With Nintendo coming forward with an "official" placement for Breath of the Wild, many have assumed that it is through a convergence. Others have believed it is because they still don't have an actual placement for it. This has of course left the Zelda community with more questions than answers.
But in today's video, we'll go over the evidence showing how the game falls under all timelines, as well as how every split can end with Breath of the Wild without a convergence.

@@HDLink_mabinogi That's a easy way out. But considering the high (high, higher) fantasy nature of Zelda, we let that pass. What I think it's "wrong" is how some fans firmly believe that nintendo had everything planned out, how the story makes sense, etc.. It's obvious how there was no plan, and that's fine, it doesn't make things worse.

@@MLennholm Canonical, lol the Zelda franchise have no defined canon mate, Nintendo just create things on the fly. The only canonical Nintendo series is Metroid, it followed a minimal structure. Now Zelda (and Mario, DK, etc.. You name it) is all over the place. Nintendo is gameplay first, story later. And even if we take the "lore" of Zelda seriously, it still about a typical high fantasy were the princess, knight and villain are tied by destiny, literal avatars of gods fighting each other. This is very basic, nothing extraordinary about it.

They dont think that much about the storyline. In my application to Digipen College I talked to a few representatives about whether the students were ever able to help on Zelda games and if the stories were possibly contributed to by the students there. They werent, they dont even think about the story until the gameplay, mechanics and base of the world and game are made. At least back then. I assume they still dont worry about story to much until they are relatively done with all the hard work in making the game fun to play. So they basically shoehorn in the stories and until skyward sword never really cared if they lined up in a timeline.

Well, the games are *legends* . Legends are unauthenticated stories. They could contain truth to them, but they are not necessarily factual, and I think that's pretty much what Nintendo is implying with BotW. I think that's also why they decided to change Link's default appearance to sort of let people know this is a new era for Hyrule, which all the previous games being mere *legends* . It's sort of an interesting way to soft-reboot the franchise, which is what I think Nintendo did with BotW. This means they could include any elements from any of the previous games, and I think that's why we see things from all the timelines.

Keegan McGloughlin They only did this to please the American fans of the series. Again, Aomuma and co have been very explicit in interviews saying the Legend of Zelda was created with the very specific intention of it being non-chronological. They also were following a formula they were reluctant to follow. BotW is them giving up on the fandom and saying "we are going to do what we want and you can't control. We are going to do what we should have done from the beginning."

It is hard to say really. Some things indicate that the skull kid was from Kokiri forest and was the one who speak to in the future. It is quite possible that certain events would've caused it to fall one way or another. Plus the Happy Mask salesman had to get robbed as well and it is quite possible that the skull kid obtaining the ocarina of time made the situation much much much worse than it would've been. Who knows how many times the Skull Kid rewound time to mess with everyone before losing it to you.

Lon Lon Ranch didn't exist in Termina; there was Romani Ranch, but its layout is completely different from Lon Lon's and it's Lon Lon Ranch that you find the ruins of in Breath of the Wild. I highly doubt that the Skull Kid would have even been ABLE to rewind time, because it was only the Goddess of Time that even helped Link do so with the Song of Time. The Skull Kid would have had to have known the song at least, but why would he know that song? He also doesn't seem to realize what the Ocarina of Time is, or that it's in any way significant.

EDIT: quick mistake it 5:37. That statue actually resembles Darmani and the Goron Elder's son. They are both from Majora's Mask which actually strengthens the child timeline sine Gor Coron is also under the same split! Well, it's time to open Pandora's box and FINALLY do an official timeline video. The reason that I held off on this for a long time was because my knowledge of Zelda doesn't really extend much outside BotW. But since an official placement was revealed, I figured it was time. This video was originally going to be one, and would have probably been a whopping 25 minute episode. But since I am in my final year of college, I had to split it up. Honestly kind of scared since I don't know how I'll balance it with my channel, but I'll do my best! With this video split up, it will help a lot with my workload. Anyways, that's all. Hoping to get the next episode up in 2 weeks (Also btw at 1:30 I said "my share of videos" but I didn't mean videos that I made obviously. Just a little mess up in the wording for that part) See you guys! Make sure to subscribe if you enjoyed and share the video with your friends because it honestly does make a difference

We don't know how Link came into possession of it before that point. Its modern day placement in the forest shouldn't have anything to do with the preceding games.

what kinda creates a disconnect is that the forest in a link to the past is most likely meant to be the zitadell of time and the great plateau is a rebuilt from the time before ganon ruined hyrule castle....but that does not line up with the geographical locations of the older games.

