The ball was heading towards the goal - that is what the referee is interested in. .she's Not interested in some ambiguous rule about tucking your arms in. .

That was a bad hand ball call and critics of VAR should be pointing to the problem with offciating for why it is needed. Calls are at the whim of an official who is not necessarily even in position to make the call. The sideline or the head referee should have easily been able to see the Dutch player trying to fold herself up hands in to avoid being hit. Makes officiating look bad

@@stephenschaffner2387 That doesn't matter because it hit the back of her arm. VAR is needed for these big games. .Tomorrow I'll ask some football fans at work for their opinion.

@@stephenschaffner2387 Okay you could be right because I've just read an updated rules for penalty website which says that if the arms are tucked in. .but. .from the TV camera angle we can't see the front of her body so it can't be proven everything was tucked in. Another problem is that the ball was heading towards the goal and that is what the referee is interested in - the referee could not see the front of the player's body and so can't say for sure if she had her arms tucked in. It's an ambiguous situation. .
