I had the honour of meeting Brian at the theatre once. During the interval, he was sat there on his own, everyone in the bar just staring at him. I plucked up the courage... “Excuse me Mr Blessed, can I talk to y-“ “OF COURSE YOU CAN! SIT DOWN!” Suffice to say everyone else wandered over, and he sat there holding court. I don’t think I asked him one question, he just monologued for 15 minutes. Absolute legend, and gentleman.

That basically became "The Brian Blessed Show" for one glorious episode 😂😂😂

It takes a special kind of talent to take the words "pompous", "loud", "crude" and "boorish" and turn them into lovable qualities.

No presenter I believe has ever come close to the shear entertainment of him hosting the show. All these years on it’s still as funny as the night I first saw this on the tv!

I gained a lot of respect for that MP during the ‘poofs’ bit at the end there. As far as i can work out, he’s one of the only politicians who not only can take a joke, but also dish it out. Such as how he didn’t get upset about it, he just fired back.

A lifetime in the performing arts, animal charity work, space advocacy, exploring, duties for the UK state and a great exponent of the noble art of cheering us all up. An extraordinary life force and feature of British life for almost six decades.

A bit of trivia here- Brian once said in an interview that he takes his weights with him on trips and takes delight in when hotel staff offer to take his luggage for him. This in turn proved to be the inspiration for Neil Gaiman when creating _The Sandman_ character of Destruction, the "Prodigal" member of The Endless- A big imposing guy with a mischievous sense of humour.
