Breaking In The Habit

Күн бұрын

Five years ago, Pope Francis promulgated "Laudato Si," the first encyclical devoted to the environment. For Catholics, Creation is a gift from God, something that requires our attention and connects us all.

Hooray. There’s a disturbing misanthropy running through so much of the environmental discourse (which is typically without God of course). Here, as on other key issues, you show how the church provides a passionate and deeply wise approach to this mighty problem that avoids the pitfalls of the ideologies that caused so much suffering in the last century. Sincerely, from London

One of my best friends is a very devout Roman Catholic and an environmental engineer. I'm a agnostic myself, but always find it weird when people are surprised by my friend choice of life, most people seem to think you can't have a scientific mind and be religious. But the catholic church has a long history of having scientist in their ranks not only as followers of the faith but even priests can be scientists.

Not "will be in danger," as in the future, but "are facing very dangerous conditions," as in the present. Millions of people are already feeling the effects of pollution and environmental degradation, losing years off of their lives or even their entire livelihoods.

Breaking In The Habit one of my bigger concerns is global warming. Imagine massive droughts that leave people unable to grow food or other extreme weather events such as hurricanes and floods wiping out or at least damaging populated areas. Millions to billions of people could die, lose their livelihoods, or be unable to find refuge when they can no long survive as a result of various environmental issues. This issue is definitely a pro-life one

@rd8987
@rd8987 4 жыл бұрын
My two cents, in St Francis' time society was largely Catholic so when people in the church used the terms like "brother sun" or "mother nature" it was understood that nature does not really have a "will" or a "mind" in itself but rather a manifestation of the will and mind of God. Today however in our largely Godless society the ideas of God are warped and twisted with the result that people, and even some within the church believe that nature is a 'God' in itself with a will and a mind of its own. That's why I believe, in our current times, using terms like "mother nature" isn't helpful and that is what I think most traditionalists mean when they say the term is 'pagan'. Using the term in itself isn't sinful but there is a large probability it will be misinterpreted.

@Michel Martinez feminism is an ideology straight from the depths of hell itself. Not many people know this but Vladimir Lenin outlined the very principles of feminism in a letter he once wrote and that is what the feminist movement is actually founded upon whether the feminists and those that support them care to admit it or not. It only confirms our lady's words "Russia will spread her errors" feminism is one of those diabolical errors.

Wonderful Presentation of the Laudato Si book.. the last chapter of this book is suggesting to have unity. One religion for short.. each one to celebrate with the so called holy Eucharist, which makes the Sunday as the Lord's day which is exactly opposite from what the Scripture says that SABBATH Saturday is the Holy Day. Let us be wise in these last day! Our life should be guided only by the Scriptures..

Thank you, Father Casey. It has always saddened me why a lot of people do not understand what Pope Francis is saying in his book. You have explained it in the clearest way possible. Thank you very much. Father, so many of my friends have left the catholic faith and became born again (christians/protestants/baptists/pentecostal/evengelists) they tell me in so many ways that our baptism is not from God and not at all mentioned in the bible. They keep quoting the verse about Peter saying about being "born again in water and spirit" they tell me also that the Holy Rosary is a form of Buddhism and witch craft. I do not know how to defend my catholic faith when they question it. I know that the Catholic Church is the true Church and I will never leave it. Father, can you please defend Mama Mary and the Holy Rosary. Thank you and God bless you always.

Thank you so much for this video. I really hope tons of people see it and realize their political ideas are not always aligned with their faith. I read some comments and I see some people are resisting... We can't forget we're human beings, and our brains love resorting to cognitive biaises to reduce any dissonance! Unfortunately, I do see that some people completely missed one point: even if you don't want to acknowledge that all creatures are here to serve, and therefore should be respected and dignified, you can at least understand the systems in place at the moment are going against the survival of millions of human beings. There's nothing "pagan" about this.
@ramirreyes6414

