I agree with you both! This is a masterpiece. If you listen closely (!) to every sound build up mix tunes and so forever and you will never get this out if ur head. ❤️

Couldn't agree more. The intro of this is spectacular. Especially at night and on maximum volume. Visually, the intro is just as good. I think a good intro sets the scene, gets the juices flowing, and psyched for what's ahead. A good example of this is the awe inspiring intro to Stingray - imagine this as a kid. Do yourself a favour and watch it..

I can't find a track that plays during first Shadow's and Laura's date (episode 4, starts arround 10:10). It appears again during bathtop scene in episode 5 (time 16:35). So light and fresh, feels like shower during hot day. It's not on the official OST, defenitly sounds like original score.

Isn't it strange that a wonderful music like this keep being pointed out it sounds like Trent Reznor's Immigrant Song, which to me, sounds pretty fucking like Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song? (I know the visual is similar too)It's just one guy borrowing style one guy borrowing melody.

This intro is fucking awesome, but a part of me doesn't like it. I think it doesn't fit the tone/mood that I got from when I read the book. The series has all the blood, sex, and swearing of the Walking Dead or Game of Thrones and interperpates the world as cruel, unapologetic, surreal, and trippy. But I interpreted the book as having a tone of sadness, despair and loss but it had a slight glimmer of hope and happiness. I got the same tone as when I first read Coraline and the Graveyard Book, sad and grim yet optimistic. I don't know wtf i'm talking about, please no hate!

I would say it's pretty hard to argue that American Gods' mood is melancholy. I think this intro suits the show perfectly. It presents the core themes of old vs. new, the mutable nature of cultures and beliefs, and the importance of faith in the human experience. It's a fucked-up song, a mishmash of techno, tribal music, jazz, classical, etc. and it comes together to form something bizarre and beautiful. The book is proving to be a different animal, and honestly, it should be. Technical Boy is the go-to example. The original concept wouldn't work nowadays, now that we're completely fucking surrounded by the Internet at all hours of the day. Social media affects politics in a pretty direct way nowadays. So no, it probably doesn't suit the tone of the book very much. But the tone of the show? Spot-fucking-on.

i think we should stop trying to associate the show with the book because it's being supervised closely by gaiman himself and is being updated for a brand new audience and a new generation. the book came out in 2001 when cell phones were barely a thing and now they're the core of our lives. the world has changed and so has the story
