Manage Temperature Settings

Pressure Controlled

Coffee Weight Output
Ordinary coffee capsule brewers hardly allow you to control the strength of your coffee. The Morning Coffee Pod Machine changes that by letting you modify the weight of the water that will be used for brewing your capsule coffee. I managed to test the Morning Machine at the London Coffee Festival this year. I had a Decaf from them and it was fine. Nothing too special about it. I see this alternative to the Original Nespresso machines. The mid range ones cost about the same price as this. I see this machine useful for my parents as they get older and more ill with dementia like symptoms. You don’t want your parents going around playing with hot water in an Aeropress or touching hot things with the real risks of burns and scalds needing an ambulance. It allows them to have the freedom to be nerdy about coffee but with a safety net. This is a safer alternative to brewing coffee and tea and also having hot water too. No risk of a kettle spilling everywhere. Just a mug of hot water only to worry about.

I’d been interested in this for a while and finally got to try an espresso (from the standard profile you mentioned) at the London Coffee Festival a couple of weeks ago and have to say, I was completely underwhelmed and disappointed. In part I think this was down to the somewhat disinterested demonstration from the young lady on their stand and in probably a larger part down to having tried a couple of other espressos on other stands, pulled on LMLMs from memory. Your review is very fair and certainly accords with my experience, where I found the coffee lacking in body and any real complexity - in other words, Nespresso. I’m not sure any fan of espresso would find this anything other than frustrating, despite the apparent control on offer, but perhaps in an office environment or hotel room it would be a nice addition, or perhaps in a waiting room where a member of staff can ask your preference…. Before serving you a Nespresso anyway!. 😄

Almost every trader at the London Coffee Festival seemed so tried and exhausted by midday on each of the 4 days. I don’t blame them. The crowds was a lot more than the 2021. The same people from last year were quite overwhelmed and exhausted by the looks of things. It’s a complete 180 from themselves last year. I did try the Morning Machine’s decaf and it wasn’t bad. It was certainly one of the better tasting decafs I’ve had but I can’t give you a definitive answer as I’ve burnt my tongue over the 4 days. This is machine is certainly an idiot’s guide to specialty coffee without the fuss. I see this as making supermarket capsule coffee taste better for about the same price as some of the new Nespresso original machines.

I bought the Gaggia Classic Pro and a grinder from you guys two years ago. I loved it, but it became more of a hobby than a practical machine for two or three coffees on the weekend. I have just sold it - in preparation to buh the Morning Coffee machine. I backed the Morning Dream on Kickstarter and it arrives next month. I am just about to buy the Morning Coffee from you guys before the milk frother arrives. I just watched your video and I know the machine won’t deliver what the Gaggia did, but I am hoping that the convenience combined with the potential quality will make it an OK choice. But one specific question. If I usually drink a two shot flat white at a coffee shop, would be sensible to use two pods for my home coffee- or just accept that a pod is one shot experience and adapt.

Hey Brian, thanks so much 👌 you’ve brought up a great point about chasing that perfect coffee at home - and convenience will usually undermine quality somewhere in the process. To answer your question, I would say Two Pods, with adjusted volume to each, (a lower yield) would match a good double shot Coffee from a cafe.

Did you run in to any difficulties using the steel refillable capsules with the machine? I have used the refillable capsules with a basic nespresso brand machine, it worked better with the 37mm aluminium foil stickers than the.steel lid.

The morning coffee machine is retailing, in the UK, for £350. Do you consider this be a reasonable price? Also, I have the Nespresso virtuo machine. Is the morning coffee machine ‘an upgrade’? I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

At the end of the day, the Morning COffee Pod machine is at the mercy of whatever PODS you are purchasing to brew in it. If it's straight-up Nespresso pods - stick to the virtuo machine. If you have 3rd Wave Coffee roasters you have access to, that sell great coffee, in pods, then this machine is capable of highlighting the unique flavours and differences in each. It's the same price here. If you were going to go out and buy an espresso machine with grinder, and attempt some level of quality and consistency - you'd spend double that - plus time and effort. You can equally spend that much time and effort - at half the cost and be using the good quality pods to brew great coffee too.

so i just ordered the morning machine, and in my country nespresso citiz is cheaper than this and nespresso pixie is like half the price. Do you think its a good decision, i really don't have time and space to dial in a proper espresso every morning. How does these compare to the lavazza machines?

You shouldn't need to worry too much about dialling in with these machines I you wish not to do that. It will still brew like any other machine - though has all the capabilities of being better than that. So you have a machine that's top of the line for its class - and I don't think you'll regret it.

I think I’m spoiled, my office has a Eureka Atom Specialty 65 (dialed in for our beans) and an ECM Technika V espresso machine haha. While for a pod machine this is decent, I’d be sad if I had to move to it at work!

What amazes me. All pod machines seem to have the pod inserted on its side. This should produce an uneven puck. If you can even call it that. Resulting in channeling and bad results. If it is similar to Nespresso the crema is primarily air and not carbon dioxide. Better to buy an espresso machine.

I figured they’re all pressurised anyways so whether the bed is even isn’t something they consider the most