Well some have connected Luadato Si with allegiance to the green agendas of the United Nations. The part of the UN agenda for environmental conservation is good but if another part of such agendas also include birth control on poor nations through abortion and contraception, it is ambiguous to Catholic teaching that it also destroys human lives. Sacrifice of children to pagan gods is an ancient pagan norm, even in the Old Testament. The whole ecology stuff is politicized with other agendas that’s why we should look at them with scrutiny. I consider myself as a conservative but do I want to do cleanup drives on beaches or plant trees? Absolutely 100%. I have eco bags every time I went to the grocery. Though all of creation is to be redeemed in the second coming, trees, animals, mountains etc are not be elevated in a way that they would partake in the divine nature of God like humans are destined to be. The book of Genesis states that man was created in God's image and likeness but not the same was said for the rest of creation. Therefore human life is still way above that of a tree but that is not to say we should deforest for greater profits. The care and conservation of the environment is very essential but the salvation of souls is of greater importance. And now they want us to confess our “eco sins” too? It is ridiculous. As much as we ought to preserve nature and be responsible, "Mother" Nature is also a creature and NOT to be seen as divine. It is to be taken care of but not revered as you would revere God. Pope Francis was right in his introduction talks about mother nature being a “sister”. God is our common Father of course. He was also right in a lot of what he said in the document but the tone he used elsewhere somewhat reveres nature like when he said that the pandemic was nature having a fit instead of referring to the possibility that this is a chastisement from God. That is pantheistic and pagan in its inclination. The Pope could issue Laudato Si but NOT ally himself or the Church with the UN that promotes contraception, birth control and worst of all, abortion. To top all that, the Pope was present last year when the Pachamama idols from South America were brought into the Vatican and there at the Vatican gardens, pagan ceremonies were held, with some people, including a Franciscan priest even bowing to the idols with Francis being there, not even condemning that abomination. Regardless of your political view, if you are a Christian, you'd know immediately there was something very wrong there. If there are cultures who still worship nature gods and see nature itself as divine, we should not be OK with that as that is pagan and deplorable. They need the Gospel as it is only through the Name of Jesus Christ that we are to be saved. Pope Francis has said very little if ever the need to convert the whole world to the one true faith in Jesus Christ as much as he talks about ecology. He even signed that Abu Dabi pact stating that God wills all religions. Nonsense. Let us pray for the Pope, pray for the Church, be responsible to nature but even more loving to human life.

@@ramirreyes6414 Hi, I really appreciate you taking the time to write all this but I'm afraid you're still missing the point I talked about in my comment so let me rephrase it. People are already dying due to changes in ecosystems (respiratory conditions linked to air contamination, hunger caused by drought or floods, you name it). Aren't we failing God by letting this happen? The climate change death toll is and will continue to be way higher than the number of abortions. I'm not saying we should let abortions happen, but mathematically, we will save way more souls focusing on climate change than abortion. I think we need to recognize that, as a global society, we've put ourselves in a very complicated situation and we cannot win on every front now. What's for sure is that if we lose the battle against climate change and loss of biodiversity, we lose on every front because... we're dead. And because we failed God big time by destroying the only ecosystem in the universe that can support life.
@turkeydinnerchewie2499

Leïla Six I agree. Abortion is horrible and millions of people have been lost to it, but abortion is but a symptom of a larger human problem: our desire to consume and throw away. Our desire to have personal and fast transportation, products that are resource-intensive and that pollute, a bag of candy that we enjoy for a few moments just to discard an unrecyclable wrapper, or buildings built on top of essential ecosystems that do simple things like produce oxygen, filter water, or prevent flooding and erosion are just a few examples. The people of this world need an overhaul in their interactions with everything (God, other people, and nature) so continuing to solely dwell on abortion will only bring up political divisions and nothing will get done. Abortion is a crime against God and humanity but the modern human desire to consume is far more devastating.

Lol, people’s political beliefs are not against their Faith - it’s just you haven’t considered what their faith is really in. They believe in Capitalism and Technological Progress. The tools which helped create western civilisation are now gods we worship as the solutions to all our problems. But tools don’t talk about moral values. Tools don’t say the Earth is our Mother, Protect It. We are so Faithful to capitalism and technological progress we can’t see we are destroying ourselves. We confuse our God made Church with our Man made Churches and we think we are Faithful. Hah! I’m praying for metanoia, for insight into my actions that will stop me polluting the planet

I'm no longer a Catholic, I never was I could argue, but I really am amused by how much Pope Francis is doing. He is going beyond the theological theory and he is actually acting to change the Church and give hope for a positive change. The only odd thing is that while me as an atheist admire that, my father and other catholics hates it and say he should stay in his lane. Its confusing to say the least.

