Made a heavily planted tank with a few of these and woke up one day to see babies swimming all around 😂

From my understanding they’re not hybrids. They’re Honduran Red Points (close cousins to Convicts) that have been line bred for the short body mutation. Their colors and temperament are on par with H.R.P.’s. I just picked up four small ones today. All around 1”. Awesome fish with a lot of personality. Thanks for the videos!

Love these videos i have 3 pairs 2 polar and 1 platnum pair but not had no luck breeding yet i have serperated a pair in to a 20 galon on their own so fingers crossed. I prefer your old scape was wondeful

My female have yellow in there tails. Like the males with the red.

Thanks for your video it's very helpful...I'm wondering what you do with hundreds of fry every few months.....I love convicts but they also have too many babies ...wish they would breed little parrot fish that don't breed we love the blood red parrot but they get so big

Thank you I appreciate that! I personally keep them with Clown Loaches which eat most of the fry. I saved a handful from each of the first few batches but have slowed down on raising them in a separate tank to prevent having too many.

I got lucky with 2 bought as babys they grew pretty quick. I had them in a 45gallon with some tetras, i think they were like dither fish for the blue parrots, anyway they found a cave and had lots of babies, both protecting them, i then removed the babies and put in their own tank, they did not make it, next time i was going to leave em in the tank with the parents, but the male has seemed to loose interest in the female, he did get stuck in a decoration. But was rescued and all seemed well but he does not go near any caves in the tank, the female seems eager to go at it again but he seems to have lost his yearn to reproduce, i dont think its normal, but he swims and eats ect, any advice its been 3 months since the babies are gone, was hoping for some more babies.

What are good/hardy live plants to get include in my polar parrot tank? I have blues and platinums.

My number one recommendation would be Anubius. There are small and medium sized varieties. If they dig up the plant it won't hurt the roots (usually). I've had no trouble with Swords plants either. In my experience they don't both plants too much so most should work

How can you tell , which ones are females and male I have the orange parrot and I can’t tell which ones are females and males and I’ve had them for seven years and they’re in a big tank

Not in my experience. Mine have not bothered plants at all but some may dig them up. Overall I think they are a pretty safe cichlid to keep plants with

My polar parrots had babies 2 months ago and I've kept the babies in the same tank with them just fine. For some reason the parents keep laying eggs back to back every week or so and every time the eggs don't hatch and the parents get really stressed out and I'm not sure why, any ideas?

Why does the male eat its own babies? I had to remove them both cause the female was defending the babies and lots of fights were breaking out.

Hi! Why is my polar blue parrot chasing the other one for no reason!? Thy are young ones and I hv 2! Idk thr gender but thy look kinda diff

I had this happen with mine. They ended up both being males. They became more peaceful as they got only. The reason is most likely to establish dominance. To help you can have a heavily decorated/planted tank to allow more hiding spaces and line of sight breaks

Do you know from your experience if the fry eat thier first meals off the parents slime coat like angelfish and discus do? Thanks for your great and informative video.

@@thomasnaturale6548 Yes I believe they do. I had trouble feeding babies initially until a week out and they lived fine so I am assuming that is how they got nutrition