I read someone's opinion of BOTW's placement, and they said that Nintendo might be trying to 'refresh' the timeline, and (to me) it makes sense. Maybe BOTW is like underlining all the timelines and when more games are made, the timeline will start to make sense, and then Nintendo will say what BOTW falls under. BUT I don't really understand the whole timeline debate, so I may be completely wrong (don't kill me). 👍

I finally realized what happened, why the GREAT colamity was so week.....and overall dissapointing. It's simple, it's not all of Gannon , but only a single peace of it, a very very small peace if his mallace. Notice, you fight him in the sheka lab that 10,000 tears ago . This means that he was being tested on, later on we find this testing was furtherd by the yega . This is why he is covered in the technology of the sheka clan. But as I said I......YOU FIND HIM LOCKED IN A LABRATORY!!! Meaning the Gannon we fight, who has no thought process, no plan, no nothing, he is just locked away down there and brakes out....so here is my thoughts on this. After the defeated Gannon 10,000 years ago , they took a small fragment of Gannon and revived this small portion of him. This would mean Gannon could never reincarnat, never reach his full and true power again , because he was already alive in some small portion, this and them they locked him in there labratory to never be seen again. But they warned there children about his return so they would never grow to week to defeat him. Not being able move on gannons spirit starts to take control of the gardiams and manipulates the yega to Mont his roting body with the technology , knowing that he could not control his body himself. This is why the spirit of Gannon is flying around the castle but you never fight him. This is also why link and Zelda reincarnated, because Gannon never died, and they only reincarnated after colamity gammon was Strong enough, this is why it took 10,000 years instead of the normal 1,000 in most Zelda games. This is why mallis is a black goop, it's rotting flesh, this is why Gannon is so week, it's because it's not actually Gannon, but instead his rotting corps kept alive to provent the cycle from repating it's self. An attempt that faild Thank you so much for reading this have an amazing day and God bless

My opinion is that it's in all three timelines and none of them. I'll explain. Impa says "faded into legend" and King Hyrule says "stories of Ganon", as you mention. But I have a different take: None of the three timelines actually happened in Breath of the Wild. The three timelines are, in fact, the "legends of Zelda", fairy tales concocted by the inhabitants of Hyrule, embellished over thousands of years and bearing little resemblance to what actually happened. Spirit Tracks? Just a fairy tale. The otherworldly Twilight dimension? Myth. P-bags? Legend. The Legend of Zelda.

@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged I don't think so. My view of it is similar to how the history of the world is. We know a lot about it but there are elements of our history that are muddy or inconsistent with other theories. It's the same way with Hyrule. Many elements of the known timeline are true, but much of the records conflict with each other. That's where the timeline split and different records of history come in. Much of it is true, but there's no way to know for sure which parts of it are or are not.

I have always seen each Zelda game as a different legend, a fairy tale story. Since all of the Hyrule history was just passed down by generations everything got twisted and different legends of the events were told. Haven't watched this video yet, but I personally believe the timelines merged, I believe that the Golden Goddesses are a sort of higher dimensional being, unaffected by the timeline split, therefore when the Golden Goddesses flooded Hyrule in the Wind Waker, these were the same Golden Goddesses who had statues built of them in Twilight Princess, and who manifested as Oracles in Ages and Seasons. There isn't a group of Din, Nayru, and Farore of the Adult, Child, and Downfall timelines, there's only three, if you split the timelines one million times, there'd still only be three. At some point, the Goddesses chose to merge the timelines for some unknown reason, maybe to make it easier to end the Curse of Demise in all timelines. They set about unifying the timeline, picking and choosing things from each and placing them in a single timeline, while muddying the memories of the past timelines until they're nothing but myths to the modern inhabitants. The River Zora had existed once, and some may tell tales about them, but they may not exist in this timeline. The Rito evolved from the Zora, yet no one seems to remember this, and if any would speak of it, it would likely be considered myth. The Triforce of Courage could not be taken from one timeline to another, and it shattered as the Hero of Time returned to the past with it, yet he still gained the Child Timeline's Triforce of Courage none the less. I believe the Goddesses intervened here too, both assuring the Triforce piece would shatter to train a new hero in the future the Hero of Winds, and to assure the Hero of Time retained a piece of the Triforce to prove his claims to the Royal Family.

