VAR isn’t the problem, the people sitting in the VAR room are. They fluff their lines (pun intended), miscommunicate with on field referees, and take longer than it should to review a decision. You give better tools to do your job but if the quality of the work is still the same (or worse), you don’t get rid of the tool, you get rid of the employee. Just look at how well VAR was implemented at the World Cup in Qatar. You’re telling me the richest leage in the world can’t make it work?

The system is not the issue, it's the people operating it. VAR is a valuable tool to use to avoid controversies and unfair calls, as long as the rules are clear and followed by the refs operating it. Abolishing it would be admitting you'd rather get rid of it than learn how to use it properly.

I think people need to be careful what they wish for. We’re quick to forget how many mistakes were made before VAR came in as well, it’s just that VAR means there is less of an excuse. What we need is an automated system for offside (which is something that’s currently available), and a VAR system which is capable of intervening if an absolute howler happens - that’s what it was meant for. Any 50/50s or pulling play back for a foul a minute before in the build up needs to be left. Just needs to be used more effectively, for some reason it seems to work in Europe at lot better than in the PL.

Just have a maximum of 30 seconds check. If you can't spot an error by then, stick with the on field call.

Statistics can be warped by a panel that still gets it wrong when they analyse PG’LOL’s Shockley park shockers. There are many times this season when the panel have defended the indefensible and if all those ‘Errors’ were factored in then the % of errors would be much higher and closer to the No VAR figure. Also take out all the goal line and offside decisions which are already agreed to be automated next season and the Statistics would change again.

I'd MUCH rather a system where each manager gets one challenge (if successful they keep it). The biggest problem with VAR is how often it's intervening.

Abolish accidental hand ball in the box. Cancel goal if it touches the hand and goes in the net. Have VAR in a shorter period and sometimes give the benefit to someone who may be slightly offside.

Var in it's current form is freaking awful, but its crazy that they go straight to scrapping it instead of trying some very obvious operational improvements. How about getting rid of the 'clear and obvious' stipulation to promote consistency? A former player in the room to provide a view on what is or isn't natural movement? An independent body seperated from the field referees? More transparency on whats being discussed in the var room at all times? Theres so many ways to improve var, just goddamn try some of them.

In a world without VAR they would basically make mistakes 40% of the time. Not seeing certain 100% goals, not seeing clear offside and not seeing clear fouls. Every weekend was a heated debate about how unfair the sport was. Then VAR comes in and now instead of those mistake 40% of the time you go to mistakes made with VAR 30% of the time. It still seems a lot and a mess due to VAR, but in the end there's still less mistakes, but the mistakes SEEM worse because its due to a bunch of refs watching some screens. They are blaming a system, while they should blame the people who implemented the system badly. They should fix VAR in a sensible way, not disband it. This is beyond stupidity.

ref can ask for review if unsure of goal scored under a waving offside flag , ref asks if unsure of a bad tackle or penalty decision to look at the monitor , problem solved , var was designed to assist the ref so should only be used at his discretion .

The implementation of VAR damages the excitement, spontaneity, and instant moments of joy and despair out of football. However, compotent the referees that would always be lost! Get rid of it! The milliseconds involved in ball leaving foot and frozen camera on the line of offside ,renders the human decision as inoperable. Go back to referees making instant decisions, if he errs he can be brought to book. It will keep officials on there toes, also compared to the VAR man’s opinion of the exact time of ball strike may be open to unchallengeable decisions leading to a corrupt outcome.

IF PEOPLE STILL WANT VAR, GIVE MANAGERS 3 VAR REVIEWS That review has to take place within 30 seconds of the said incident. It then has to be reviewed by three independent judges not linked to the referee team in anyway, who must meet a 2-1 or 3-0 decision. A report explaining their decision must then be published within 30 minutes of the game finishing and one of the judges has to give a tv interview after every game explaining their decisions. As for the referee's, they also have to make themselves more visible in regards to explaining their calls and they also can't be immune from criticism, but also not demonised providing they explain themselves. Of course if they are consistently and constantly bad, they need to be demoted or removed for a period of time. It can be done if the manager has genuine concern if a foul went uncalled or the referee made the wrong decision. They get one more if a game goes to extra time. This way the manager is in charge of his own decisions and we get more transparency with the decision making across the board. Plus we also get more speed, excitement and drama back without always trying to turn the game into an exact science.

In its current state it needs scrapping. If they used it AS IT WAS INTENDED, only interrupting games for CLEAR AND OBVIOUS errors, then it would be welcome. Not wasting 7 minutes zooming in to see if someone is offside by a pubic hair, taking the excitement away from football and celebrating.
