Agree 100% - no packout cleats and no remote/outlet to run this as a dust collector for a sander or whatever is a big flaw and in my opinion, a missed opportunity to be quite possibly the best vacuum solution on the market. Sigh. Even as a professional that buys almost exclusively Milwaukee products, I hate seeing them release new stuff that is overpriced and under-delivers.

Big let down for sure. I've been using a DeWalt cordless dust extractor and cordless Ridged shop-vac for a while now and I would have loved to consolidate that all down to a Milwaukee platform. Packout just makes sense for me because most of my stuff is Packout, and that remote for dust extraction would have been icing on the cake. I still might buy 1 or 2 for the table saw and site clean up, but having a remote for dust extraction on the other tools would have pushed me to buy a couple more. Right now DeWalt is the only company offering that solution and its a shame because that extractor is so low volume that you have to use it exclusively for things that create small amounts of debris. Swing and a... I don't know, they got on base at least.

I don't get why this isn't packout compatible. Why not a packout bottom to the tank? Why not a packout compatible cart for more options? Why not a packout compatible top so you could stack a thing or two on top if you wanted? I'm just an occasional builder / electrician and DIY type, but I don't get why not to packout these.... Also I'd love to have these be savvy enough to connect to jobsite tools like table saws or chop saws and maybe - if even possible - turn on when they do. I'd buy it as a battery powered dust extraction tool.

This right here is the comment. I’m not buying that mx generator. So if they want me to buy the generator I refuse to buy they’re losing money, if they would come out with a generator that runs off m18 I would already have it. They’d make way more money just caving in and making one instead of pushing people to the mx series no one wants.

I think it would be nice to add the second battery for extended runtimes and power on certain large power usage tools. I like the idea of adding a battery if needed, not being required to use it all the time. Maybe using a couple 5 amp hour batteries instead of a 12 amp hour. Being able to series or parallel batteries depending on need, power or runtime would be a great idea. Thanks for the videos.

I like the fact they will do corded head in the future. I would think it was neat if they had a dual battery/ corded setup. The only real time I use a vac longer than half an hour straight is when I use it for dust collection from sanders/ routers etc. Too bad they did not use some type of wireless connection to turn on the vac when a tool starts. Not really wanting to buy one vac for cleanup, and then another for tool dust collection. I can see a lot of makers fashioning a plate to add the packout mounts.

Metabo HPT has had their 36V system out for 4yrs and it takes two separate 36V batteries and can be plugged in with AC adapter-I this is a great option for my longer run time tools table saw, mitre saw, SDS Max rotary drill/hammer, grinder, full size router etc and they have a lifetime warranty and their Multivolt batteries work in their 18V tools and 36V tools these features were the catalyst for me to swap out many of my Milwaukee and Makita tools over the last 3 yrs-plus the Hitachi/Metabo HPT nailers have been the standard for 25+yrs

I’d say how about a pack out compatible M18 based power station. I think most people hauling tools in a pack out stack would be taking extra batteries. It would be a good way to secure those batteries for transport, could charge the batteries, and have an inverter to act as a “generator” when there’s no power available.

@Belts And Boxes. Thanks Rob for your informative and entertaining way to announce Milwaukee's new line of cordless shop vacuums. I'm glad you reminded me of how Milwaukee poo pooed the idea of dual batteries (like Makita's 18V x2). Even Milwaukee eventually realized some of us don't mind 2 batteries on some of our power tools. My take on why Milwaukee didn't include some of the features (PACKOUT mounting, Bluetooth remote start) is for incremental improvements. There will always be early adopters of their tools. We'll see what they add for GEN2 to their vacuums. Ridgid really needs to take note with these Milwaukee vacuum offerings. Really appreciate your info in last night's livestream with the other Robert. You really bring alot of great behind-the-scenes info. Keeping you, Sarah, and your families in my daily prayers. EDIT: PS Thanks for including the pricing info in your description. More info to chew on...

You forgot to mention the dual battery XGT system that Makita has had. That is what changed Milwaukee's mind about them making dual battery tools. They saw that Makita would be able to use 2 X 40v 8ah batteries on a tool for 8ah at 80v and realized their MX system with it's football sized batteries had no chance. Hilti followed suit as well and launched their dual battery Neuron system.