I agree. I think that the reason Breath of the Wild takes place in all timelines is bc it takes place so far into the future that the history of Hyrule has been forgotten and obscured due to time and therefore the timelines are not really timelines but different versions of the same legend

That's speculation. I've been saying pretty much the same thing though. I think that originally at some point between SS and OoT the Deku Tree reshaped SS's Kikwi into the Korok form (or something not quite Kikwi and not quite Korok), and then the Kokiri form was made for OoT Link's benefit (pretty sure this part was blatantly stated in-game), and after OoT on any timeline branch there would be no more reason for the Kokiri form so the Deku Tree would revert them back to the form he had previously chosen for them (or just simply move on to the next idea if the form before the Kokiri wasn't quite the same as the Korok form). It'd be a coincidence that on TWW's branch there was extra incentive for a change at that time. I wonder about something though... the Deku Tree... The one that watched over the Kokiri (and whatever the Kokiri had previously been) dies in OoT (damage was too much, even with Link's help) and a new sprout is seen when we return there 7 years later. Flash forward hundreds of years and it has grown to become TWW's Deku Tree. How long had OoT's Deku Tree been alive though? Did he change the Kikwi into a different form or was that a previous incarnation before him? Now flash forward through the vague number of centuries covered by events seen on any of the three currently known timeline branches and another 10k or so more years beyond that to BotW's Deku Tree... How many times has the Deku Tree been reborn over that span of time? And he never saw the need to change them again in all that time? All incarnations of him have been happy with the Koroks? Or has that post-OoT incarnation really managed to hang in for tens of thousands of years on whatever branch you can follow to reach BotW?

Deku Tree Sprout is over 100 years old in WW. Aounuma said that WW and TP happen around the same time in their respected timelines and TP was confirmed to be several hundred years after OoT.
@MuljoStpho
@MuljoStpho 5 жыл бұрын
It's nitpicking a minor detail but TWW parallel to TP doesn't sound like it should be accurate. TWW's flood backstory parallel to TP, sure. (It's even quite easy to imagine during the first half of TP that it could have gone in that direction (though the actual flood story wouldn't have Twilight Realm monsters - it'd all be purely Ganon's influence on its own that's corrupting the land). Just instead of curing the land a few times and then the big bad retreats into his fortress and waits for you, he'd be busy reconquering each cured region and spreading his influence out to new regions while you cured the next region, and after enough rounds of that you'd have to accept it as an impossible task and the focus would shift to appealing to the gods for intervention and helping civilians evacuate.) Of course, even then "parallel" might be too precise a word to use here. "Parallel" events could each be the next really significant thing to happen on their own branches of the timeline (at least as far as we know) while also being decades apart from truly being parallel to each other. I didn't say any different from you about the Deku Tree's age in TWW anyway. I said hundreds. Plural. I assume all big gaps in the timeline that haven't specifically stated a more precise value to be "hundreds of years". (So everything that isn't a same-Link direct sequel (that's just a few months or years) or ST (which states clearly that it's exactly 100 years after TWW) or BotW (which describes a history where a previous calamity was thwarted and then 10k years later it came back and then the actual game is 100 years after it returned.)) And historical events that shape each specific game's history can get that assumption as well when they're a separate event from a previous game on the timeline. OoT -> big gap -> flood story -> big gap -> TWW/PH -> exactly 100 year gap -> ST OoT/MM -> big gap -> TP -> big gap -> FSA OoT/IW -> big gap -> LttP/Oracles/LA -> big gap -> LBW -> big gap -> AoL manual's "sleeping Zelda legend" -> big gap -> LoZ/AoL (IW = Imprisoning War, aka Seal War, which is the backstory from LttP) All those spots that say "big gap" could each be several hundred years long.

