In this now classic 2013 interview Kanye West stopped by the Breakfast Club to be grilled by Charlamagne Tha God. As much as DJ Envy and Angela Yee tried to keep the interview on it's tracks Charalamagne just kept getting under Kanye's skin. He started things off by welcoming him as Kanye Kardashian. He also told him he hated Yeesuz and that he is very contradictory.
Watch the interview for some classic quotes, his relationship with the paparazzi, Kim Karadashian being more relevant that Michelle Obama, how Yeesuz was received and much more.

Kanye is genius. This interview proves why it’s difficult to have conversation with people who are nowhere on your level. Kanye is not afraid or he moves in the midst of fear--courage. Kanye knows who he is!!! He is way ahead of his time. These people are talking as consumers; he’s talking as an owner. Mad respect for Kanye!

It’s crazy to me how Kanye speaking out about people gate keeping him has been such a controversial topic. Looking back at this interview Charlamagne repeatedly asks Ye why everything is about money with him, even calling him egotistical and narcissistic. When Ye broke down why major name brands have the ability to trap all of the creative minds in a box Charlemagne’s response was “You know you don’t have to work in this industry, you can just work in Walmart” Ye replied “No I have to create a Walmart”. This small segment really illustrates the fact that the majority of people simply refuse to enable a visionary to create change.

They weren’t wrong in telling him to shut up and go independent. He went indie and had success. He still owns all of Yeezy Supply which is indie. At that point Ye was trying to get licensing and distribution with certain manufacturers and they weren’t fucking with him. Sounds like to me Sway and the Breakfast Club had the answers all along.
@LinusStudios
@LinusStudios 27 күн бұрын
@@donmerriman6320absolutely but that road hadnt really been paved until Kanye did it himself, at this time his options seemed limited and I’m sure he felt marginalized by it. @LinusStudios
@LinusStudios 27 күн бұрын
There is a bit of an irony though when Kanye talks about having self victimization and a victim complex in these interviews and then turns around and does the same thing when it comes to feeling marginalized by clothing companies. But Kanye has always been the one to pave the way, you can’t blame the guy when he trips up every now and then

Charlamagne told Ye he doesn't need money to have a voice in this world and freedom has nothing to do with having money. Mostly the way that Ye was thinking in this interview was small minded.

Imagine doing a press junket for a film and you’re the interviewer and you tell the actors and actress that the movie is steaming pile of dog shit during the interview you just don’t do that and that’s what Charlemagne did to Kanye. The guy deserved whatever response Kanye gave him.

No he doesn't. If anything Kanye sounds like a clown with all that victim talk. THEY this and THEY that and corporations this and that. Sway already told him that and he deflected by telling sway he doesn't have the answers when use your own money IS the answer.
@young_raymond47
@young_raymond47 4 жыл бұрын
@@tblack9711 I'm not even going to get too deep into this discussion because you are certainly speaking from an ill informed position. Maybe he has enough money to do so now but he didn't back then, even though he thought he did, which is why he lost a bunch of money. Remember in 2016 when he was 58 million in debt? That was because he had been trying to use his own money. Maybe you're unfamiliar with Pastelle but that was the unsuccessful fashion line he had created when going by your suggestion. Watch the interview he did with Charlemagne last year and you might get a better understanding of the semantics behind starting a new brand. Hope this helps.
@tblack9711
@tblack9711 4 жыл бұрын
@@young_raymond47 that's business, you're going to lose money in the beginning. Part of the reason he failed in thd beginning was because of him and the crazy things he says and does. The first thing I remember him doing was putting out a plain white t shirt for $100 due to his narcissist mentality he thought it will blow up because his name was on it. Then he put out those ugly shoes on top of the fact he burned bridges in the fashion industry which probably held him back too. He's too vocal about what other people do instead of just doing his thing and not worrying about what "they" think. Charlemagne was right when he said we love him for his music, nobody cares about his clothing stuff. His problem is his mouth and thinking he's more important than he really is.
@young_raymond47
@young_raymond47 4 жыл бұрын
T Black people did care about his clothing though. His nike shoes were super successful so he asked nike for creative control over future releases but they told him his role as a celebrity is to promote product and collect a cheque. Hence why he jumped ship to adidas. If you seriously think no one cares about his clothes you must’ve been blind for the best part of 10 years.
