The care and love we show for our hounds are some of the most important things about our life style . Most that run hounds do it just for the love of the hounds. There is something special about the way a hound would rather hunt and trail then do most anything. Our hounds are our family and we live and breath hunting them. Most people who have never been able to hunt behind a pack of hounds don't understand the commitment and pride we take in these wonderful dogs. If you have never hunted with hounds or have never had the opportunity join me for a hunt. Sit back in your chair and watch. There won't be much killing going on. Just exposure to the wind, sun, rain and the adventure of riding a mule or horse through some of the roughest most beautiful country around. We won't always be hunting but we will always be looking for adventure. Pack trips and lion and bear hunting and maybe some other stuff thrown in from gear to books to locations I hope to share as much as I can in the future. Sometimes I do really feel like I was born 100 years too late .. but I'm going to do all I can in this day and age...
But when we take off to go on a hunt you can rest assured that it's

You can see what it's really like to trail and hunt Mountain Lions in the Desert Southwest on Mules or Horses. You will see the hardships, the miles and the adventure involved in this style of hunting. You will see the love and care we have for our hounds. The training and care provided for our dogs as we provide them with the opportunity to do what they were bred to do. Training and care for our mules and hounds as we progress in our education of this sport. Come along the journey with me as I learn and you can learn right along with me on this quest I have to become a true dry ground lion hunter.

The ones I've watched so far show you put in a lot of work in order to get a good "Shot", the videos, editing and content reflect your dedication and work. To hunt is hard, to hunt solo even harder while making a quality video and having the hounds to tend to. "It's all about the hounds" That's my favorite saying too, that's how i got here. Are these all walkers or walker mixes?. I'm in the southeast and I never see these dogs. We have plotts which I love! Redbones, black and tans, and walkers but they are traditional tri colored walkers. I've Googled and asked but I always come up with big game hounds or someone calls them leopard dogs? Which I maybe wrong but I don't call that a leopard hound
@BrettVaughnB100

@BrettVaughnB100
@BrettVaughnB100 5 жыл бұрын
When they are cold trailing they can get a bloody tail from whipping it back and forth "Monkey Tail" . and easier to deal with getting them in and out of the box.. the last 2 litters of pups I've had I didn't dock so we will see how it works .. What did you hunt with you hounds and where? Thanks!

Probably a little bit of everything .. they all are just crossed up hounds bred for dryground lion hunting. Most of them have been bred best to best for many years to be able to trail a lion in this area down here.. when you do the research on them they most all go back to a a view old time hunters and ranchers in the area. Thanks for watching !

@BrettVaughnB100
@BrettVaughnB100 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you.. I dock them mainly because we do a lot of cold trailing and when they are cold trailing, and that is what we do the most of, they wipp their tails and if they are in the brush they can get a bloody tail or what we call "monkey tail" .. and as far as what they have in them .. no telling they have been crossed up for years just based on performance ..Thanks for watching

When they are cold trailing a lot in the brush they whip there tail and it can get bloody "monkey tail" also I like that it keeps it out of the way when in the box or anywhere really.. that being said I have heard that the guys hunting Jaguars won't take a hound with a short tail.. I believe they say it helps them know what is behind them so they can get away from a charging Jaguar .. not sure just what I heard .. Thanks for watching!

CBVTV Because I live in Washington bud. They outlawed it. First Bear, and there was such a outcry in rural NE Washington, because kids and livestock were getting whacked by Cougar. They recanted and ran a 5 year extension just on Cougar that was a draw. That ended about ten years ago. I gave my dogs to a couple of Nez Perce kids on the Rez across the river from my ranch and they did great with them. In fact my Redbone bitch outstruck every dog he had on the strike platform. It just sucks because I had just gotten into it and raised and trained my dogs when everything started going south. Now they are trying to pass more gun control and Idaho is looking better and better. Too bad I just cant pick the ranch up and move it 40 miles to the east.
