But the dominant religions of the day insist only they are right and everyone else is wrong If it were up to them even the Buddha might have been burned to death just as Giordano Bruno was, as Hypatia of Alexandria was beaten to death! Even today some Christians are against Yoga Imagine Indians being the Mayans - or the Buddhists as the Mayans - Yoga would not be known today, neither would Buddhism! yet these Communist/Dictator-style - "our way is the only way, you are either with us or else" - religions are the top religions of the day Doesn't say much about our intellect

@@ramaraksha01 true but we can learn from the mistakes of these strict religions by being open minded and embracing the good parts rather than becoming like them in a scientific way where we instantly dismiss these religions of their good attributes.

@@joshmorris6652 Does that work with other religions? Are you open to the good parts of other religions? Have you read the Gita, Buddhists thoughts? Gandhiji in his prayer meetings used to do that - he use to read not only from the Gita but also from the Koran, the Bible etc Hinduism have never had any problem with seeing the good in others But where are we in terms of numbers? Which ones are the top religions of the day? Those that preach hate and division Those that use threats if you are open to other ideas Giordano Bruno, Hypatia of Alexandria were brutally murdered because they were open to other ideas Have things changed much? In the TV show "Everybody loves Raymond" the elder son, the big guy, says he joined another faith & the family reacts with horror - "you are going to hell", "you have lost your mind", "the guy who introduced you to this cult is crazy!" Book of Genesis is FACT. Please find below scientific/cosmological/archaeological/historical proof & explanation behind the Book of Genesis - These are some of the best videos out there. Kindly share with any other apologists as well. The actual scientific explanation for the 7 days of creation is something like this; The universe is 7 days old at the point of creation( looking forward) and 13.8 billion years old (looking backwards at the point of creation). This is called space time dilation - the further you get from the point of creation - the older the age of the universe. Cross section of the universe is as per NASA WMAP diagram. map.gsfc.nasa.gov/media/060915/060915_CMB_Timeline600.jpg Gerald Schroeder PhD and Hugh Ross - Phd Astrophysicists have explained this further. a)Gerald Schroeder has even given the rough mathematical formula for the age of the universe. (and also the each day = x billion years long) (+/- factor of 10 error) geraldschroeder.com/wordpress/?page_id=53 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdCke9Spzd2yl58.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lbilfLl00p3Ufpc.html (diff between HughRoss & GeraldS is minimal. The differences - GS used Olam(modern Hebrew) vs yom ) b) Hugh Ross gives very detailed explanations on the frames of reference God is talking from i) Gen 1.1 - at the point of creation(1st day/2nd day/3rd day), ii) Gen 1.2 from the surface of the earth iii) Gen 1.3 - Let there be light - the atmosphere become transparent iv) Age of man decreased from 1000 years to 120 years - Hugh Ross explains in his video how the explosion of the supernova about 100k years ago ( monoserotis ??) and that the cosmic radiation from this caused genetic degradation. this is why the age of the patriarchs decreased from 1000 years (adam to noah/shem) to 120ish around abraham. This radiation was x light years away and would have hit earth around the time of noah. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNJ3idSGv9WcY6c.html - the 2 great lights (sun and moon) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/id1-rNN_2JbQh2g.html - testing genesis with science God created the universe in the divine Hebrew language. To sum it up its all great sounding theories, but thats all they are. We like to hear these scientists talk because it gives us the idea that we as humans understand exactly why we are here. Maybe to cope with inevitable death? Finding peace in scientists that do the thinking for us, so we don't have to think for ourselves? What if there was a creator, and this creator wants to give love and understanding, but we reject it by listening to these prophets? Maybe we should repend and listen to our heart, why do we have these morals, why do we know what is bad. Why do most humans just want to attract a partner and create a family, I mean in the core of what we want. You can argue career is important, and a lot of people think they want that, maybe through TV shows and celebs telling you that getting to where they are is the answer. To build a career, to make a name for yourself, for what? Where do you live for then? Money? Power? Ego? We know money does not create positive substance in the mind, fame doesn't either it seems, if you take a close look at them. Who is creating these celebs? And why? I would argue maybe its like the lottery, once a year some one wins it, thats enough motivation for a lot of people getting a ticket. Maybe it's the exact same thing with actors and fame, they are the lottery winners of fame and fortune, showing how it is possible for young people to pursuit these empty goals. Maybe this is one of the many parts that is destroying people, depression, suicide, it's the biggest killer ever, yet nobody talks about it; here, take a pill, created by scientists in a lab serving big pharma. End of bad spelled rant