Nope. Zelda's speech 100% a references TP. In the downfall timeline Nabooru and possibly Ruto never become sages, yet they are both referred to at different points. Aonuma and the game's director both stated that there would be continuity errors in the game's lore due to history not being infallible over long stretches of time. So until they say otherwise, Child and Downfall are both equally possible. For now you can pick whichever you prefer, but you can't point to any one thing or group of things that concretely allow any placement. The discussion of this subject has been month after month of everyone trying to eliminate possibilities with very little input from the creators and very little being concrete in the game itself. Most of it boils down to there being no way to definitely say X thing could not exist in X timeline because there really is nothing to say that for sure. Koroks? Nintendo says Kokiri become Koroks over time regardless. Rito? These are different Rito that may or may not have "evolved" from Zora. Zora? There are no River Zora, but they could have reverted to their original form or the Sea Zora could have immigrated back to their ancient home. Locations? There is nothing that states a building wouldn't be built just the same in alternate timelines. It's all vague, and it's on purpose.
@Linkthroughtime77
@Linkthroughtime77 5 жыл бұрын
Zelda's speech has already been shown to not hold any evidence as she even references ALttP and WW. It has no evidence towards any timeline. Also what do you mean Nabooru and Ruto never become sages in the Downfall Timeline? OoT Link loses to Ganondorf in that timeline in the final battle. All the sages are sages that time, even Hyrule Historia says Zelda and sages seal him in the sacred realm
@TrueKoalaKnight
@TrueKoalaKnight 5 жыл бұрын
Not true about the speech. People are quick to ignore based entirely on it's content as a whole. 1) The translations that clearly reference WW and ALttP are all 2nd hand work by people not directly involved in the development of the game. 2) The other languages are Localizations, not strictly translations. Things get added that were not in the original often, and mistakes are made. (See "Ganon gave up on reincarnation" vs the correct translation "Ganon became obsessed with reincarnation".) 3) You cannot ignore out of hand that the first part of the speech is meant to be heard by all players and unambiguously references SS, OoT, and TP in that order. Meanwhile, the 2nd part is hidden beneath other characters' dialogue. It was so hard to make out what was said that people had to hack the game files to isolate what Zelda was saying. That was not meant to be heard clearly, it was hidden. That is the definition of an easter egg. 4) In context, the reference is definitely about WW. Otherwise, it becomes more vague. 海を越え 神のつくりし黄金を求めん時…… Umi o koe, kami no tsukurishi ōgon o motomen toki…… (When) crossing the seas, (or) in times when we need the Golden Power created by the gods, The second reference is about the master sword specifically. The entire second half of the speech is. Taken without the context in parenthesis, it is a reference to WW since that is the only time the sword crossed a sea in search of the Triforce. Take with the implied context, the master sword is shown to cross a sea 2 times, once in WW and once in SS. While, the times when we need the Triforce and the master sword is involved is many, SS, OoT, ALttP, ALBW, TP, and WW. Even if you narrow it down arbitrarily to when the Triforce is actively being sought after it still leaves SS, ALttP, and WW. 5) Conclusion. The first part of the speech is a clear reference, the second part is a vague easter egg. About the sages, my bad. That was evidence AGAINST the child time line I was mis-remembering. And that is the best example of how there is no definite timeline placement to be had in the game at all. And it has been states by the creators to be by design. Until they say different, the timeline placement is definitely at least 10,100 years after AoL or FSA. PS- I'm just arguing the facts. Personally, I'd prefer a Downfall placement.

