It started because Walter needed the money to leave behind some financial security for his family, but then it became more about the respect and recognition he obtained being Heisenberg, the same respect and recognition he never had in his life despite his enourmous intellect and devotion to his family and profession.
@ethanharmer51513 жыл бұрын
His family's financial security was always really just a side benefit. He began cooking meth because he wanted to experience a thrill before he died, and it was something he lived on. It was never about his family. He proved this when he rejected Elliot's offer to work for Grey Matter. If it was really about financial security, he would have accepted the offer.

Isn't it ironic that throughout the whole series if Hank found out, it would save the family and put away danger (Walt) and any problem he then had (cartels, Gus, Salamancas, jesse after a point). But after this and with all his enemies gone (besides Jesse) , he would move on, die a death from cancer and the family would be saved (yes Skyler would be emotionaly scarred for the rest of her life) and move on with their lives while having money on the side. Only then Hank found out and collapse came. This show puts a big emphasis on the fact that 1 thing can be right at a certain time but could cause collapse in a wrong time. Then Hank and Walt both stubborn as mules couldn't compromise and save the family, they both doomed it

One thing I really found interesting about Walt is that he actually tries to quit after this conversation. He genuinely stops, starts living his domestic life again, and the only reason he's thrown back into it is because Hank finally made the connection. If he'd been more careful about covering his tracks he might have gotten away with the whole thing. But he just had to have that book in the bathroom.

The man is brimming with ego and pride, so he probably didn't even consider the possibility that someone could catch him and reveal the truth, let alone that person being Hank his own brother-in-law. There were plenty of things Walt could've done to keep his secret (the book, and also that scene where he suggests to Hank that the real 'genius' is still out there leading Hank to make the Los Pollos connection), but his pride overcame all eventually leading to his downfall

"Walt got greedy" is kind of the point of the show. It's not only greed that became his driving power, it was also pride, ego, the lust for power and self-proclamation. On his road to recognition, power and greatness, he lost everything he had ever held dear in his life and completely ruined the lives of the people he cared for and loved. In season 1, Walt gets into the meth business with the intention to secure his family's future and be remembered as a father figure who cares and loves his wife and child. At the end of the show, Walt's excessive ambition and desire for greatness leaves his (and his brother in law's) family completely crushed and ensures the people who once loved him will do everything possible to forget Walt ever existed so they can carry on with their lives.

God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. This is the Gospel which means the Good News. Those that reject redemption will go to hell. 1 John 1:8-10 KJV If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. John 1:1-3,10 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Isaiah 44:6 KJV Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Revelation 1:17-18 KJV And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Acts 4:12 KJV Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

It was never about the money. It was about fighting back against a society that would have put him in the ground before he could take care of his family. The disrespect for teachers. The corruption of goverments and businesses. The devaluation of thinking as opposed to popularity. We never learn, and people like Walt who have had enough start to break bad.
@AzguardMike Жыл бұрын
as long as the money doesnt go into a bank, you dont have to worry about the tax man noticing a sudden increase. The issue is storing all the notes and hoping noone steals them. A container is the usual method, as we see in police shows. Others choose under the floorboards, the celler, a safe or even a false wardrobe. My friends moved into a council house a few years ago and it had a slide open closet in wall. He noticed a latch which slid the side up to reveal a 6ft high, 8ft deep box room. The neighbour told him the previous owner was a massive drug dealer in the area and fled abroad, the council then got the house back and moved my friend in.

Huh, that's not so much. I mean, it's certainly a lot by our "normal people" standards, but you can find a way to spend it all in a day. Buy two houses, say about 25-30mil each, get a couple of luxury cars and get a private jet. Boom, you have no money left. As someone already said, there are people who make that much in a year, legitimately. And funnily enough, the more you have, the easier it is to spend.
@nguyenbagiap74335 жыл бұрын
Skyler was referring to THEIR way of life. Normal citizens, a normal house, with two kids, working 8/5. Not the billionaire style. For them 80 millions is 'YUGEEEE'. Also with 80mils, they could invest in any normal fund and live a fulfilling life till death and leave a lot for at least 2 generations.
