🚨IMPORTANT🚨 Hey folks. Have to apologize since I made a blunder here. While a member state can theoretically use his seat in the commission to "prevent laws" that they view as detrimental to them, that job really lies more with the Council since the commission is supposed to act in the common european interest. In addition to that, laws are send to national parliaments and they can reject them aswell, if they think it violates the principle of subsidiarity. This video explains it pretty good: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bqlgftRoztWzoJ8.html

A friend of mine is a dietiican that works in oncology, she has a literal alphabet soup after her name, many people would think that is successful, she earns less than my cousin. Was ravaged by Apartheid for half a century. Any African country? LOL NOPE! Middle East? EVEN BIGGER NOPE! USA? That gained independence before the industrial revolution so whatever they achieved they did so on their own. British colonies were extractive economies ie they were designed only to send wealth outside the country and back to Britain not circulate it within the nation. Most of these nations also had their borders drawn without any consideration about cultural or ethnic backgrounds leading to civil wars and conflict. NOTHING GOOD CAME FROM COLONIALISM. Individual parliamentarians often find or make a little niche for themselves. No single individual in a national or the EU parliament knows it's entire body of law. Parliamentarians are usually pretty chatty about their field. If you find the trains guy, they're most likely going to be happy to tell you why their ideas about trains are the best, and do so in greater detail than their party leader could ever do. What Farage decides to attend and speak about shows what he works on.

Also, nobody cared about the use of drugs in America until advisors of the Nixon Administration began to scapegoat anti-war activists and the black community with drugs, and attempts at policing of said drug offenses were only done in minority neighborhoods and on minority people, a lot and the Reagan Administration began a crackdown on those communities while the same Reagan Administration funded death squads in Latin America that also helped drug cartels ship their drugs onto American shores.

You can tell it's for American audiences as college is called university in the UK and college is a different thing.
@Falcrist
@Falcrist 5 жыл бұрын
In the US "college" is used to talk about an institution that only grants undergraduate degrees. A university is an institution that grants both undergraduate and graduate degrees. In the UK, college is preparatory, while universities grant degrees. In both instances, divisions of the university may be called "college of [x]", or something similar.
@burke615
@burke615 5 жыл бұрын
@@Falcrist Firstly, that may once have been the technical difference in the US, but it is not 100% the case today. For instance, Boston College confers graduate degrees. Indeed, the first two colleges I thought of, BC and Bard College, both have graduate degree programs. That aside, if we look at just the colloquial usages, I think it is correct to say that the US uses "college" where the UK uses "university" (or just "uni.") For instance, this conversation might take place in the US: Ann: Barbara, are you going to college this year? Barbara: I sure am, and I'm really looking forward to it! A: What college are you going to? B: Boston University. In the UK, the word "college" in Ann's dialogue would be replaced with the word "university" even if the school to be attended were BC rather than BU.
@Falcrist
@Falcrist 5 жыл бұрын
@@burke615 Your colloquial usage is incorrect. BOTH university and college are used interchangeably. Outside of casual conversation, "college" refers to a school that only offers undergraduate degrees. "University" refers to a school that offers graduate degrees. Older universities may be named according to different rules... but that's also true in the UK, where colleges are supposed to be parts of larger institutions (universities)... except sometimes when they're not.

I'm not a socialist, more a liberal centre-ground voter, but boy do you make great videos. Rational arguments based on facts. The biggest problem with Brexit is a lot of the leave arguments have been based around simplistic soundbites. The reality of leaving the EU is far more complex, yet much harder to defend in the same way. It takes time, context and detail. And the failure here has absolutely been down to current politics in the UK. I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed (and concerned) by the British political system. My thoughts exactly. I feel deeply embarrassed by just how poorly educated so much of our political leadership really is. David Davis admitted that he didn't even understand how Article 50 worked, even though he'd been flogging it most of his political career. The issue, I personally feel, is that the Leave campaign made the EU a lightning rod for gripes that are really about London and the central government. Economic stagnation, the erosion of local council autonomy and so forth. Unfortunately of course, good old fashioned nationalist xenophobia seems to have played a role too.

They voted to remain - in the case of Scotland, by a greater margin than any region voted to leave. 3) We haven't left because not even the groups that voted to leave agree with each other on exactly what that means. We're stuck between the ones who fancy us having a functional economy afterwards and the gung-ho wrist-slitting morons who keep talking about "managed no deal", a concept analogous to pumping the brakes on the landing gear of a 747 as it slams into a cliff. @@Spunjji I said that Three Arrows was wrong to begin with the assumption that people voted to leave because of some vague idea of sovereignty, which was the thrust of the video he showed of Farage. People who voted to leave did so for many reasons, so, if Three Arrows wishes to portray himself as a speaker of the truth, he should have widened his sources. You are right to say that Scotland and N. Ireland voted to remain, however, this is not how a national referendum works, as you well know. A UK-wide referendum has to take each vote as equal to another and the majority of the people who voted in the UK voted to leave. The reasons for leaving are many, as are the reasons for remaining. However, the question on the ballot paper was to leave or to remain and people made their choice. We haven't left the EU because MPs from all parties and from both the leave and remain sides are pursuing their own political agendas, most of which have nothing to do with Brexit. It is not because they can't agree on what 'type' of Brexit we should have - most MPs are remainers, so they will never agree to any plan if it involves leaving the EU. In addition, the Labour Party seeks only one outcome - that of a General Election - and will do everything it can to achieve that goal. In short, all sides are playing games with the future of this country. There is a tendency to mock the people who voted to leave, as if they are not intelligent enough or wealthy enough, or young enough, to understand what they voted for. This is wrong and plays into the hands of the politicians who seek to manipulate the result of the referendum. We cannot live in a country that picks and chooses its democratic processes and outcomes. If we do so, no election results in the future will be considered valid - after all, which political party ever upheld the promises it made in its election manifesto? We are ALWAYS lied to, but sometimes we have to bite the bullet and accept that, in spite of its faults, our system is the only one we have.
@MrCorrba
@MrCorrba 5 жыл бұрын
17.4 million out of 46.5 million is 37.4%. There is no majority. If the data from the referendum is taken as a statistical figure (as it should be in the case of a non-binding, advisory) then the only thing it tells you is that the electorate it completely divided on the matter. My apologise to my European friends but the parliament is as divided as the people and the delay is it’s almost inevitable result.
@Spunjji
@Spunjji 5 жыл бұрын
@@whynot5443 No, you didn't say that. The comment I responded to doesn't contain those words, or indeed that argument in some other form. Your following post is one hell of a gish gallop - there is no reasonable way I can respond to every point you made, which has allowed you to hide a bunch of defective arguments, generalisations and outright falsehoods. Let's stick to the facts: we had an *advisory* referendum during which the Leave campaign committed several acts of election fraud to finance its disinformation. Leave won, and the government immediately insisted that the referendum be binding without presenting any logical argument why that should be the case. The people negotiating Brexit are representatives of the Leave campaign and yet they have created a plan so comprehensively terrible that it cannot get even a majority of Leave supporters behind it, let alone the rest of the country. Three Arrows is at no point condescending to Leave voters, but he does point out contradictions in the claims of its most vocal proponents. If that makes you feel attacked, you would be better off examining why than accusing everyone else of being mean to you.
