@@milanavujicic6854 Not true. Tiafoe ended with 39 winners to 30 unforced. For a 5 set match, that only 6 unforced per set! He did 10, 6, 4, 4 and 6. So he played at a great level. But he ran out of gas in the 5th. It is hard to maintain that intensity over 5 sets. It is just that Carlos started serving much better!

It rare for a young player of 21 years old to dig deep like Carlos ( so many Unforced errors in fourth set before tie break) Then in tie break, he win 5 point in a row with winners and forced Tiafoe to make errors. Win the tie break then fifth set with 6-2. But again HE IS three times GS winners.

Ugly win by Carlos. Today he was really off for 80% of the match...worst I have seen him play in a long time, but congrats to Tiafoe for standing up and upping his level for this match. Carlos is getting to a point similar to Novak and Rafa, just being clutch in the moments needed and upping the game the longer it gets, even if they are not having a good day on court. This is happening more and more to Carlos, which is great...if he gets his concentration at 100% for most of the matches and the duration of them, there will be only a slim chance of beating him.

yes, but his tennis has to improve and it will. not just stroke specifics, but also overall quality and i am sure he will. he is pacing himself, but also gave a lot of points away today. its a process though

What sets the tier 1 players from tier 2 is their mindset. They will themselves to win, no matter how dire the situation looks. They're not in tier 1 for nothing! (7/5/24)
