@crimsoncoconut2421

the skill sets became like this cause nobody needs to have at least 3-4 centers simply because of 1 person and that is shaq. there are now more roster spots for players who are actually skilled instead of just having bigs with a bigframe/body to guard shaq, more of a common thing in WEST in the past years. the sad part is we really dont see any tony allens anymore. sure smart is there, and etc. but he aint no tony allen when it comes to defense, smart is wayyy better in offense tho.

The NBA has completely neutered defense. I can't remember the last time they made a rule change that makes defending easier, it's always offense, offense and more offense. So, it's not surprising to see everyone averaging 20ppg when you realize how limited defenders are in stopping them.
@cottonmather8146

Defense always shows up and matters more in the playoffs when the whistles tighten. The idea that the NBA has "completely" neutered defense when the champion always has a top 3-5 defense in the league is unfounded. You do realize the entire reason for the 3 point line was to reward the difficulty of distance shooting to counterbalance big ass behemoths parking in front of the rim for 30 points. @yerrrrrrrr4567 the super stars of the 2000s had the skillsets to compete with today's superstars but they were used to playing with physical defenses and less spacing. They would excel in today's environment. Can you say the same about today's stars being able to excel in other eras other than lebron and giansis? We know stephs ankles are weak and that would be hard on him with little spacing and more physical defense, the big men of today joker and embiid don't do well when they have a big body that can match up with them, im aisxers fan trust me embiid is soft, and most teams had big men protecting the rim, throw in the fact that stars weren't jumping teams joining each other so those stars would be bearing a much bigger load with less help, these are all things that these stars have never dealt with so we really don't know if they would be that great if dropped in another Era. But we do know AI, Kobe, Shaq, KG, Duncan, Jordan were alpha players who could lead their team when it counted and were relentless in a much more difficult, less free flowing Era. They would have a field day with the type of players plating today.