In New Age movements we do find a wide diversity of people, varying from those who believe cancer to be a self-inflicted problem in terms of the so-called personal karma, to people that got lost, discouraged by rusty conversations with and evil deeds by the church, but still are on the search for genuine spirituality. Among them, we both find extremists in selfishness, as well as people of good will. Words, spoken about those who consider themselves affiliated with such movements rather should come with a warm invitation instead of a judgmental label. It's here that we touch a deeper problem. In our discourse, we become schematic for the sake of understanding structures and streams. The danger, however, is that, by doing so, we also are prone to disregard the human context of each individual. People are contextual beings, by definition, in terms of their cultural backgrounds, their upbringing, their gender, their faith, etc. I am happy, Father Casey, that in one of your other vlogs, you quoted Mother Teresa when she was asked about her opinion about homosexuals. She immediately put homosexuals back into their most sacred context: "Beloved children of God". Shouldn't we do similarly toward those who are roaming around in certain areas such as the New age movement (which, btw, is an unprecise "umbrella term".)? Catholic church might find quite a lot of sheep out there, desperately are longing to rejoin the flock again.

After having actually read Laudato Si and thought about it, I can’t understand all the fuss and bother by some people. It is a reasoned and reasonable letter of a person who is seeing outside of the box . It shows that any discussion of God and His World is even bigger than any of us can imagine. Thank you for your guidance through this important message from the one chosen for us by God the Holy Spirit to be our leader in the faith.

