Not about ruins, but I'd like to see, maybe in a future video, theories about different businesses, trading spots, and material gathering spots and how these could have effected the villages surrounding them.

I hope the sequel adds some Indiana Jones style escapades. Archeology, dungeon crawling, and the identification of little details to discover the culture that later helps in the main dungeon.

Lol. Hopefully they don't just restore the existing castle and build the new one on the great plateau. Maybe they clean the old one up and move what is in working order from that site, but the plateau just makes way, way more sense to put the castle and castletown on this site. Restore the temple of time, have the high ground for the main castle and town as well as ways to tunnel down to the lowlands and roads below. The outpost restored on the road heading towards the old castle. There are two water sources, it would be possible to stockpile food and weapons and make it harder for enemies to ever reach the castle. No guardians to be able to climb up in the sequel, so it makes sense as that technology might no longer work or exist.

So a completely random thought: The Hyrulean army must have been HUGE. When you mensioned the military I came to think about this: In BOTW we get the Soldier's Armor. If we look at Age of Calamity we can see that this armor was used not by the regular infantry, but the higher ranking soldiers like captains and knights, who would lead squads or platoons or whatever (I'm no military expert). So if we look at the Champions Ballad memory in BOTW we can see that in the sanctum during the ceremony, in the background there are maybe 30-40 of these captains wearing this armor. Then consider that's only the amount of Hylian Captains stationed at or around Hyrule Castle. Then all of these Captains would lead a whole lot of soldiers each. In comparison to any real life army this might not sound like a lot, but considering how small of a country Hyrule actually is, it is quite a lot of soldiers. Edit: Ok so I counted the Captains and there are about 100 of them in that cutscene alone...

Who were they fighting?? An isolated kingdom at peace doesn't sink its resources into a giant military force just to look pretty. I agree with you that going by in-game data they had a huge army. I just want to know WHY lol.
@X24-SC21V
@X24-SC21V Ай бұрын
@@missbeans I assumed it was because they had strong reason to believe that an earth-shattering being of pure evil would be arriving to wipe them out and usher in untold ages of darkness within their lifetimes... But I'd also buy the narrative that they're not actually so isolated from other kingdoms. If you check out the map of Zelda 2, you can see how small Hyrule actually is (bottom right corner of the map), and how vast the mountainous regions are to its north and west. The mountains immediately north of the Death Mountain region are positively riddled with caves and tunnels. If you play the game (Z2), you'll discover that an extremely hostile crocodile-like tribe called the Daira live in those tunnels, and their territory is at least as big as Hyrule--as much as twice as big (I can't remember if they're found in the northern areas or not; I seem to remember them only appearing farther south).

If there's a thing I love in a game, it is ruins. These little paceful buildings are both half-destroyed and slowly getting embraced by nature, and express little pieces of information that make you think "something happened here". This sense makes me feel so good and together can make you form a puzzle in your head, like how all the ruins near the Hyrule field are from unstoppable guardians as a result of the Calamity. But now, they are little amounts of bricks which promove some rest for travelers, and the shadows of what they were 100 years ago...

I think that it's possible the Hero of Legend founded the 'real' Mabe village, along with naming the places on Eventide Island (Toronbo Beach and Koholint Rock). I think this is because 1. who else would know about those places, and 2. If my own experience is anything to go off, it's his favourite adventure, even if it was a dream. He wanted everyone else to be able to experience the same thing he did... Fishing with the old man... Talking with _sob_ with Marin... playing with Bowwow...

Oh, hey, I had the exactly same thought when this video came to Mabe Village! Yes, I indeed like the idea that the Link who visited Coholint Island was the one who founded this Mabe Village after he returned to Hyrule. Who knows, pehaps he wanted to create a place as peaceful as the original Mabe Village, and a memento to the inhabitants of the island...
@marhawkman303
@marhawkman303 3 жыл бұрын
@@AiorosSagittarius Well there's another idea. WHERE did Koholint come from? The obvious answer is is "well duh it's the dream of the Wind Fish!" Except that... it's hinted that the inhabitants of the dream world are based on people/places the Wind Fish had seen IRL. Where were all of those?

Ruin 5: The water has carved it's way into the ground, creating a gouge for itself. Something like that doesn't happen in a matter of a few decades, much less a few weeks (if Vah Ruta was responsible). So those ruins at the bottom of Lake Akkala would have to be at least a couple centuries (if not millennia) old. They probably only look the same as any other ruins because of time constraints.

Rivers (and their waterfalls) can dry up or just diminish, though, for perfectly natural reasons, leaving behind the (larger) channels that they carved into the landscape for (sometimes) centuries after. I would find it exceptionally interesting (if unlikely) to consider that the Breath of the Wild waterfalls might be renewed or flooded channels as presented in the video (not necessarily from the Divine Beast, but possibly inasmuch as the presence of the sleepy Zora on top of the Shika tower indicates that the Divine Beast has been doing its over-hydration thing since WELL before Link wakes up and activates the Towers), and that the reason for the outpost at the base of the waterfalls, and indeed the placement of the (otherwise) absurdly massive military HQ nearby, might have been originally to guard the (probably hidden) entrance to an underground cavern system. Perhaps the underground cavern system featured in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer. (I grant that the notion is exceptionally unlikely, but it would be *tidy* from a world-building perspective.)
@FruitRat
@FruitRat 3 жыл бұрын
@@Doskious i assumed the akkala citadel was so large because it's on the coast, the most likely path of invasion from non-ganon forces. hyrule is protected by mountains to the north, desert to the west and jungle to the south, but akkala is extremely exposed to invasion from the sea. the outpost might be to back up the larger citadel, tho idk why you'd put it somewhere surrounded by cliffs

Looking at that map of what the most populated areas were in Hyrule just makes me wonder that much more about what happened at the ruins around the Tabantha tower to cause such a massive bog of malice to form there. I guess it could just be contaminated water since an info card in the loading screen says that pools of malice can form that way, but still most of the areas where we see that much of it are places where a lot of people died during the Calamity.