@Enjoy and Travel The World! Christopher Langan, it's literally the first result. His score is well-documented and verified. He lives a reclusive life on a farm, and has theorized proofs about the existence of God. Anyhow, I think you're making quite a false assumption. The causation of the aforementioned trend is probably linked to an atheist's increased cognitive ability to be slightly more open-minded and defiant towards societal norms than the average population. The established beliefs of the majority tend to be the result of indoctrination and upbringing, and many of those who regard their religion as dogmatic truths tend to express less open-mindedness and contemplative ability. This is what offsets atheists from the average population, they (or their parents) renounced God and the tenants of religion and therefore show a greater propensity to defy established, unproven beliefs, thus greater intelligence. That, however, is a very superficial level of intellect. When you go into higher level academia, there is a lot more philosophical discussion about God on a cosmic level, not a bearded man in the sky. Most atheists who pride their intellect were only clever enough to disperse the latter myth, and cannot engage the other concept. Look at former or current communist states, their denizens were/are coerced to discard religious beliefs. How come the Czech Republic (almost entirely atheist) does not surpass the likes of Italy (fixated under dogmatic Catholicism still)? North Korea is almost entirely irreligious. This contradicts your claim, so it really comes down to the ability to swim against the tide and use one's intellect to deduce original ideas.

Book of Genesis is FACT. An entity that defies our current understanding of physics. Regularly comes with persona. I think that is largely broad enough to encapsulate what most gods are without specifics. In regards to that simple description of god I literally cant imagine or fathom that something of that nature exists. Unlike Dawkins I'm not anti theist. Religion is not useless, something doesn't have to be real for it to have value. For example as an atheist I still plan to have a church wedding. Even if I don't believe in a god doesn't mean i don't understand what a promise to an entity of that magnitude means and I personally find that idea quite attractive even if its just on a romantic scale.
@daan2604 жыл бұрын
@@evilgn0me "An entity that defies our current understanding of physics. Regularly comes with persona. I think that is largely broad enough to encapsulate what most gods are without specifics." I don't think that's a good definition of god and I don't think most people believe in a god like this (certainly not most intelligent people). If this is your definition, than of course you're an atheist... Why would god defy physics? I mean he is the creator of this world not an imaginary world. Why do you assume that a god has to be physical? A lot of people believe he created this physical realm, but they believe god himself is not a physical being. why would god have a persona and what do you mean by that? I mean believers always say that god can't be known and that he works in mysterious ways. I don't know if you've ever heard of emergence, but I'll explain anyway. It basically means how a bunch of simple things together can create very intelligent and complex systems. For example a human being or an ant colony. One ant is a relatively simple creature and just mindlessly does one simple job, but the entire ant colony works as a big intelligent system. It has a hive mind and we also have (and are) a hive mind like this. That's basically emergence; stupid things together make up intelligent things. I think you can swap the word god and the universe around without much of a believe change tbh. It just needs a bit of a change in perspective. We can look at ourselves as intelligent living creatures within a mostly dead world made out of matter. However if we humble ourselves and look what's actually going on, we realise that we're just part of something far greater, far more intelligent and more alive than the conscious part of our brain. I mean just look at nature and how all these complex systems work together so effortlessly. Look at psychedelics that can teleport you to another realm and tell me that's not god like. Maybe the universe is just gods body and god is the hive mind of it all. We are merely tiny conscious cells in his body and mind. Even if you don't agree with me on all of this, agree with me on the possibility that our universe might be a simulation. That could mean that our god is the scientist who created this simulation, right? I guess it depends on your definition of god though. That's how I look at it anyway.

Being a bloody atheist myself I had the expereince of participating in a meal with the orthodox christians. As one of them told me "the prayers before the meal makes it a meal - a deep spiritual connection amongst people. If you don't say the prayers you'll just fress - show food inside your stomach without any sense and meaning". So there I am standing next to a huge table, starring into ancient icons in the eastern corner of the room, in the direction where Jerusalem supposed to be, listening to the old monotone language recetative and prayer singing... me, a bloody atheist thinking about "stuff"... After the prayers finished I had one of the best meals i ever had in my entire life. Eventhough it wasn't something made out of exotic foods or even cooked professionaly... a simple ordinary meal with a lot of people sitting at the same table, sharing experiences, laughing, enjoying... THE best meal i ever had in my life. So if you're an atheist don't be stupid. Join a religious meal "for Christ sake" and enjoy! Don't let your arrogance kill your curiosity and life experience.