It is good for us to care about the environment just like it is good for us to care for our own bodies which is part of the elements as well. And our bodies are also the temple in which the Holy Spirit lives in. Notwithstanding, we are to Love the Creator more than the creation, evil people will love the creation more than God. God the Holy Spirit tells us in the Holy Bible "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-- who is forever blessed. Amen. Words are powerless when looked at individually but they have the potential for good or evil, when someone who can properly use them to his or her advantage. That is what Nathaniel Hawthorne quote means, and I fully agree with him. An example of words being used for evil could be a dictator trying to convince his people that he is best for the country. An example of words being used for good could be a civil rights activist trying to persuade people to get along and to treat everyone with respect no matter what race they re Though words can also be used for evil by anybody just by using profanity. Those words can make someone furious and the person succeeded in insulting them. The same goes for words used for good, anyone can give a compliment and can make someone happy. Words are innocent when looked at individually even Nathaniel Hawthorne states that they are powerless and just stand in a dictionary. Words cannot effectively be used for good or evil when they are individually used, but when they are combined they become different. An example could be the word filth, it means dirty but when used with you and are, they become an insult which can hurt anyone’s feelings. Words are pointless if you cannot have other words used with them to create a good or hurtful statement. Like how I showed, words are effective only with other words and if a person who knows how to effectively use words can easily use them for a good or evil cause. Throughout history, words have been used for both good and evil purposes. A good example of words being used by a man who knew how to use them for evil purposes was Adolf Hitler. With his speeches he was able to convince Germany that Jews were evil and that they needed to create the perfect race. The effectiveness of his words caused much pain and suffering to innocent people, but if he did not know how to effectively use words, nobody would have listened to him. A good example of words being used for the good of America during oppressive times was Martin Luther King, Jr. He was able to persuade people to treat everyone equally no matter what color their skin was. He was able to effectively use words to support his cause and because he knew how to use them, he became a civil rights icon. Words can also be used to persuade someone for a good or bad reason. The reason could be minor things from trying to make you buy a product to making you do something you might later regret. I have been persuaded many times throughout my life for both good and bad because somebody was able to use words effectively. One time I was persuaded into believe that taking a dollar or two from my mom’s purse was okay because she would give me the money anyway. The person (my brother) was able to use words for evil and made me believe something that wasn’t good and for him to buy ice cream. A time I was persuaded for good was when I was helped my aunt move her belongings when she bought a home. My mom used words for good by making me do something that would benefit my aunt. Words can also be used for good or evil on any advertisement. Advertisements try to persuade you to buy a product, whether its for a good or bad cause depends on your beliefs. Commercials try to make you buy any product from food to cars they are not doing anything evil, but if you do not like something that they are trying to sell, like fur coats, then you may believe that they are evil. Advertisements can also be on magazines, newspapers,etc., and they also want to make you buy or join something. It depends on what is being advertised to determine if its good or evil like an ad for the armed forces, patriots would think its good, while other who hate war will think its awful. The words used in the advertisements have to be effective or else no one would support the cause or buy the product. Persuasiveness has also affected my life in both good and bad ways. My mom is easy to persuade because I can use words that can make her believe that she is doing the right choice, so if I want something I just have to use the right choice of words and I always get what I want. Like the time I was able to get my PS3 only a week after I got The Wii. My mom being easy to persuade has also had its bad times. My father was able to persuade her to get a two door car even though there was four members in my family. It was annoying doing the extra work to get into the car just because he used the right words so he could have a more appealing car. Words have also affected many stories like the book I recently read called Bel-Ami by Guy de Maussapant. The main character George Duroy used words to seduce married women for his selfish desires. He did the same thing to two married women and a soon to be married wealthy woman. He told the three of them that he was madly in love with them and that his heart desired them. He was able to pretend to care for them but he only wanted to fulfill his needs. He was a successful writer for a newspaper called the Vie Francaise, which gave him the ability to use words for his benefit. When he needed to get rid of his wife to marry a wealthy women he caught his wife committing adultery with the minister of foreign affairs. He had two mistresses on the side but being the way he was he was furious and wanted to destroy the minister’s credibility so he did it with a simple article and after that he was of no importance. Speeches and everyday conversations can be good or evil because they can end in an argument or to a happy talk. Speeches are usually written to persuade or inform and they have to be written by someone who can use words, so they can either be good or try to persuade you to go against something. Everyday conversations can be good or bad. When couples are just talking and one of them says something they didn’t mean, it can start an argument which is not good. They can also be good, like during a conversation someone could give another a compliment and it can have good results. The quote has some significance in my life because I want the ability to make people believe what I say. If I could use words to my advantage I could persuade people to do things I want and make them feel like they are doing the right thing. As of today though I have very little persuasive power. I am very easy to persuade when it comes to peer pressure because I like to please people especially if its something that would make people laugh. But when it comes to more serious matters I am rarely persuaded. Also words really do not affect me because I really do not like talking as much as I enjoy fighting. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s quote makes sense to me and I can support it with personal experiences. Words have been used for both good and evil purposes throughout history. The quote does have some significance in my life but not much.

@Michel Martinez the problem with inclusion is that once we go down that road we end up excluding the very people and ideas that founded the church. Christ did not go to brothels and other sinful places to call taxpayers and prostitutes. They came to him because they were tired of the pleasure they were seeking not giving them the fulfilment they were yearning for, the vast majority of tax payers and prostitutes in jesus' time did not come to him because they were still caught up with the pleasures of their sin and had no desire within them to seek him. Today the modernists would have the church water down its message to make sinners feel at home with their sin within the church rather than encourage the sinner to change his ways and that is the ultimate goal of inclusion.

@@rd8987 If I could object one thing: while some tax collectors and prostitutes were seeking Jesus, He definitively went to some other: the aldulterous woman found mercy when she was about to be stoned and did not seek him, Jesus went to the office of Levi to call him... We do need to reach at to those in need, and especially those in need spiritually
@rd8987
@rd8987 4 жыл бұрын
@@laetitiaprotais6326 You missed my point. I did not say Jesus did not go to them I said Jesus did not go to the BROTHELS and call them. Not to say that Jesus cannot manifest his presence in even the most sinful of places but that while He was incarnated on earth he did not go around begging for people to follow Him and making His message more palatble and acceptable so no one would feel excluded. He knew He was the truth, the way and the life and people genuinely seeking that would seek Him, and he would meet them, and even if it seemed that he went to them, in reality they went to him, they responded to the call of God to seek him and he met them where they were, and then called them to a higher standard. Those who were still enjoying their life of sin and had no desire for change were not going to seek him no matter what, He would not and still will not mess with free will. This by its very nature is exclusive by default. The Church has always recognised this and any attempt to make this message more "inclusive" by watering-down the teachings of Christ and the Magisterium to either make it ambiguous or more "acceptable" is a rejection of the very nature of Christ Himself. Christ call is a call to come out of a life of sin and a complete transformation rather than just a superficial sentimental crutch. He did not compromise his message to the death, and entrusted it to us, it is absolutely shameful when we simply throw that away because we want others to think better of us.

