Objective: To observe the presence of surface tension on water and soap’s ability to break it.
You’ll need:
- White plate or flat dish
- Castile Liquid Soap (any scent) or Sal Suds
- Water in a small glass or cup
- Finely ground pepper

Surface tension isn't why belly flops hurt so much. A belly flop in soapy water (no surface tension) would be equally painful. It's the incompressibility of the fluid and the density/mass of water that causes the inability of the water to move out of the way faster (inertial mass, or momentum). Surface tension on scales more than a few inches is pretty negligible.

Thanks for sharing that and for watching! The incompressibility of water is certainly true, and I wouldn't want to belly flop into soapy water either.
