The most memorable moment of the entire show for me not only for the brilliance of the acting and writing. The night that episode aired in Australia, in the last commercial break of the episode, a breaking news alert announced that a plane had flown into the world trade centre and there would be more information to come after the show.

The West Wing repeats aired at like 9am on Bravo. My husband and I would have our morning coffee while we watched 2 episodes a day. It was the best time my Honey and I shared. He was a huge Democrat who had met JFK when he was running for office in 1959, and he knew all these terrific tales of politics spanning Decades. My husband is gone, but I still have The West Wing to remember him by.

As a person living with multiple sclerosis, I found Martin Sheen's portrayal and more importantly Aaron Sorkin's writing with regards to multiple sclerosis to be very inspirational. After all, if Jed Bartlet can be the leader of the free world, while battling multiple sclerosis, I can certainly get through my own days with multiple sclerosis. Often times I go back and watch the episodes that specifically dealt with President Bartlett's battle with multiple sclerosis. I felt the trip to China was more realistically portrayed than much of what I had seen with regards to someone battling a chronic progressive disease, and what an exhausting day like that would look like, the toll working that long a day takes on one's body can be brutal! I also thoroughly related to his frustration when he tries to stand at the sink and do something as simple as brushing his teeth but he ends up falling. I have been there many times. This program was very empowering to me, and still is.
@johnnotrealname8168

As much as I am overjoyed you can live with it well, the show's portrayal makes no sense. If a Republican researched the disease properly then they could show that he cannot keep up with the details and does not have the stamina. That is an election killer.

Hello Ruth - hope you are doing well. I was thrilled to see the MS story line. To me, it meant more people would be exposed to/learn about/interested in MS and I hoped that would mean more donations and research. I have been participating in MS Challenge Walks and raising funds for the MS Society for 21 years. When I started participating in the MS events, there were 3 DMTs (disease modifying therapies). Today, there are over 20. I was so excited for the exposure for MS. Wishing you well 🧡

the episode where he calls the Butterball turkey hotline is hilarious. He plays it so well. He's such a bad liar. He's trying to make up a fake name, and a fake job, and a fake situation. Martin Sheen is giving a wonderful interview here. I wish he’d talked about the episode that I find on KZfaq every Christmas…. First season…. Gloria in exchelsis? I think was the name. Anyone who’s watching this remembers…. Toby arranging the service for a forgotten veteran…. I’m a veteran, and have been to The Wall to honor those I knew and though I’m not particularly religious or anything…. I still weep every time I watch…. Mrs Landingham, who misses her boys, the children’s choir….

I am Brazilian, and we have just got cable TV at our home, when I saw my pre-teenage boys addicted to a TV show, that I thought it was quite complex for them to understand - in English with English subtitles - but that was it. I immediately got addicted too, it was a politics and history class for me, I was interested in how the US Government works, the inside of the White House, the characters in the Bartlet administration were my heroes. Later on we bought all the DVDs, I have them to this days, I can play them in my laptop with an external drive, and from time to time I watch some episodes. Good time were those! I was reading some of the other comments of people who have seen it 3 or 4 times and was starting to think I was a bit of an anomaly. I've watched it, start to finish, at least twice a year, sometimes 3 or 4, since it ended. So in 17 years I've watched it all in excess of 40 times. Thank goodness DVDs don't wear the way VHS used to! So it is nice to know I'm not alone! And if you ever play 'connect the actors' or 'connect the films' (think Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon), a good knowledge of the West Wing and it's myriad of guest actors that went on to be leads in their own series, such as Mark Harmon or Mary Louise Parker will give you one hell of an advantage.

My girls gave me the entire boxed DVD set of the West Wing. I can't tell you how many times those DVDs have been played. I don't have to be staring at the TV to see the scene and follow the story and conversations. The BEST show of all time.

Being a naturalized American I found this series exemplified why I became an American - it is a country I love - if only America now espoused the sentiments exhibited by WW what a country it would be...

I consider The West Wing in the top three best TV dramaz to come out of the USA, the script is brilliant as are the ensemble of great actors who bring the words to life. A series which not only keeps you hooked but you learn a lot on how American politics work. Or perhaps considering more recent years I should say it shows how American politics is supposed to work.

What a humble and sweet man. He truly believes it was the Oval Office, and an interest in how it functions, that made people want more of the president. Literally everyone else in the world knows it was Martin himself that did that. He had us all from, "I am the lord thy god and you shall have no other gods before me."

Hang on...when Martin is discussing the drunken ambassador, either he is confusing two episodes, or the podcast's editing skipped over something. Lawrence Pressman played a US Ambassador who was having an affair with the daughter of the PM of the nation he was ambassador to, and Bartlet did fire him in a humorous way. The drunken ambassador was from Ukraine or another eastern European country and they did find a way for him to bump into Bartlet "by accident" so he could say that he met the President. Two separate episodes. That said, it's a great interview with one of the team that made, I think, the best television series in the history of TV. We will forever be in the debt of that team and it's chief storytelling officer, Aaron Sorkin. I still watch it regularly, when I need to feel better about our current political, ah, trials and want to be reminded of how it could be.

This was a series where you truly cared about all of the characters. None were perfect, they each had their flaws, but you loved them nonetheless. I am re-watching the series now and am at the point in season 6 just before the passing of John Spencer. What a loss.

Our family absolutely loves this programme. Our eldest is word perfect on all episodes and can give the title based on a single conversation. When touring Warner bros studios she pointed out to the guide which had been Josh’s building from the steps outside, he had no idea😂