Good video, but one minor nitpick: your use of the word "technocratic" =/= how the term is normally and traditionally used, and could be confusing--I prefer using Bp. Barron's neologism of "scientism" as the modern world's cultural obsession with the sciences and fallacious belief that science is the supreme or only form of truth. Technocracy was/is a specific form of totalitarian government regime that was proposed in the US and, like Fascism and Marxist/Stalinist Communism, gained traction during the Great Depression, though unlike them has never been accepted by any actual regimes and, while popular in Science Fiction, as a real political movement died out quietly during the Cold War. Like how Fascism took the ideas of us-versus-them Nationalism and Social Darwinism to its logical extreme and Marxist/Stalinist Comunism took the ideas of Class Warfare and Redistribution of Wealth to theirs, Technocrats advocated for taking militarized bureaucracy, academia and technical expertise to their logical extreme by granting control of all aspects of society to technical experts rising through a military-style ranked hierarchy on the basis of aptitude tests, skill assessments by their superiors, and data analysis, plus an emphasis on self-sufficiency and isolationism of each new technocratic state. While the root fallacy used to justify the technocratic worldview, scientism leads to a wide variety of other political philosophies as well, so it seems weird to name the fallacy after just one of those groups, particularly when the name of the group literally means 'rule by experts,' not 'rule of science'.

The Baptism of John was a ceremony of repentance! Born Again.. Peter expressed his Spiritual condition when our Savior asked, "who do they say that I am? What is He asking? What's happening here? Peter gave the most passionate answer! Peter answered and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. 30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him. In this moment all of the scriptural support for the Papacy, succession and authority come from what the Savior said to Peter. Matthew 16:15-17 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Without adding additional meaning I need to point out that Peter expressed what it is to be Born Again! . Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. (I believe He means see the Kingdom in the present!) A spiritual reality not seen by the world. Born again a spiritual condition equipping the saints. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Born of water is natural birth! and of the Spirit is Spiritual birth! Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Some think baptism is born again but it's never tied to the baptism event in Scripture. 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Do you see it now..

But Fr. Casey, surely the Bible teaches that Man is to be Steward over all Creation and thus, is Lord over all Creation? Was that not Adam's responsibility? Laudato Si seems to be attempting to remedy Man's disregard for Creation's dignity by arguing that we are equal with Creation but I think the issue is not that Man sees himself as superior to Creation. I think the issue is that Man believes that because he is superior, he can do as he will, disregarding the very question of whether or not Creation has a dignity to be upheld. The remedy to Man's abusive Lordship should be the request for a benevolent Lordship, not an abandonment of Lordship in favour of equality. At least, that's how I see it. Interesting video, nonetheless.

Speaking on behalf the pope in "Laudato Si" and his defense of our environment is a noble exercise. However, when you point out the pope's mindset in "Laudato Si" when he says "We must be like the saint who saw all of God's creatures not in regard of their utility but as ends in themselves", I find a hypocrisy in his position of silence on the subject of the Chinese government's abuse of 1 million Uighur Muslims according to a signed document by 70 faith leaders from across the world. Pope Francis did not sign. See RNS Religion Service 8/11/2020 article by Claire Giangrave. This silence about the plight of these people according to FP News "Pope Francis's Silence on Xinjiang Speaks Volumes, a pope dedicated to human rights has said nothing on China, thanks to a secret deal with Beijing", appears to fall into the category of using them in regard of their utility. One could argue that he's saying these Muslims are not God's creatures (referencing back to the "Laudato Si" statement).

