Woa!! So cool. How was your experience?
@amberjulia123
@amberjulia123 Жыл бұрын
@@marylinramos4300 it was unlike any church I’d ever been too, but it felt right. My husband said it felt like the people who attended were truly there for the right reasons and he liked that no one was there trying to impress to be modern or lure people in with “cool” music and lights , etc. (We used to attend a mega-church from 2015-2017 before leaving because we lost faith in the whole thing.) Our daughter (who just turned 11) complained at the service that she was bored and that the church seemed like a “cult” 😂 with everyone repeating the same things and actions. She hated the music and said she hated how we kept having to kneel and then stand, etc. But I expected that reaction from a child who didn’t really grow up in church. That evening when we were putting her to bed, she broke down in tears and told us how she loved us so much it hurt and she said thank you for being such good parents. I’ve never witnessed her feeling so overcome with love that it brought her to tears…and it was truly out of nowhere, we were just kissing her goodnight as we always do. That spoke volumes to me about how church affected her heart that day. We plan to go again this coming Sunday.

I've heard kids say it feels cultish as a criticism before. If your daughter gets hung up on it, for the sake of clarity you can tell her that the thing that makes cults bad is that their leaders are never worthy of worship, but our leader is Jesus, and He *is* worthy of worship - infinitely so.

@@kevinrhatigan5656 Well I live in Nottinghamshire in England, and the closest seminary to me would be Oscott in Birmingham, however, there have been occasions where our Bishop has appointed various individual to go to Seminary in Rome for 6 years. - In response to your first question on the 1 year Spain discernment seminary experience, was not mandatory within the Roman Catholic Church to attend this 1 additional year in Valladolid Spain for a discernment period, but recently that got changed and seminarians where I am located have to go to Valladolid Spain for a yearly discernment period for the Church to determine whether they really have a calling to the Priesthood, in accordance to what I have been told. Applying for seminary in England is quite a difficult process, and includes you having to go through a 12-18 month period where you have regular meetings and additional attend masses to discuss your calling, and when the Bishop thinks you are ready he will give you a letter which you sign, and then you proceed to have an interview for the process to begin, which for me is March 2024. Thank you Fr. Casey. 53 years ago I “committed to Christ” or better said, confessed Jesus is my Lord. I didn’t know the Church and my Family would be upset by this.I wasn’t betraying the Church, I thought I was making a deeper commitment, and strongly considered a vocation. Eventually, I was tossed out of my family and the Church. I don’t know what I did or said wrong. Since then, I’ve mostly attended Protestant churches, although I sneak in to worship in the tradition of the Ancients occasionally. Once I was on a mission to NYC to work with the homeless, and when visiting St. Patrick’s, I realized we happened upon the start of an Advent Friday Mass. I left my friends and joined the worshippers, later having a wonderful and open discussion about The Real Presence. Thank you Father for giving me hope for the Church.

Good afternoon Father Casey, Thank you very much for your videos. They mean a lot and are thought provoking for where I am at in my human travels. I don't understand what provoked the meanness behind the tweets you received, but I hope their writers find true peace and realise how hurtful their words can be and change their way. Again thank you, and please keep making your great, funny, and heartfelt videos. You make a difference. Thank you.

You are a much better person than I could ever be in the face of those negative comments. I love your videos and, even as a much older person, I still learn so much from your messages. Please know that you have many more of us who strongly support you than the few who may find points to criticize. Please stay strong and continue your good work. May God continue to bless you. Sending love and support.

Hi Fr. Casey, following from Nigeria. The deep insights in your videos are a conviction of the workings of the Spirit in our time. This is evident, as it helps everyone connect and listen to Jesus journeying closely and speaking to us just about every concern in our modern times. I know it's a dangerous and sensitive venture... May our Lord continue to speak and work through you. I am a Carmelite. I must say, you inspired me as a student involved in publications and media works. Keep hoisting our Lord's standard ❤ Many thanks!

