Kingsley Ben-Adir carried this interview single handedly! What an amazing guest who did the role of both interviewer and interviewee. I love how Adir shared most of his experiences during production and giving all the powerful messages without being asked. He gave us what we wanted to know about his experience translating Bob Marley in a way the interviewers failed to do. What an amazing artist!

The British cockney and Jamaican patois is COMPLETELY different. 2 totally different dialects- the words , cadence and tonality is different. Kudos to Ben-Adir for his commitment to learning the patois dialect and the nuance of Bob. This interview was intriguing. I admire this young man. His heart was fully in it. Great job.

I think what Kingsley said about the Jamaican Patois influence says it all. British cockney has been heavily influenced by the language of Caribbean immigrants in the UK, so it’s not separate, it’s infused. Patois isn’t cockney but cockney owes a lot to Patois. And of course he’s Black, so I’m sure he sounds a lot like Black Brits do. It’s kinda like how Cardi B has a New York accent but it’s heavily influenced by Puerto Rican/Dominican Spanish, so her New York accent is different from a white person’s New York accent.

Pros and cons to the British involvement. And the actors are great I’m not coming for them. Or anyone for that matter. The fact is: how much does any country get to keep taking from one’s own country until you decide “I/we have some money and influence so we can do things differently”??? I get the whole mainstream play but ngl I’m still super salty about movies like Cool Runnings. This interview was honestly one of the best Breakfast Club interviews. I really got to learn about Kingsley and his process. I imagine playing a larger than life iconic figure with one of the hardest accents to mimic was a task. I'm happy to report that I watched the film and Kingsley bodied the role. As a born Jamaican, I was relieved and proud. I believe Bob would have been proud too. His performance will earn him a number of award nominations next season. Capturing Bob was a tall order and he delivered.

I work at a drama school in London and we get quite a few American (black and white) actors come over to study. A lot of them have acting experience before, but want to get the classical training that is offered at British drama schools and really work on their craft as actors

Angels Bassett is a Yale University trained and degreed actress, Denzel is classically trained and educated as is also Laurence Fishburne and many others have had classical training. Many have gone to Juliard which is very prestigious. That's a very biased comment. Please research more before you critique.

Kingsley Ben-Adir was outstanding as Bob Marley and most definitely captured the essence of Bob’s person during that pivotal moment in Bob’s life. The family chose him, I believe, because he was able to articulate Bob’s character in the most authentic manner. I learned so much about Bob’s humanitarianism and deeply rooted spirituality (Nester was surely a Messenger) as a result of this film. Thank you Ziggy, Rita, Marley family, Ben, La Shauna and the production team of One Love! This could easily have been a 3 hour movie without anyone moving from their seat! ❤❤🤲🏽🙏🏽

Man. Love guests like this brother. I appreciated this interview. I don’t feel it has anything to do with their origins- he just seems in tune. With himself, with his purpose, and it reflects through his aura. I think it’s something that you consciously have to work at. Chadwick🕊️, Kingsley, Kaluuya, Lakeith.. the changing of the guard in Black Hollywood has been beautiful to witness. Cannot wait to see this film!

I am extremely disappointed in Charlamagne during this interview. He has always been a rude person and this whole "love and light" persona he was adopted is BS he is still the same rude person he has always been. Growing up Rasta, I can say that all that Char was saying was not him revealing the movie, but things that are public knowledge if you’ve followed Bob’s story for a long time. I’m sure the movie will be great, but there’s an entire biopic of his life that’s been out for sometime now called “Marley.” It’s BEAUTIFULLY put together and deep on so many levels. I believe it is the most honest version of his story. A ton of first hand accounts from those close to him. It’s a true in-depth masterpiece of his workings and private family life. I cry every time I watch it. I would suggest giving that a watch FIRST before going to see the movie. That way, all the parts that may feel “rushed” and not detailed enough, will all make sense. I know his family was more hands on in this new movie and gave the stamp of approval, so I’m excited to see what nuances are offered. Peace & Blessings ♥️💛💚
