Pushing Through to the Finish: Connections + Transitions
Do you ever feel like you just don't know how to achieve harmony and color balance in your art? Me too. In fact, I've spent years trying different methods to master a harmonious flow in my paintings. I must say Marabeth as I was focusing on your piece as you were adding to it bit by bit and explaining to us your thought process, I saw in your painting a very awesome transparency as though we were looking at a pond that had layers of hidden gorgeous tidbits in the layers of the water, almost as if you dove into it all those petals, leaves, flowers and colorful debris would wash all over you as you went deeper and deeper. Lovely piece, very moving and tactile even though abstract.

The "YES" factor! I am STILL working on my project that I was inspired to do from taking your incredible class! Chomping at the bit to varnish it to really bring out the colors and layers; but 😬 trying soo hard to restrain myself until I truly have that YES Factor!! 😅😅

It’s really hard, isn’t it? I still have to work at it with almost every painting. Tip: if you use an acrylic based varnish, like Liquitex satin varnish, then if you change your mind later and want to keep working, you can!

I started my first piece after taking your class and put it away as I got SO frustrated at the way it was turning out. This video has encouraged me to keep going and to have patience. Thanks for posting this!

I’m so happy you watched this then-being frustrated with the result of a new process you are just learning is completely normal and expected, so you’re in good company and right on track. Trying to focus more on the process than the result will help.
