Thank you for your idea about the solar plexo. Makes the same function as ribs to expand allowing legato in full voice, but is much easier to think about. Great!

I just found your channel on KZfaq, and thats amazing. Because it is simple. Congratulations !!! One question: I learned to breath expanding the ribs and watching this video I tried to expand the belly as you taught, but mine did not expanded so much as the ribs. Is it ok or I should keep trying in order to reach better breathing results ? Thanks a lot

I would recommend you to try and get a bit more movement lower down and less movement higher up. We need as much air as possible without disturbing the throat. Try breathing without any sound and without any movement of the throat. You will find that the only way to achieve this is by keeping the hard ribcage still and allowing the abdomen to expand.

Hi there, many thanks for the lesson! I'm just curious- this seems to fly in the face of so much that i've been taught, about 'allowing the ribs to expand'. And how that, to some extent, requires a stable core and pelvic floor. And that allowing the belly to go out can compromise posture, etc. Do you have anything to say about that, or am i maybe misreading your approach?? Cheers, Bobbie

The belly only goes out when taking a breath. As soon as the breath is in then the belly returns to a normal position while the solar plexus and back expand in order to simulate a breathing in position. The air needs to flow in a steady stream in order to feed the voice but not come rushing out all at once. The breathing can only develop in coordination with the exercises for strengthening the registers which I demonstrate on my other videos. I am currently working on a book which will include video examples and will explain everything about the process of register development which was used in the nineteenth and early twentieth century but has pretty much died out now. Thanks for your comment!