9:43 Actually, that would make sense. Just think...everything that happens after Ocarina of Time is probably a way to try a rebuild a true timeline. Ganondorf seized power after obtaining the full triforce and gets either defeated or is victorious, creating the split and upsetting the balance of the world and time. And each conflict after that is an unstable method to rebuild a broken tineline centered around the Triforce. Heck, Skyward Sword made a wish on the Triforce and that led to Demise's curse for a neverending battle between good and evil. The world must be set into balance. "For every action, there is a reaction. For every wish, there is a price to pay". To conclude, the three timelines are probably trying to become a true and single timeline and Breath of the Wild may be the inevitable period that is set to correct the timeline. ...I mean, I just thought of this on the spot. Correct me if I'm wrong. Lol

Back when the game came out in 2017, I always thought that Breath of the Wild was in the adult timeline for certain. It wasn’t until earlier this year where I decided to actually consider the other possibilities, and I eventually believed that this game actually works just as equally in all 3 timelines. Honestly, I’m happy that Breath of the Wild not only contains elements from all 3 of them, but also separates itself just enough from the rest of the Zelda timeline. I feel like future Zelda games should do this as well, so the developers can take the time out to make a fully fleshed out story without having to deal with timeline contradictions. Anyways, another great video NBC!!! Keep it up!!

I also like the idea of a gradual merger. BotW showed that massive destruction can happen. It wouldn't be far-fetched if after a particularly brutal slaughter ending in near mutual destruction from both sides, the goddesses merged what's left (survivors and all) into another equally exhausted timeline. From the pov of the inhabitants, it could look like an area covered in fog for some time and gradually clearing up, and then they'd see another nomad tribe with their own sets of legends and a bunch of ruins. In the current BotW environment, at most that'd lead to a "Huh? Were these people/ruins here?" reaction. Receding floods and floating islands are also good occasions to stitch several world pieces together. Of course, this is just pure guesswork. In this case, the merger would not be some big world event, but just the compassion of the Goddesses bringing scattered survivors into a world with more people.

I know I'm responding a whole four years late, but I've thought a lot about this myself and done some digging in the past month. As we know, Impa talks about Hyrule having a cyclical history of conflicts with Ganon, and that each conflict has faded into legend. Creating a Champion goes a step further to say that these legends are so old, no one knows what actually happened and what didn't. (Although everyone seems to have some knowledge of the events of Ocarina of Time, considering the names of the Divine Beasts and the Zora history involving Ruto being a sage...) Creating a Champion also brought up in the History of Hyrule section that in the Era of Myth, Ganondorf becomes Dark Beast Ganon, and Link and Zelda combine their powers to seal him (it doesn't mention the Sages, although they aren't entirely excluded from the actual events, as it could just be that they weren't written down). Dark Beast Ganon certainly references Twilight Princess (which I haven't finished yet, so I may be wrong, but Link and Zelda are the ones to seal him, with no Sages present), but Ganondorf transforms into a beast in every other timeline split as well, although he reverts to a human again in the adult timeline following OoT. (He stays a beast in the fallen timeline, and becomes Dark Beast Ganon later on down the line in the child timeline.) Even the way Hyrule's history was written in Creating a Champion leaves the options open for BotW to be an outcome of every timeline, which I think is really cool! There are a few things that I've wondered how to reconcile, like Rito and Zora both existing if it could literally be any timeline, but the Zora's evolution to the Rito was pretty conditional, but it could just be that with enough passage of time, they could've evolved anyway... (Basically, my overthinking brain says that even if the same basic events would happen at the end of every timeline, some small details have gotta be different, right? So therefore, looking at it from a real world perspective, depending on which timeline you're following, certain details would change from timeline to timeline, so different versions of BotW exist where minor details are tweaked depending on the timeline, but I'm pretty much just overthinking at this point. Of course, it's not realistic for evidence for three separate pasts to exist, but it's a game, and the evidence for each timeline is just there more for our sake. To the Hyruleans, their distant past is a jumbled up mess of myths and legends that no one can truly decipher.) Anyways, I know I've sort of rambled by this point, but I have one more point that I thought about. In her Subdued Ceremony speech, Zelda references all the timelines. The names of the Divine Beasts are clear references to the Sages (and Medli(?), who is also a sage from a different era). This has lead me to think that regardless of timeline, it seems likely that knowledge of the events of all three timelines exist. (This also makes sense given the fact that no one knows which legends are true stories and which aren't, because there are so many and some of them don't add up.) While having knowledge of the adult timeline OoT events in the child timeline makes sense because Link and Zelda would be talking about it, it doesn't make as much sense anywhere else, so honestly, my only explanation is the copout of either Zelda had a dream or a Sheikah somewhere saw other timelines with their clairvoyance, lol. That being said, I have my own personal theories on which timeline BotW seems to fit into best, but I do love the concept of making it a possibility in any timeline, especially as a way to reunify the timeline :) It's a really cool concept that leaves options open to the players, which I think adds to the fun of it, because interactivity is the name of the game, and giving fans room to put their own spins on the lore is a really cool way of encouraging interactivity from beyond the game itself :) Anyways, I rambled, haha! I just had a lot of thoughts ;P Anyways, I love this video and I hope you've been having a great day :D