Do not despair! I am glad you are making these videos, and, even though I am 60 years old, I am glad to have a bit of a refresher on many topics about being Catholic you have been covering. And I love the popular culture stuff - including films, etc., that can be related (one way or another) to being Catholic is very eye-opening. And of course including Father Patric is WONDERFUL! I'm sure he has injected a bit of wisdom into your life, as he has, mine. And, I hope, he's gotten a few new ideas from you! As we used to say, back in the Empire: fortis manere, vigilate

I'm a cradle catholic and I've learned a lot from your videos; you do fantastic work! I'm glad you're keeping the right focus and remaining humble - yours is a *very* dangerous job. Far too many "celebrity priests" end up having a big fall (Fr. Corapi, Fr. Pavone, etc); stay grounded and faithful. I'll be praying for you as well. Please keep up the good work! :)

Dear Father Casey, I used to be a part of a Catholic Worker Movement associated with the Episcopal Church (St. Joseph's in Durham NC), where we would pray morning and evening prayer, and feed the homeless a nice breakfast in the parish hall every weekday (Mon-Fri). Most of my friends from that group either became Roman Catholic, or Anglican, some from Methodist backgrounds. The group no longer exists, but we used to be called the Community of the Franciscan Way. We would even walk barefoot frequently. We had a notable diversity of thought, with a Romanian Orthodox Parish using the upper room of the Parish Hall (It was a large upper room), St. Joe's itself being Episcopal, and the CFW having an interesting mix of Anglo-Catholic Magesterial Reformed Theology (basically Roman Catholic eventually) and Roman Catholic Franciscan Tradition. Indeed, I was one of the only members who did not become Roman Catholic. However, I found myself not only agreeing with most of them, but even defending them against others who thought the CFW was a cult, with some of those accusations relating to their acceptance of Roman Catholicism. I see it as a great disservice to Christianity for anyone to disregard the person in favor of a cheap insult. I may be more Anglo- than Roman-, but I love the tradition, even the Medieval tradition. I want you to pray for me, for I see your strength against the gates of hell, and it inspires me to be a better Christian.

Fr. Casey, I'd like to express my thanks to you. Over the past few months, I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos (and those where you are joined by Fr. Patrick). You've played an important part in the growth of my faith. While I was raised in a Christian family, baptised as a young child and attended Church of England schools (over in the UK), I was agnostic as a boy. And in my late teens and throughout my twenties, I would describe myself as atheist. But from my early-30's, I found myself slowly heading towards God. Given my upbringing and background, I started to attend my local Anglican Church - and at the age of 36 was confirmed. But since then, I've felt that something was missing. And I've been drawn to the Catholic faith. Your videos have provided useful guidance and information. And I'm now ready to make inquiries at my local Catholic Church about converting. So, this is a message of thanks!

Father, your humility is edifying. 😊 Thank you for your authentic witness to the Catholic faith and your online evangelization ministry work. In regards to the responses you’ve received from other Catholic media folk commenting/pushing back on your statements of the faith, do you plan to engage with them in collaborative discussions on these topics? Would be a very fruitful thing to consider and opportunity to draw your audience into the nuances of the teachings you propose.

Dear Fr. Casey, You are a wonderful asset on the internet. I enjoy your friendly and deeply Christian view of all things Roman Catholic. I am an Anglican Catholic and agree with almost all of your comments. Where we differ is inconsequential. Where we agree is centered on our shared faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you my brother.

I’m 75 years old and I find your videos insightful and and informative. The only thing I can’t agree with you on is your opinion of Fr Richard Rohr, whose teachings have impacted my life in a profound way. But you’re still young and your wisdom will increase with age! Since Bishop Barron faces similar criticism all the time, I’d say you’re in great company. Keep on going Fr Casey…you are doing very well! Oh, and I will remember to pray for you.

@@hoakerhoaker thank you. It’s been tough since Easter (he died 11:45 pm on Holy Saturday), but I carry on, because there is no other choice. His legacy was his unwavering love of the Lord. I was his sponsor into the Church, and I teased him with his fire for God, as a new convert he made us cradle Catholics seem lame! Thank you again.

My life is the classic story of a Catholic who left during highschool/college and now I'm in the process of coming back to the Church. Next weekend, I am attending my first Catholic Retreat put on by my Dioceses. Your videos were the first that I found on KZfaq that answered my deep questions and now my feed is packed with The Catholic Talk Show, Father Mike Schmitz, Pints with Aquinas, and others. My Catholic cultural immersion started with you. Thank you! ❤
