I thought it was more "The Three Amigos" + "The Seven Samurai," primarily because the so-called Warriors are under the impression they are there for entertainment, rather than as hired muscle. It's only after the reality sets in, and after a pep-talk that the circus bugs do what they can to fight for the ants. The samurai, though, always knew how to fight, and had every intention of doing so once they were making their way to the village. The same goes for "The Magnificent Seven."

dude come on Kurosawa is one of the most famous filmmakers of all time, most people know him without even having seen any of his movies, let alone the amount of casual, to nerdy film fans that watch his stuff or cite his influences, let alone filmmakers themselves that always mention him. This isn't 1920s-1950s black-and-white movies we're talking about that next to no young people have seen. He has probably the most popular black-and-white movies by far. Please, don't sound like a pretentious film buff.

@@GuineaPigEveryday "Please, don't sound like a pretentious film buff." Ironically, I think you've done exactly that. So much vitriol for a 5 year old comment. I have an opinion and an experience with something and you insult me for it because it doesn't perfectly correspond with your own. I'm glad that those around you seem to know about Kurosawa, but please don't act as if your experience is that of everyone else. I've never met a single person in my home town that recognized his name when I asked them about it. That is a fact, and that is why I made my comment. I'll continue to spread awareness of his works, even if that somehow makes me pretentious, because I think film history should be revered, not forgotten, and it brings happiness and connections to those in my life.

I live in a small town where everyone is a uncultured ignorant American, for the most part. so what? I'm not an idiot like you who believes that their town represents the majority of cultural awareness, I understand where I come from and I understand culture. you are the epitome of a pretentious pompous fool. again, my intention isn't one of hate or insult. I actually asked someone who worked on A Bug’s Life about the film’s inspiration and he said that the movie was originally more of a remake of Seven Samurai and the original title of the film was “Seven Bugs”. The original version stayed more close to the original movie in terms of its story, but when they decided that the film would be about circus bugs that were mistaken for warriors instead, that lead to them changing the title. He pretty much said that Pixar in no way were hiding that they were making an animated remake of or loosely based on Seven Samurai.

Love the video (as I do all your vids), and personally think the passion in your words is given light with your use of pauses and the cadence in your speech. Keep the videos comin, you move me

I feel like you are trying to talk too much like Nerdwriter here or in a "smart" voice. I think your old cadence in past videos like Treasure Planet was better and unique.
@Medietic46 жыл бұрын
Yea it got really weird towards the end of this video. The cadence had an odd pause for the last word of every sentence. Strange too since the beginning of the video wasn't that way.

The word 'literally' is literally misused in the title.

Actually, the use of the word literally as a way to exaggerate something is recognized by Merriam-Webster. Language evolves over time, if everybody uses a word wrong then the people who use it correctly are in the minority.
@viciousclam24176 жыл бұрын
The definition didn't change, it was added to. Also, you actually COULD use "figuratively" in the place of "literally". Except, whereas using "literally" ironically has an exaggerating effect using "figuratively" ironically would have a diminishing effect. I could say (btw I'm not attempting to make this political this is just the first example that came to mind) Donald Trump is figuratively the president and that would imply that, although he is literally the president, his position might as well be figurative for one reason or another. At the end of the day if you understand what anyone means by using a particular turn of phrase then it doesn't matter if they use it incorrectly. Ironically, that's how figurative speech works.
