great books on this subject (and on the counterfeit subject as well), I'm sure if you put that tiny brain to work and look for it, you'll find a PDF. >So why doesn't Russia copy? And India, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Turkey and Indonesia, too? Open your goddamn google, brainlet. Where the hell do you think that the Russian TU-4s came from? Even the AK was a copy of the Garand action with design & features of a STG44. Even long range missiles are copied. As for India the Arjun MBT is very much inspired by the Leopard 2. Japan have always copied vehicles. Go take a look on what Type 61 and 74 are, not to mention their new Type 16. I won't go into every nation just to show you that everyone copies things and no one gives a sh1t. You're just stupid and a shill. >Do you really think they don't have the ability to research and produce their own weapons? I never said that, and now their own designs are coming to public, just like the Type 08 and their new MBTs (which are inspired by other modern vehicles, just like any nation does). >Do you have any proof that the doctrine is the same? Christ, you really are a special kind of brainlet huh? Use the google and you're going to find both doctrinal framework for the Stryker Brigade and Guarani Instruction manual for the Mechanized Rifle Platoon. >What was the last conflict that China's armed forces have even been involved in? Lmao. They have fought way more than Brazil that has two wars on their curriculum (but that doesn't mean anything). FYI, they've been involved in multiple Vietnamese wars, they have fought the Soviets (although in a small scale clashes) and the Indians. Now they are involved in Africa. But i see you still didn't get my point when i was referring that Brazilian Forces are not good.