@FFred-us9tw
@FFred-us9tw 2 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying, but as a mobile detailer you would easily recoup your investment since you would not need to use an inverter or a generator. The flexibility is huge. And losing the insanely annoying cords is a huge plus. Think of how faster you can set up and put away with no unwrapping and then re-wrapping cords. Don't think of it on one job, think of a weeks worth of jobs for the time savings. And you can use those batteries in the blowers which are amazing for drying cars, especially engines and panel gaps. And light towers too for after hours jobs.

It is nice you mentioned the whole 2 battery thing Milwaukee mentioned a number of years back. Seems like it often gets forgotten about. In addition to them saying one battery is enough, they also said didn't need to have higher voltage tools. They have since introduced mx fuel which is higher voltage and introduced the mower and vac which are dual battery m18 tools. seems like they have changed their minds since they made these comments without actually telling their users.

yep, you can only get so much power from 18v, at some point you have to pull to many amps to make 18v viable, 40 amps at 18 volts is only 720 watts, just a little under 1HP I believe. I dont know how many amps Milwaukee tools normaly draw from a battery pack, 40 seemed like a good number for an example. Much higher than 40 amps and your starting to deal with some pretty good sized wire, for sustained loads, also, you can only draw so many amps from the small terminal connections where the battery pack plugs into the tool.

Without a doubt the first Milwaukee tool that I would make a dual battery 36-volt would be the 9-inch cut-off saw we own it and we own multiple 12 amp hour batteries it is very hungry, if it had the ability to run two batteries and our run time was increased or our power was doubled we would be super ecstatically impressed

That's a lot of cheddar for a wet/dry vacuum, but I love the idea of a full-size wet/dry that runs off of M18 batteries and will definitely keep my eye on the reviews for this.

This is exactly what I've been hoping for! Well...expect the lack of PackOut compatibility, but most importantly I didn't hear anything about a SELF-CLEANING FILTER. 😞 That CFM though. 💪🏻 I thought it would take Makita's 40V x2 to reach that CFM.

Dual battery core rig. Options are good. Jackhammer because it's supposed to be heavy. As everyone else is stating why don't they see their value in Packout? Why are we having to create solutions to their shortcomings. Can you imagine buying a setup that all just made ergonomic sense in the first place draw base, packout vac base that can be emptied without unstacking. External bit holder cases. All Packout should be designed specifically for their tools! Sold separate or as kits. With bits instead of charger cut out. I'm sure they have seen what a professionally laid out tool box looks like. Foam cut out is great but I feel they could come out with a modular solution that would increase productivity. Function>durability>sexiness>price we are simple creatures 😎

Not sure if I missed it in your description. But do the bins lock or secure onto the rolling cart in any way? I can assume they're relatively top-heavy and if you're rollng over some uneven ground or on a sloped driveway or ramp, I'd be worried about a tipping over. Also, any specs on the filters? Do the vacuums have a port for blowing, or does the motor air discharge out of some vents? And does that air expel up or to the side? ( hopefully not to the side/down because that has a tendency to blow other dust and debris when you're moving along a path)

Physics and the electrical engineers FINALLY won out! About 1/2 of tool geeks made fun of Makita's X2 tools. Those that use them, not so much. Great tools. What Milwaukee has been able to do with 18v is truly amazing. But they have come very close to the theoretical and practical limits of what can be done with such a low voltage. I wonder how many hours and jobs were lost in the quest for an 18v lawn mower. Certainly, we had to wait years because someone who doesn't understand eletricity made a promise he/she didn't know the implications of down the road. That said, I'm glad they finally saw the light. Now where's that cordless welder?

my main prob with mikita it that im a GC and for variability of tools Milwaukie has more choice for a single platform. I am down to only one makita tool and that is due to the fact it is unique to them that is the drywall saw an unusual saw built like a jigsaw with special blades that can cut wood or drywall in forewords or reverse.

I would def say the table saws, miter saws would be the best choices to add the dual batteries. They can get moved to set up location and then have the batteries added while stationary. Take the weight off when moved . Unlike other hand tools where holding the weight would get tiresome. At that point maybe adding a set of saws that could utilize the MX series batteries would make more sense for power and run time.