A jolly good attempt to save a rather poetical yet deeply flawed pontifical teaching e.g. 'Enforceable international agreements are urgently needed, since local authorities are not always capable of effective intervention. Relations between states must be respectful of each other’s sovereignty, but must also lay down mutually agreed means of averting regional disasters which would eventually affect everyone. Global regulatory norms are needed to impose obligations and prevent unacceptable actions, for example, when powerful companies or countries dump contaminated waste or offshore polluting industries in other countries.' Francis, Laudato Si', 173. When these political arrangements are agreed and then enforced, yet contrary to Catholic Teaching, which shall the Church follow - the global regulatory norms or the principles of moral reason that is the Faith .... if the recent worldwide malaise is an example it must always be the enforceable international agreements not least on local communities; a lesson few have bothered to consider let alone learn.

While I think we need to take care of God's creation, I do think we are free to worship God the way our minds says. In Laudato Si, it says that Sunday should be forced on people to keep it. There are people who still believe that Saturday is the sabbath. In Laudato Si, it says that we've sinned against nature, but in the bible says that you can't sin against nature. You only sin against God, because sin is the transgression of the law. God's law. That's why we are here, to begin with. That's way Israelites in the Old Testament was led to captivity because they transgressed God's law. Today we don't keep God's law, but rather we prefer to keep human's tradition more than God's law. We have to be careful to not fall to worship the creation more than God. If God said to not worship any image, we should do that. If He said to keep His sabbath(Saturday) we should do that. If we obey Him the way He wants even if the planet will be destroyed, He will create a new one because this one for sure will be destroyed. "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." Revelation 21:1 Chancellor Albert Smith for Cardinal of Baltimore Archdiocese, letter dated February 10, 1920: If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day by God is Saturday. In keeping the Sunday, they are following a law of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Mirror (September 23, 1893): The Catholic Church, for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday... The Adventists are the only body of Christians with the Bible as their teacher, who can find no warrant in its pages for the change of day from the seventh to the first. Hence their appellation, "Seventh-day Adventists." “Pope,” Ferraris’ Ecclesiastic Dictionary: The Pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the vicar of God. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:5 Catholic American Sentinel (June 1893): Sunday...It is a law of the Catholic Church alone... We need to search the Scriptures because there we will find the truth.

Worshipping nature is not really the message. The message is that humanity and nature are interconnected in such a way that if we destroy nature, we will eventually destroy or harm people. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t killing innocent people a sin, especially the poor who are defenseless? Also, on top of that, nature itself has its own intrinsic value as it was created by God. Since we were commanded “to cultivate and care for it”, we have the responsibility to protect it. Sunday is the Catholic sabbath.

And now they will "save" the situation by forcing moral laws on the land. We need to get back to God and listen Him only. If we keep His commandments we will inevitable expres love to each onof us. KJV Romans 13 Love One Another 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. Today we live in a world of selfishness. The love of God is not in human hearts. KJV 2 Timothy 3 Paul Warns of Stressful Times 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Catholic Record (September 1, 1923): The [catholic] Church is above the Bible, and this transference of the Sabbath observance is proof of that fact. We need to listen to God rather the human's tradition and we will be in a much better spot than we are now today. Man cannot change what God said and did. KJV Ecclesiastes 3 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. KJV Mark 7 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Can you direct me to the exact part of Laudato Si that proposes [forcing] a Sunday Sabbath on others? Every time I hear this line, no one offers source material from the actual encyclical, but instead they link it to a dubious 1923 newspaper article. It's incredibly annoying

This is the pope encyclical which means climate change encyclical. But if you read and understand it, he just want to exalt the sabbath "sunday". They know that the true sabbath is Saturday but they change it according to the Catholic record September 1 1923. We experience now the Sunday law through the crisis Covid 19..

@@samuelmanaois5628 it’s wrong to change the rules in the bible, only God has the right to change the rules. 7th day is sabbath period. Ignoring sabbath is still sin even if you celebrate on Sunday, the Catholics also completely removed 1 commandment which is very wrong.

I will never follow Sunday law. It is not a commandment of God the father in heaven.