The Forgotten Temple has a yahahai on the top exterior and the best way to get there is to wait out the arrival of Dinraal, a dragon, that constantly makes updraft wherever it goes. Dragon updrafts are special, as they refill stamina each time you pull out the glider after you stop using it. what’s more interesting is that there are pillars placed inside the canyon near the entrance to the temple, which is an area the dragon doesn’t fly through. the pillars are so intricately placed like they’re marking the entrance to the temple

Hi! I've loving watching these videos so far. Can I request the next ruins you do are some in the rainforest of the faron region? Theres a bunch of random statues and houses (?) there and at the top of the waterfalls there seems to be a deeply sunken ruin which seems interesting to look into. Thank you!

@@HyruleGamer i also have a theory about the timeline and breath of the wild, its basically the sheikha using time stone energy which forced all the timelines together its also why i think malice has such a strong presence because its from 3 timelines and why the royal family became scared of the sheikah and their tech because they found out. i think this is why so many sheikah stayed behind in the shrines and did so much to try defeat gannon in the first place with the divine beasts etc to make up for what they done. i just cant put together how or why they joined the timeline my thoughts are an accident while testing the power of a large timestone but ive thought this for a while now. i also think there could be a 4th timeline where link is defeted as a child and gannon enters the relm of twhilight before breaking the seal on the temple of time creating a dark timeline for hyrule
@ryotodoryu8919
@ryotodoryu8919 3 жыл бұрын
@@HyruleGamer the 4th timeline is where i think the zonai originate aswell as where gonnon was sealed with the spirit hand because we havnt seen this sealing happen yet nor has there been mention of the zonai before breath of the wild in any zelda lore i like it because it could explain ruins from older games and location movement, where the different timelines merged they might not have come from the same respective times in each timeline or events in each respective timeline changing their landscapes. making them different to one another. for example we see in twilight princess in the twilight realm floating island maybe that was use to manipulate hyrules landscape by gannon or a similar power like the dragon spirits using their power to mould hyrule over the years maybe farosh made hyrule lake bigger over the years because he grew bigger for exsample??

Something has me wondering if the entrance to the cave system is in the Akkala region, or maybe Ganondorf's semi-corpse is below-ground there. Maybe the cave entrance is watchable from the Citadel. No novel-length schpiel this time, thankfully; too cold for one. Keep warm, everyone!

Me thinking of boot camp set ups with their crawl-under-the-net, run-through-the-tires, and climb-the-rope-up-the-wall setups: You think archery and high ground combat training are more likely uses for a climbable wall than a standard military obstacle course?

The Torin Wetlands ruins may have been a village supporting Akkala Citadel, though perhaps built on even more ancient structures... I also suspect, without any real evidence, that the underwater outpost may have been flooded quite some time before the Calamity. Mainly I think that the area may undergo cyclical rising and subsidence due to tectonic activity around Death Mountain, and that each time, people forget that it's a bad place to put a town. Also, just for fun... Headcanon is that Tarry Town is built on the eroded foundations of the North Palace from The Adventure of Link. I have lots of fun trying to fit BotW Hyrule with that one.

For Ruin 4 I think the Hero of Legend tried remaking Mabe town after it disappearing and made blue prints or something to make the general structure & look of Mabe Town and someone must've stumbled upon it and made the town themselves.

11:16 well according to aoc there would be 3 confirmed settlements. The quest 'the lonely goddess' says: "A Goddess Statue stands alone on an isle in Akkala. People have vowed to build a village around the sad, solitary statue. There must be something you can do to help them." and "With houses built, the new village celebrates with a festival. The goddess Statue at the heart of it all seems to smile upon the founding of this new community." This isn't the case of being in botw since it's a different timeline, but it's cool to see that there would've been another settlement right below the tarrey town platform.

I really enjoy this series. When I first came across the forgotten temple I loved it instantly, idk why but there was just something different and mysterious about it. Now more than ever I want to play skyward sword. I haven't gotten far enough in AOC to see the village up close but when I do I will try to look. Each time I play the game I take all my time to look at all the buildings so I can see what use to be there and try to imagine what it all could have looked like. My theory about the town being similar to the one in the dream world is that Link would have of course talked about his dream upon returning from sea and most likely after having heard of it the town was designed in part like the dream world the hero had visited. I did instantly think of Lon Lon when I saw the ranch layout and it kind of hurt my heart to think of it being the same ranch.

One thing everyone overlooks when talking about the forgotten temple actually being the sealed temple is the fact that it has strong updrafts coming from the floor. Is it mere coincidence that the sealed temple also had many strong updrafts coming from the ground that the hero of the sky would use to defeat the imprisoned. I think not. The two locations line up perfectly, even right down to the updrafts.
