Historically, Hitler was bluffing and would have backed down had the Czechs resisted. Same reason he didn't go after Switzerland. But the British backed him for some bizarre reason and the French didn't want to go to war without British support so history went the way it did.

But either way, the German military planned to use the aftermath for a coup against Hitler and was flabbergasted when Chamberlain just gave up. He allowed Hitler to look like the savior he made himself out to be and therefore ensured that he could stay in power. (Oster conspiracy, if you want to look it up) Should be a lesson to all those guys who suggest we should just surrender Ukraine to Putin.

Fun fact: Defensive bonuses also give bonuses to Breakthrough, so a +10% to defence is also a +10% to breakthrough

@@jetvalorsam8900 No. Soviet soldiers were stationed in the baltic States beforehand, and fighting was at a minimal as soviet soldiers quickly occupied key areas such as the city centre or roads which led to a complete surrender and swift annexation of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania with little to no casualties. The Red Army lost more soldiers trying to defend the Baltic States from Nazi Germany than they ever did incorporating it. The reason there were minimal casualties in taking three entire countries was because the population of the countries was mostly Russian, and so had no problem with being part of the Soviets, as well as the impressive swift takeover of key points to stop any resistance.

You can only play Liechtenstein with the Millennium Dawn mod, and even that is ridiculously boring. Luxembourg is alright, just join the axis and take control of the rest of the Benelux. If you have declare war on Belgium and the Netherlands before Germany, you get control of that land because you have the claim.

9:40 if you have another unit attack the tile they are retreating out of, you will pin all the forces in the tile to combat preventing them from reinforcing the fleeing troops so it's easier to encircle

Greetings from Canada! I'd love to see a Canada play through with some historical context. I don't think a lot of Hoi4 players know the historical significance of a lot of focus tree decisions. I'd love to see a play through which examines and explains the real history, while pointing out any the creative liberties taken in the interest of game design and balance, and why they did it. Like maybe pointing out real VS game army sizes, strength of focus buffs, likely reaction of people during an ideology shift, etc. Maybe its a tall ask, but I think it would be really awesome. Thanks for taking the time and keep up the great work!

@@matthewcollien5540 I’ve heard (haven’t tried it myself) that if you rush fascism as Canada and do the focus that teams you up with a Fascist Mexico, you can cap the USA by making your entire army cavalry and snaking VPa. If you do this while the US is still disarmed, so in the first couple years or so, the States won’t be able to man the entire border. Plus, if you just defend Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes, you’ll survive, as they have most of your VPs. It could work even better with a Fascist Britain. If you team with a player for the UK, I think you’d be able to get the USA into the Imperial Federation and get cores ok all of it. Truly, Rule Britannia.

Came here from TikTok after getting your video on going communist. Use to play EU4 casually but never watched videos on it and I was never interested in HOI4 but man this video was great. Watching you get excited even though I barely know what going on other than how absurd this sounds was very entertaining and made me want to play the game. You might know this already but if you hold shift while ordering your army/air wings/navy to exercise they will do so until they hit experience level 3 and then stop since they cannot level up any further without actually having to fight Also, Soviet Mexico under Trotzky is pretty fun and cursed to play

Czechoslovakia, founded by Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, was one of the most democratic countries in the world. If France and Britain had come to help us, as we had agreed, Czechoslovakia could have delivered a significant blow, and with the support of Britain and France, we could have won the war right from the start. Sadly, we were betrayed, and none of it happened.
