In all reality guns in space would be difficult to make and use due to overheating and (most of the time when not on a planet with an atmosphere) lack of air resistance and gravity to help with recoil (although the recoil thing isint that bad). The most likely thing to happen is for low atmosphere weapons to have built in refrigeration units to help cool the barrel and receiver. The biggest issue would be powering everything but by that point we should have some pretty powerful and long lasting batteries.
