8 жыл бұрынFrom July 1997, Glen Campbell sings the Jerry Reed-penned Johnny Cash hit "A Thing Called Love", and talks with host Gary Chapman about quitting smoking & drinking, doing "True Grit" with John Wayne, and doing the Goodtime Hour; Gary pulls out his copy of Glen's 1965 album "The Big Bad Rock Guitar of Glen Campbell", then shows a clip of what is likely the first music video ever made, Glen's 1967 promo film for "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", produced by Gene Weed, who is shown off camera in the studio (he was executive producer of the show); Gene was also the host of the 1960's syndicated music show "Shivaree", which Glen made several appearances on.

All I can say is,WOW, just WOW. Gary Chapman,more than anyone, did the best job making Glen feel right at home.

Always loved Glen Campbell, great singer, great guitarist, country singer, just a real great guy. Along with Elvis and Jerry Reed. His family must be really upset to lose such a beautiful person, rest in peace Mr. Campbell, love you man.

Being modest, Glen says he cleaned it up in his early working days, he was a trash collector. Funny man, with a perfect pitch in all he does. I'll always be a Campbell Kid....May God Continue to Bless Glen and his family.

I love how Campbell adds the maj7th chord in this song… he used it in several of his songs which sets him apart from lots of artists…

All people do is compare peoples performances to others.. is it really that hard to just enjoy music? I enjoyed it.. whether it’s the best or not.. it was enjoyable.

Jerry Reed is the only one can sing this. Really. I love Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Glen Campbell, but none of them can sing this or play the breaks as good as Jerry.

That's because there was only one Jerry Reed he was the best ever in my opinion, Although Glen Campbell was a truly awesome player himself and I like the way Glen played this song he did his interpretation of it and it was great but I agree except for Chet Atkins I think Jerry was virtually unmatched on guitar in any genre of music that includes rock metal or country and blues he could have played in any style at a very high level and his vocal abilities were pretty great too.

Actually, this was a Jimmy Dean song. My parents had the 45 in the sixties.

written by Jerry Reed and published in 1968, sung by many famous singers after that including Glen Campbell, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jimmy Dean.

shelfstretcher Jimmy Dean did record this song. Jerry Reed wrote the song and recorded it also.