I'm going to have to correct you on this. It is impossible for BOTW to exist in the adult timeline. They themselves didn't even acknowledge a timeline until the fans speculated, then they went. "yea sure!" when it was mentioned.. Their motto is to make a game fun before they do story for that game. This is literally a game series that has little to no connections with eachother. several games do have actual connections with each other. Skyward sword is pretty much connected to all of them (I almost guarantee if it wasnt for the fan speculation skyward sword probably wouldnt of happened)

Nope, the Adult one is impossible since New Hyrule is a thing. This is CT vs DT, and CT is more likely to be it. You said it yourself, there is a lot of Twilight Princess in BOTW, Aonuma also said it before it came out. "How I see !" The Twilight thing in the traduction of the speech is irrevelant, both words can actually be used. I'm still Child Timeline and I think Nintendo may be too.

The best thing I can say is if you think about the relationship between the zora people and the Hylian people they had to make back up 10,000 years before the events of breath of the wild during the story they tell in the game, child timeline they were allies (something could have happened before 4 sword adventure but unsure) but the zora turned on hylian's almost immediately in the downfall timeline, there was a moment where they tried to recover the relationship (LBW) but a rebellion was to strong and the zora ended up being a full enemy to the hylian's by LOZ and AOL, it could have started by the hylian's showing weakness for losing to ganon during the ocarina fight and it took a few unmentioned ganon attacks to realize what they are up against and then made the pact leading up to breath of the wild putting it in the adult defeated timeline. That's my 2 cents, I was for the child timeline but that ruto into a sage comment kinda places itself in the defeated timeline.

With the release of botw 2 trailer, I think the argument that gannon is in his beast form is invalid. In the trailer it shows a being being held by a hand. I think this being is ganondorf and malice is using gannon's power and hatred to grow. It also makes sense as all bosses that are "gannon" are made of malice and not gannon himself.

