This kind of stuff is great! You did it one handed as well.

WOW! You saved me a lot of grief with this quick fix. I would like to add one more step. Before trying to push the jack into the mic housing, connect it to a mic cable. That way you push it in until it clicks and it lines up perfectly.

that screw looks like a clamping screw which it clamps the metal plate of the XLR plug . Also Hello to @Howie Darkstar!

Nice to know about the set screw vs a regular screw. If you didn't know it you could possibly break the male plug. 👍

Nice job. Yeah you most likely wouldn't find a screw if it was missing at a big box store. They are reverse threads.
@briansredd Жыл бұрын
It would be tough to loose the screw. First, it would have to thread all the way in. Then, the male XLR would have to come out and THEN somehow thread all the way out. Kinda learned as I went on this one

What if the XLR plug is rotated inside the microphone, so I can't remove it to screw it back in?
@flavioharder3 ай бұрын
I mean, the plug is misaligned and stuck.

I think you have a fake shure microphone.

Which one? The Beta or the 58?

@@Elniniss I wasn't aware of fakes, but I just read up & watched a few videos on them. I just have the one that I bought used probably close to 20 years ago (or maybe even longer ago). From what I can tell, if it is a fake, it's a pretty good one. The capsule's suspension is what every side by side shows the real ones do, so there's not all of that handling noise. What made you think it was fake? Do you know when fake ones started showing up on the market?
@Elniniss Жыл бұрын
@@briansredd I have no idea when they started showing up. It seemed odd the the connector would come loose since those microphones are really robust. Also when you showed them side by side the beta had an extra hole in between the set screw and xlr connector latch. Might be a design change since you bought it many years ago.
@briansredd Жыл бұрын
@@Elniniss Yeah that extra hole was on the older ones. I think it's real, but only Shure knows I guess
