I have to wonder how many people have already jumped ship and moved to a compound (like I did), so now Eli Lilly is trying to course correct? My insurance never covered this and I'm finding the compound is working as good as (or better) than the name brand. Paying $179 a month instead of $550 (and that's with a "discount") for better results will likely keep me from going back to the name brand.

An excellent question - we are both now using the compounded tirzepatide from Mochi Health and it has worked well. I do prefer the pens over the needle and vial, but the cost difference and ease of access for the compounded far outweighs that.

Couple things. Thanks for doing this, it’s good to have “maturity” in this space. Those of us who have spent our whole lives being impacted by obesity, really need to see the faces of other people like us. I also like the important factor of having this news and all the news you report, reported seriously, I secretly hope that as time goes on, you will expand the news and commentary part of what you do. It can be separate from, the stories of your life and peoples interviews which I also like, but I think it’s really important to give weight to the topic

Thanks for update. I received my mounjaro 2.5 , was told it was their last box, from Walgreens yesterday. Was told that 2.5 is getting hard to come by because the people who can't get their higher doses are getting the 2.5. So it will get interesting.

EliLilly TruePill has in their words yesterday "tons of 2.5 and 5 mg". The suppy Literally opened up at 6:30 ET yesterday on Lilly's TruePill site. They're clearly ramping up.

As a hypothetical, if the shortages were to end, would compounding formulas still be available? This question comes from a self-pay perspective since my insurance will not cover the medications. Thanks

Theoretically yes. But given the CDC's statistics - Over 70 million adults in U.S. are obese (35 million men and 35 million women). 99 million are overweight (45 million women and 54 million men) it is more likely that demand outpaces supply. Which is why we discussed the Lilly CEO saying it would not change until there was a pill form of the GLP-1s. Which would in all likelihood dramatically reduce the price. My guess is that as competitors come on line and new drugs emerge in the next five years the competition and the urge to grow share will push the pricing down and open availability to many more people. They will want to make the pie bigger not simply fight over the size of the slice.

All I could get for forever was zepbound 2.5mg, and then I was able to get 7.5 or 15mg. It’s rapidly changing and inconsistent tho so it’s just a surprise everytime I try to fill it lol