The video should be called "Why the TIMELINE Placement Makes NO SENSE". I will show you how on each point you make. 1. That item makes no sense since their is no story context to go along with that salt rock. As in do people other than the tablet mention this at all? The answer is no. 2. The lynels reason for existing has a story behind it unlike the other enemies. The lynels came into being due to the fact that Ganondorf after becoming Ganon the King of Evil(by getting all 3 Triforce pieces) created them with his enhanced Magic. Which is why they ONLY appear in the Downfall Timeline. 3. Chuchu's appear in the Minish Cap(unified timeline before OoT) and the Lizalfos appeared when during young Link's time of OoT(not child timeline since Zelda reverse time to before they even met) so yeah Lizalfos existed prior to the events of OoT so yeah they also can exist. Bokoblins existed in Skyward Sword as well(unified timeline). All stated within the official Zelda Encyclopedia with in game photos of the enemies themselves. 4. Location names are considered easter eggs that only Zelda fans would know which is why we don't use them in Timeline placement discussions. 5. Arbiters ground was created prior to Ocarina of Time because that was the time the Triforce was still full and the people the Twilee descended from tried to steal it. Remember the Triforce was split(Adult and Child) or in the hands of Ganon(Downfall Timeline) at the end of Ocarina of Time's multiple ending so that is another notion debunked(if it existed before Ocarina of Time it exists in all 3 splits). 6. The fact that you mention that certain areas appeared in the UNIFIED TIMELINE should tell you that those places existed in all 3 timeline splits. You are not helping your case dude. 7. Again naming of bridges and location are consider Easter Eggs. Stick to the story elements dude. 8. Good to see you remember. Also the fact that the Mirror of Twilight was completed destroyed by Midna herself at the end of TP. 9. The fact that the Temple of Time still stands in Breath of the Wild also negate it the game being part of the Adult and Child Timelines(the adult because a new Hyrule Castle was built over it in Wind Waker and in TP the temple was In complete ruins). 10. Impa existed all the way til the end of the Downfall Timeline and with her that means the Sheikah as well. Sad can't be said about the Child Timeline(since only Impaz remained and we never see the Sheikah in other games of that branch). 11. The castle is also considered to be mere design by the devs and not story related(you can't find any info on how the castle was built in game, trust me I searched). 12. Other than Daruk the other statues can be considered Easter Egg since they don't make a mention of them other then calling them "Heroes". So yeah not part of the story element(only Daruk). 13. Landmark designs and placement is always up to the devs themselves to keep things fresh. Which is why you should not use this as confirmation at all. Again try focusing on the story elements at this point you're almost halfway into the video. 14. The Deku Tree also appears in the Downfall Timeline as the DT events of OoT are similar to AT until the final battle with Ganondorf and Link either won(AT) or lost(DT). Kokiri's are spirits of the Woods hence they can alter their forms over time(which ironically enough is explained in the Wind Waker, dude go play that game again sheesh). 15. The design of Koroks where a design choice and not something the STORY NARRATIVE explains to you. Basically there is no reason why in BoTW the Koroks look the way they do. Koroks can exist in all timelines since Kokiri's can change their forms overtime as it was explained in the Wind Waker(heck with Ganon coming into being at the bad ending of OoT the Kokiri would have reasons to change their forms). 16. The head is made by Technology of the Yiga clan and they like the Sheikah knows that Ganon used to be a Gerudo(just like Urbosa herself also knows this fact which brings shame to her as we see). Dark Beast Ganon's naming is just the devs call back for the fans that remember the game that came out before(TP HD). The people there(Zelda) doesn't refer to him as such. Only refer to him and Ganon. 17. Just because it stated "It is said" is usually means these events "happened from a certain point of view". The tablet doesn't state it was the Hero who helped awaken Ruto as a Sage nor mentions if she was victorious against the Evil Man(Ganondorf). That is why you can't place BotW in the child timeline because Ruto never awoke as a Sage and the Ancient Sages from before OoT still existed from before the events of OoT to the TP. 18. Revali called the whole "Ceremony" a whole lot of NONESENSE. The story element of that scene isn't what Zelda says but what URBOSA states. 19. You also forget that one other outfit exist that you can get without the use of an Amiibo. It's called the Dark Tunic(which makes you look like Dark Link from OoT). So far you making no sense. No one in their right minds would believe that after HYRULE was FULLY DESTROYED in the Wind Waker(as that was the King's wish) that BotW could take place in that Hyrule. 20. In Zelda 2, Hyrule was already beginning to see an era of prosperity with technological/magical advances that created moving inanimate objects(anyone who actually PLAYED the game would know this as well). 21.It just means that the details of the events that played out were forgotten. Hence why when people here Link's name in each game they do not think much of it. 22. In the downfall Timeline there had been multiple attacks from Ganon. Wind Waker's threat was Ganondorf not Ganon. Same with Twilight Princess. I don't bring up Four Swords Adventures since that event can happen in the Downfall timeline as well because the Four Sword itself existed prior to OoT. 23. Fade into legend is that exact details are not known to all. But WE as fans know the events since WE PLAYED THE GAMES PRIOR TO THIS. This is what people don't seem to get. 24. Which is why you must use story elements that connect this game with one of the last games of each timeline. The only one story wise that connects the past and present is Zelda 2. 1. The full Triforce is in Zelda's hands. Only in Zelda 2 the full Triforce was in the hands of the Royal Family. 2. Zelda's naming was due to a tradition that once again only was stated in Zelda 2. 3. The multiple attacks of Ganon in the Downfall timeline was always a Royal Family vs King of Evil, you can play any of the games with it and you will see it be true. The problem with trying to "fix" it is that they made more of a mess of the timeline then anything possible. Which is why I proved with this post that the Downfall Timeline is the most logical and sound location of BotW if we go by the story elements ALONE(which is what ALL timeline theorists should concentrate on). This has been the debunking of the video "Breath of the Wild: Why the TIMELINE Placement Makes SENSE (Part 1)". I will be here next time to debunk Part 2. See you all next time.

