Rory is criminally underrated and doesn't get mentioned enough as far as I'm concerned. He's right up there with all the greats -- Clapton, Beck, Page, Hendrix, etc. He had a unique voice on the guitar and was a nimble soloist, but sadly flew under pop music's radar I suppose. He also kicked ass on the saxophone too, which not too many people know.

I don't know about everyone else but for me Freddie Mercury was the most brilliant frontman in rock history. And there 'are' so many other front men to compare Freddie with. I truly envy ALL who got to see Freddie live - I mean I watch the footage and Freddie for me had that incalculable gift of 'connecting' with what were HUGE audiences. And I would also add, as Brian says here, as it has been documented so well, Freddie knew he was 'on a clock' and just told his bandmates to "give me material and I'll sing". Think about that - with effectively no real medical options- treatment available, Freddie 'could' have just passed away peacefully as he'd stopped taking medication. But he only wanted, in his dying days, to 'create' music. Amazing.
@njlauren
@njlauren 13 күн бұрын
Freddie's brilliance as a singer and front man was probably only outmatched by his musical vision. It was Freddie who kind of drove Queen to be different, without him they may have been a typical rock band ( not saying the band members weren't talented, they all were), from what ppl I know with insight ( ex music journalists ), he refused to just follow the AOR formula.

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to his son's wedding and was able to talk to Sammy a bit. His littlest son was with him in the crowd watching the newlyweds cut the cake, and the youngster was a little restless and happened to step back on my foot. Sammy noticed and apologized and said "he's drunk". This little kid was about 8 yrs. old! Really funny. I had also just a month or so before this talked to Brian. My sister and I caught him in front of his house in L.A. and he was SO gracious to stand there and talk to us for an hour! His first question was "Have you read the "Celestine Prophecy"? Every time you said something that he took as a compliment, he hugged you. My knees buckled about 3 times.....a beautiful and brilliant man.

It´s very inspiring to see classic rockers who have aged well and seem to have life by the balls´n slit. Wow to have lived 40-60 years of healthy and "unhealthy" rock´n rollª!

I’ve been a fan of Queen since I was a teenager. I love every single album and almost every song in them ( there are some I don’t really care for) I also like "The Cosmos Rock" with Paul Rodgers, which I don’t know why that album isn’t on Spotify anymore. But I do like Queen + Adam Lambert, he’s an amazing singer, flamboyant and has stage presence. He’s giving us the chance to see Brian and Roger touring and rocking again just like Paul did. I do not agree with anyone comparing them with Freddie; stop that!. Especially comparing Adam with Freddie. It’s ridiculous. Adam has his own personality and he’s not trying to imitate or act like him. He just took a job Brian and Roger offered him to do. He doesn’t have to fill Freddie’s shoes, we all know no one can. But he brings life to his songs his own way and the co-writers and Freddie’s mates are backing him up right there on stage giving Adam the privilege to sing them and that’s all that matters. Just sing along, enjoy the music, the beautiful songs, feel the good vibes. Otherwise stop comparing, criticizing and take your negativity somewhere else and play your favorite Queen songs. They will always be there; that’s why they were recorded for…to live forever.

THEY SAY THAT FREDDIE MERCURY, CRIED OUT TO JESUS CHRIST ON HIS DEATH BED, TO PLEASE FORGIVE HIM FOR HIS GAY LIFESTYLE. AFTER THIS LIFE THERE IS HEAVEN, PURGATORY OR HELL AND GOD WILL FORGIVE ANY SIN, BUT WE MUST ASK JESUS CHRIST'S FORGIVENESS, REPENT, AND GO AND SIN NO MORE. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

No matter how good Adam sings, he will never come close to Freddie!!!!!!! Just to know. dear Brian!!!!! Freddie had the charisma, the gift, the magic, that nobody hasn°t!!!! He just came on the stage, opened his mouth and created a special aura for him and the band!!!!! And his talent to play on the piano, writing songs and music are amazing and timeless!!!! And it°s a shame to use the name Queen without Freddie and John!!!!!! It°s not fair at all, Freddie and John were always fair and loyal members!!!!!!! He would not do this like you!!!!!!! If Freddie and John were around, they could fresh enough the band, don°t worry!!!!! They could have many ideas to make new stuffs for sure!!!!!!!

Sammy is by far the nicest down to earth former member of VH. I know Eddie had a tough upbringing not knowing English for the first few years etc in California, and Roth is a complicated person with a huge ego, but I'd rather have a beer with Sammy.
