Lyari Town is one of the eighteen constituent towns of Karachi, known as Little or Mini Balochistan. Just a few years ago, Lyari was ruled by gangs, and known for its brutal violence and unrest. But recently things have changed for the better.
We wanted to visit Lyari, Karachi, for one because I didn’t have a chance to visit Balochistan on my trip to Pakistani, and for two - in our very short visit, to share a story of people, hope, and those who are making a difference.
After walking around one of the colorful neighborhoods, we jumped in a rickshaw to go find breakfast. Not totally sure where we ended up, but we found a man who was extremely friendly and hospitable and a popular place to eat breakfast.
His food scooping skills were impressive!
The food was delicious, and the entire experience was memorable and rewarding.

That breakfast guy was out of this world. The cheerfulness, the flair, the artistic flourish that he served his food was so charming. And top of that he was refusing payment. These are people with hearts of gold!!! Mind you its not a small favor as most of these vendors live on a hand to mouth daily income basis and if they dont sell enough, sometimes its hard for them to provide food for their own families. Like if you agree.

yeah that is so true but these people have huge hearts even for the locals like us. They are the same and try to do some favor like they either give discounts, increase the quantity, free refill or do something that make the locals go back to them.

@@TheLittledikkins You dont need to be that sad. Pakistani people are very welcoming kind hearted even to their own fellows as well. They get quiet a few customers at an ordinary day and even more on the weekends. It is their usual custom to greet people and they do not charge with their guests. People living in less affluence are used to of saving for the rainy days due to which they manage through in their hardships and other help them too. Dont worry If you like u can visit their and ask them your self

Ya we have lots of problems and we faced 15 years of deadly terrorism as well due to proxy war of America, India and Israel..... But if you look towards happiness index rate Pakistan is on top of list from South Asian countries.... We have lots of jealous people and enemies ... You can see through dislikes ....but we don't care of haters they do nothing of us except killing...

I've heard so much about food in Pakistan and their hospitality. Just look at the face of man who served them food, he seems so much happy. I want to visit this country...love from your neighbor. 🇮🇳

@Rana Ali Akhtar Alam Khan there is truth to the division of funds. I remember 5-6 years ago under the PMLN, Lahore's development budget was over 1 billion USD and more than double than that of Karachi. Makes zero sense. I would think the difference would be even worse now.

When Mark says lyare was a war zone, he isn't kidding. It was ruled by violence and guns and people getting shot like it was nothing. Pakistan has come such a long way since then. This food tour is a proof of it. Only a couple of years ago, even as a Pakistani, one couldn't think of visiting these areas. From taking care of the terrorist in the kpk province to dealing with unrest in balochistan and Karachi, I'm so proud of my country and its people that held on to hope and kindness. The colorful buildings are a representation of all the struggles these people went through and triumphed. It got me all emotional.❤❤❤

@@koyelbandyopadhyay9938 Lyari was a pocket of corrupt govt funded group but mostly got its resources from outside Pakistan. It is about a few km span of the land area and the rest of the Karachi had always been lively and vibrant. The media reports always projected it as a mega scenario of Pakistan but it was not even though it was really heartening but the rest of Pakistan had been what you have seen in this series. Lyari had been a slum due to which many bandits found it a safe heaven. Whenever anyone tried to clear the area, these local culprits responded with a force. many of those bandits were terrorists sent by the international agencies to create the unrest there. The slum was like any other slum as you have in india where bandits flourish by taking the advantage of the location. I think you would also have the same situation in your interiors where international terrorists would have settled with the locals. God bless all of us and bless every country to be freed with the terrorism and extremism.

Driving in karachi is tough coz of two reasons, one is too much traffic jam and other is female drivers. Im a women and i admit women drivers are above the law here. Traffic police is scared of women coz when they give ticket the women scold them into submission and taking it back lol

Lyari district of Karachi is also home to Pakistan's Afro Pakistani community. The Afro Pakistanis arrived in the region about 250/300 years ago from East Africa. They married into the local population but still maintain their African cultural heritage. They are very good footballers and boxers.

They have intermixed with other ethnicity and locals but still maintain some culture. They are really good sportsmen coz of strength and stamina.

Its a party food. As in served on special occasions or on special dishes. Not eaten on regular basis. It tastes like a mix between butter and broth and texture is gelatinous.