Gold Liger Not to mention there's even more I found myself. The ceremony has more to it than the English version made clear. When the champions are chatting, Zelda continues talking and can be heard quite well in other languages. What she says completely contradicts with a Child line placement. I also found two things about Zelda 2. In English the bosses are called Guardians. In Japanese they're called Divine Guardians. They were created defenders commissioned by the royal family no less. The Champions in BotW have specific powers, ones that nicely line up with spells in Zelda 2. Jump(jump higher), Life(recover health), Shield(defense boost), and Thunder(clear screen of foes). Do these sound familiar? Perhaps these abilities were the spells taught by the sages of old and passed down

Ok this got me thinking about a lot of things… 1: Placement in the Child timeline makes the Most sense, especially if we consider FSA to actually take place in a different spot. 2: What if everything is wrong? I recall someone at Nintendo stating that BotW takes place “sometime after OoT”. Obviously that can mean anywhere. But what if this means that it changes up the placement of the split, ever so slightly? I’m talking this: After OoT, the split happens into Child and Adult. Then after Twilight Princess, a timeline split occurs with the events prior to BotW! What I mean, is that the Downfall Timeline, where Ganon WINS, isn’t what we originally thought. Instead, it’s about the outcome of the events prior to BotW. And in the timeline where Link DOESN’T fall to the Calamity, we have Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. But where he Does fall, we have BotW, and then likely Tears of the Kingdom and then the rest of the Downfall timeline. This all depends on how exactly Tears of the Kingdom even handles stuff. And it’s more likely that BotW does still take place at the end of any one timeline anyway. I just thought it was an interesting possibility where the Downfall timeline actually occurs Because of the events prior to BotW.

about the adult timeline, i read in the zelda encyclopedia that wishes made by the triforce last until the one who makes the wish dies (probably depending on the nature of the wish itself) not really sure how it would work since the king in wind waker was already sort of a ghost, but in theory hyrule could have returned after a certain period of time.

When I first watched this I thought it was a load of crap, but after watching your video on the Leviathans and their secret message I realized that it all makes sense. The game was created to fit into all 3 time lines because you can do most of the things in the game in any order you choose. In one time line Link could take his time getting his memories back then go to the divine beasts and then go fight Ganon. In another time line Link could go straight for the divine beasts and gear up then go fight Ganon. In the final time line Link could pull a Leroy Jenkins and run straight for Ganon without even bothering with the divine beasts.

I believe the fact that Ganondorf's body shows up on the trailer for the sequel, with a stab mark in his chest, makes it hard to not be the child timeline. The visual identity is very strong too. All the games from the 3 timelines are similar graphically speaking. Breath of the wild is crearly similar to Twilight Princess design

I've always been a firm believer in the 'Literal Legend' theory for the entire series, and that's only evolved thanks to Breath of the Wild. Everything from Skyward Sword to Ocarina of Time happened at least relatively similar to what we played (maybe a bit of exaggeration here and there, but mostly true), but what happened after that is completely unknown. For all we know, NONE of the games could have actually happened the way they were portrayed, and we could just have been playing embellished stories passed down in the Hyrule of BotW. Stories that parents tell their kids before bed, or to inspire people to go out and do good. And honestly, I find that quite fun.
