FYI , the body grip in the hole you made will catch some beaver, but will educate many others when they approach with mud /sticks tripping the trap,making them nearly impossible to catch after that. So , for best results set body grip traps on the down stream side of the dam Not the top. ( I did full time ADC beaver control for over 20 years )

Conibears and dam breaks are like oil and water, don't mix. When we began beaver trapping we all tried that at first, for me that was close to 60 years ago. Lots of sprung traps that way and as mentioned below, wised up smart beaver that will very hard to catch.

Not sure what state your in, but yeah we're not allowed to damage dams or put traps within 15 feet of a dam in Pennsylvania other than that good video

Hey i have to trap a beaver for a farmer. So i make a small opening in the damn and I set a foothold trap in the water 8 inches from the opening but when i checked it, there was small sticks and debry that set it off. Any better place to put the trap?

Few options, if you can find a beaver slide or make a castor mound set those work well

Trap sets, its to catch the animal so it doesn't continue to make the dam

Do what works for you that's what I say! I found it rough to open new 330s and such so I use the tools provided

@@OutdoorExperiences Rough too open a 330, I did 100 for some friends, farmers the other night Beavers have their farm fields flooded. And I did them all with one hand.
