Meet Mozzarella, Camembert, Cheddar, Halloumi and Gorgonzola - the new arrivals at Folly Farm's Penguin Coast!
Breeding season is well and truly back for the Humboldt penguins - the first penguin chicks to hatch at the zoo since 2021.
Our wonderful keepers were in the position to start breeding this vulnerable species again as part of the European Breeding Programme, through our membership of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA).
The chicks are already between 4-6 weeks old and being looked after by their parents who take it turns in guarding the nest. Once they leave the nest boxes, they will be taken to the Penguin Nursery where they can learn to swim and feed whole fish with the help of our experienced keepers, before venturing out to the main pool to join the rest of the colony!
