Me too. He's consistently excellent. To me he's the rare combination of a super strong player and a fantastic teacher; he's a great communicator of accessible, digestible ideas. Whenever I play an OTB tournament game and I have the urge to play hastily, I start hearing Var saying, "don't rush, don't rush" and all is well again.

1. Ra8?? Qxa8 2. Nxc6?? Nxc6 (2. Nxb7 Qxb7 3. Ba6 Qb8 4. Bxc8 Bxc8 (4... Qxc8?? 5. Ra8 Qb7 6. Qa7 should win for white) 5. Ra8 Qb7 6. Ra7 Qb8 7. Ra8 seems to draw) 3. Rxa8 Rxa8 leaves black winning with two rooks and a knight against a queen and a pawn.

@12:53 seconds the computer moves queen to a7 the continuation rook to a7 leaves black up a queens worth of material hard to belive a grand master missed that and instead he chooses rook c8 @12 :56 i dont understand this i feel like a grand master up a queen should be winning even with whites spatial advantage if for no other reason than the amount of harrasement that could insue from the queen perhaps someones chess computer can tell me why im wrong

Even in 1997 computers were too strong for a human to use tactics to go ahead a queen in material. Look again at your idea.

He wasn't going forward with his moves. He was going backward. The actual moves were Qa7, Rc7, and then Qc6.

Well what I think when I compare Akobian's lectures to Finegold's I think technically both are Fantastic though I would be more enthusiastic to listen to Fingold due to his more Humorous style.....Though it's just a personal opinion and some people may like more non-humorous lecturers like Akobian....
