I have another one! :) I think someone else, maybe Zeltic or Monster Maze mentioned this, but if you go to one of the stables in Hebra/Tabantha, you will find someone who tells you that one of their horses got lost in the North Lomei Labyrinth, and right outside the Labyrinth there is a stalhorse (maybe with a stalkoblin, I can't remember) which is like the spirit of the lost horse!

I like to think that they don’t just stop existing during the day, more like they just can’t keep themselves pulled together in the harsh sunlight so they just whisp away during the day and at night they pull their physical form back together. The stal enemies have hands so they can bury themselves during the day to escape the sun, but the horse doesn’t have a choice.

With the last theory maybe some of Ingo's own Malice was left in the ranch area. It's of course not really dangerous but still there. The Stalblins can feel it nudge on their spirits. So they just feel a compulsory need to mirror what Ingo's Malice left there.

A bit of a thought on the statues and how they relate to Koroks: It could be that the intention wasn't to relate them to children who died during the Calamity, but it could be a way to honor to Koroks - who are the descendants of the Kokiri, who were a race of perpetual children. This could be why Koroks hang around the statues all of the time, because the statues were placed there in their honor or memory.

If there are two Stalkoblins, maybe it's the Gorman Brothers who raced Link in Majora's Mask? They were the ones who had the Garo mask. And since the Garo are within Ikana, the Kingdom of the *Dead*, it would make more sense for it to be them than Ingo who was just a normal ranch hand as maybe the Gorman bros may have been either descendants of the Garo since they both wear the mask when going after Cremia's milk wagon, and are the only other characters to wear this particular mask other than the garo themselves, or maybe they knew of some of the Garo's secrets and used them to keep their spirits around. *Shrugs* Probably not the best theory, but it was just something that came to me.

I think its fitting that the koroks, the tree spirits or children of the forest, would hide within the statues built to honor lost children. #TheoryThoughts T1 - Kokiri and Koroks have always seemed associated with "the lost children," especially back in OoT. The fact that many of these statues have Koroks attached could imply they still are in BotW? Maybe it is something of the spirit granted by Farore returning to (wait for it) their ROOTS? T3 - Could the second stahl-rider be referencing the brothers from MM? Or maybe it is spirit of Ingo still stuck and unable to move on, forever trying to beat the hero in that race - so there must be a second rider for him to lose to every night.

Man the Ranch Ruins would explain a lot about why I'm able to hear Malon's voice when wandering the fields at night in Twilight Princess. Her voice just sounds so eerie and sad as if she was singing a distorted version of Epona's Song and just the thought that her ghost could be somewhere out there alone in the darkness makes it even more sad. And it seriously makes me want to get revenge on what Ganon did to her and her family.

Since the sequel is based in the same world, it would be nice if some of the same NPC characters are in it too. Like a slightly older Koko and Cottla and if maybe in that game, there was a side quest about their mother. I've seen people speculate that the green hand that Link absorbs is made of spirit energy so it would be cool if he had to use it to either reunite them with their mother or pass on a message.

A bit after you enter Fort Hateno, there's a small area where you have to shoot an arrow into the eyes of one of the statues to unlock and finish the shrine quest, "The Cursed Statue". Its sorta hidden but you can find it if you look for it or exploring the area. What if the reason why there are so many statues there is to honor the children who died in the battle of Fort Hateno or something like that? It's really secluded but it's a pretty place with nightshades and glowing mushrooms. It makes me sad everytime I go there.

The goddess statue having a bib in Kakariko Village is another Jizo reference, as grieving parents put a red bib on Jizo statues, so it protects their children in afterlife.

Ingo became a good man after losing to Link, maybe his negative feelings and obsession was driven out and took a life of its own, becoming the stalkoblin?

I think my favourite dark Zelda theory had to be that the shrine monks are redeads, who may have been prisoners of the royal family that the Sheikah turned into the undead messengers to the hero. There’s a good chunk of evidence for the monks being redeads, given how similar their designs are to the WW ones, and we know that the Sheikah are capable of some pretty horrifying things (look at the shadow temple in OoT for example). In BOTW 2, it would be really cool to get a proper explanation of exactly why the Yiga dissented from the Sheikah - did they disagree with some of the horrific things the tribe did in the name of the royal family, perhaps?

Now thinking about the statues theory, it make me sad and also, more curious about the ones from "The Cursed Statue". Sad for the statues themselves, but curious about the one with the purple eyes.😬

If one is a reference to Ingo, could two be a reference to the Gorman Brothers from Majora’s Mask? After all, they did reuse Ingo’s Ocarina of Time sprite for both of the Gorman brothers in Majora’s Mask. Also the stalkoblins carry bows, and I seem to remember the Gorman brothers were shooting Cremia’s milk delivery with arrows(though I may be confused on that point, it’s been quite some time since I played).

About the Lon Lon ranch theory, even though Ingo wasn’t a Bokoblin, maybe after he died since he pledged his loyalty to Ganon, hence why he got to keep the ranch, and Ganon can revive creatures and create stal-monsters, maybe Ganon turned Ingo into the stal-bokoblin

Those statues all all over the place inside Typhlo ruins (the almost completely dark area where you need to kill a Hinox without the help of light). If you bring your motorcycle in there, the headlights will be this very apparent. I wouldn’t even have known those statues were there without the help of those headlights.

Slightly less depressing, but I think those jizo statues may also be a reference to Link as a traveller and the Koroks are "children of the forest" themselves. Possibly a little easter egg back to Ocarina of Time.

I was fascinated by the theory that the shadow hamlet ruins are all that remain of when a small settlement was burned to the ground by a fire wizrobe and everyone in it was killed.

I kind of wonder if the plan for Koko and Cottlas mother would have tied in with Cottla's games of hide and seek? since her line is about her mother hiding. Like, if it turns out Cottla has been playing hide and seek with her mothers ghost.

Ingo was a useless ranch hand, not a part owner. He took the ranch from them, that part you got right... also, ingo has a twin brother, as shown in majoras mask... Maybe the second one is a reference to him?