@@sybo59 You're right, because the two aren't even related. You're only considering half of the truth, and that's likely because it's comfortable to you. Reason and science deal with information and data, the material around us. Religion deals with faith, and the immaterial. Each therefore deal with different domains. Classically, we think of religions and how they made declarations of the material, most notably how the material came into existence. That was the fault of old men who had no tools other than religion to understand the world around them. It was an inevitable fault of humanity, creatures with knowledge of self but with very little understanding of their recognized universe, in its relatively early stages in what is hopefully the grand scheme that is our prolonged history. However, to make the statement from this that religion and reason/science are contrary to each other from this is therefore a false statement based on a false understanding of religion.

But I am perfectly happy to know that my wife, who died 5 years ago, is in my apartment all the time; in the next room, in the kitchen, standing behind me. And this serves me well, Once I became comfortable with her presence, I didn’t need to grieve anymore. I realized I’m still happily married. I’m a Christian and also a lover of science, and I’m so glad to see more and more people come to the realisation in recent years that science and religion/theism are not incompatible with each other. I think in particular the fact that many scientists are now taking the simulation theory very seriously is evidence of even the mainstream scientific community now genuinely considering the possibility of God. 15 years ago, the scientific community was widely seen as an almost inherently atheist community… not the case anymore! And more than anything, I think we need to keep our minds as wide open as we possibly can, never be shut off to opposing views, and always listen to them with respect and consideration. We’re all in this mind-bogglingly incomprehensible reality together! Peace and love ✌🏻
@b.g.586911 ай бұрын
The scientific community hasn't changed with respect to the possibility of god's existence. Even amongst explicitly outspoken atheist scientists most aren't actually completely dismissive of the possibility that something that might reasonably be considered god exists; they're typically just opposed to conceptions of god as an anthropomorphic being that writes books for humans. This is something most religious people don't understand. Even Dawkins, who for some reason has become seen as the prototypical militant atheist has actually said he's open to the possibility that something that could reasonably be considered a god might exist; he just doesn't think any of the anthropomorphic book writing gods of organized religion exist.

I'm not religious, but I've developed an appreciation for religious wisdom. I've learned treating religious texts literally is a very childish way of thinking. Religions are generally tried and true guidelines for interacting with the world. In many ways religious texts are code for a well lived life. The belief in God is an anthropomorphism of what is greater than ourselves, our families, our communities, our planet, our universe. Someone who worships God is someone who values the group and the natural world over thier own egos.

@holdenrobbins8524 жыл бұрын
. @@tiggersrevenge I'm more concerned by people that worship the state than people who worship God, as misguided as they may or may not be. There is good and bad with everything, the point is to not throw the baby out with the bathwater and dismiss all religious teachings.
@holdenrobbins8524 жыл бұрын
. @Tiger Tamer You may not realize that worship is what you give your will to, your time, your energy, your money. Consider the communists or the national socialists. When you pay taxes to kill people in other countries, you are worshiping their state. People who think more government coercion is the answer to every problem, may not realize it, but they are worshiping the state. Socialists generally worship the state over anything else. Their mindless groupthink and reverence for authorities to solve thier problems (giving thier will over to inevitably corrupt officials) is more dangerous than most common religions.

Tiger Tamer Sorry if I offended your socialist sensibilities. Anyone familiar with history will tell you socialism has killed more people than any other ideology... whether you view it as worshiping the state or not.

I could never get my head around relligion until I had a unexpected contact with psilocibine. I started reading the bible in a much profound way. Even the ideia of time and space and multiple dimensions I could visualize it in a religeous way. The sense of unity with humanity and with nature. I thought about the churches and all the religions as this imperfect way to represent this very profound ideia of unity and solidarity. The notion of ethics came to me in a very deep and touching way. There was some fear involved too. But it pushed me towards positive thoughts and the need to believe in a higher being.

It was regional flood & not global flood. The sea level rose about a min of 50+ feet and low lying places settlements like sundaland(asia), black sea, Mediterranean basin were swallowed up by the sea. Africa was minimally affected. Thats why you find wooly mammoths remains from Americas to Siberia frozen in ice and mud with partially digested food in its stomach. American megafauna was wiped out (camelops, lions, cheetahs) Mammoth bones in Mexico - buried under 30feet of mud www.geologyin.com/2019/12/over-800-mammoth-bones-discovered-in.html Thats why Africa has wider genetic diversity than rest of the world. @James Barker It's obvious we have a different understanding of the Bible. I can also tell a lot about you as you attack the virgin birth out of nowhere while simultaneously showing your misunderstanding of who authored the Bible (as opposed to writing as you said).
