Other than the firearms stance, wow great police chief. If I am carrying, I'm not drinking, if I'm riding I'm not drinking. But alas. It's my birthday today and I'm at home. Did a nice long ride around the lake this morning and now I'm home drinking! First-time poster and new to the channel. Thanks so much. I've never been one for rallies after 30 years of riding it's just never been my thing. Not into MC's or RC's and very seldom ride with others. After Desert Storm, I got my first bike and have been living with the freedom and bike therapy ever since. But I like your channel and your attitude. Maybe it's time for me to plan to come to Sturgis...Next year?

Yeah he’s trying to keep people safe. They should let people smoke pot all they want on the streets. But he’s right you don’t need to be on the streets past 10 people live in this town. Go in the bars they’re plentiful the only thing that happens outside are fights and racing. There is a large criminal element in the city during this it’s just part of the biker lifestyle the 1% or‘s will show up and they are violent. Also anyone who is drinking a lot can become unhinged. Someone who smokes too much weed will get very hungry and then fall asleep. You should cut off alcohol at midnight and offer weed to everyone. Have fun. Many of the men here are alpha males who can really hurt people I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that until they hurt people but they don’t need to be drunk on the street because they clash like Bighorn sheep. Especially with all the tits and ass around. It’s just nature. I love this culture I love the bikes I love the dudes love the ladies obviously. But they do need to be controlled a bit.

Outstanding interview with the Chief. This is exactly what everyone coming out for the 1st time needs to hear as often I hear folks thinking that Main Street is out of control, but it is quite the opposite. Lots of great, like-minded folks gathering together for some fun. If you want to do whatever you want, go to one of the campgrounds that allow that. In any event you can have as much or as little of Sturgis as you want!

So when he said that you don't have any reason to be in town after ten pm, why did you not question him further? It is not illegal to be in town walking around after ten pm. If this is the new criteria for police interaction, we should all be afraid. According to the police chief, the only valid reason anyone would have to be walking around after ten pm is to visit the vendors. There are no laws or ordinances proscribing any kind of curfew. This is ALARMING.

His Reasoning was that they picked 10 pm is most vendor's close by then. The bars are open with entertainment. The reason they went with open containers was to help with day traffic....Last several years you could not drink on the street. He also said it at anytime during the rally he could pull.it. This is no different than Deadwood same times. No it's not illegal to be out on the streets all night, Just no Alcohol on the street He never said you could not be on the street after 10pm. That what the city decided. You are looking way to hard into this. Maybe next year they should just go back to no open containers in town during Rally.

He’s being asked serious questions about the “rules of the house”. Sturgis operates successfully because competent professionals like this guy who understands what it takes to operate systems when thousands converge upon a town for 10 days with some being absolute half wits. Chief Geody did an awesome job explaining, all black & white, no grey in the middle, I would add sturgis makes a pile of revenue by those being non compliant you can have an Awesome time here just follow the rules. I've been coming here for years , never a ticket, but did get stopped twice in the rain within a quarter mile of each stop ates I was speeding. 1am I think once they realized I wasn't drinking they let me go.

The throttle while downshifting is actually how you down shift at higher rmps typically when riding a little harder... unfortunately, most have no idea how to ride and just do shit like that for attention.. :(

@@gunnergreg5934 been driving trucks 30 yrs, 9spds 13spds 18spds and two sticks. they are far more complex and difficult to down shift than a bike. if you are not controlling your rpms, you might as well drop the rpms off make your down shifts at idle matching shifts with road speed noises. pretty simple.

I came close to buy the cup but didn't. I didn't want the police see me drinking while walking down the street. Sooner or later you may have to ride your bike. I figured you'd stick out carrying that cup. Not say you'd be riding drunk but even 1 cup can get you in trouble. My opinion of course.

I think the town is going to lose a lot of money when bikers find somewhere else to go to cut loose where their bikes aren't examined and neither are the Riders. Doesn't sound like a Biker friendly town to me.

But it is you should see some of the other's we have been to. Don't draw attention to your self. There is a few places you can do crazy things at. Glenco anything goes burn out, stunt riding what ever floats your boat. Out front is a track you can race on too.

Let's face it. Most people at these rallies are not bikers, but people trying to act like bikers. That's why you see the majority of the bikes get trailered, to and from.

Dang thats all very complicated, you can have pot but you can't smoke it, you can drink but you need the right cup, you should stop but you need to do it right. Sounds like we need to start over at another location thats not so controlled.
