Brian kicks off 2024 with a visit to the Yucatecan capital, to discover the real Yucatan, and why this town was listed as, "One of the top destinations to visit in 2024."
Brian concludes his time in Merida, with a visit to three of the city's most notable barrios. He first visits Santa Lucia, which for over 200 years has been one of the city's most popular commercial districts. He then visits Santa Ana, regarded as one of Merida's most traditional neighborhoods, before concluding his trip on the city's famous Paseo Montejo, where henequen barons once made Merida the "millionaire capital of the world."

Now that I've posted all my Merida videos, I will say that Merida was a place that neither disappointed me nor astonished me. It had some nice attractions and architecture, but nothing that really stood out and made me go "WOW! This was worth the trip!" There wasn't as much to see as I thought, and the most important sites could in theory all be visited in one day, but I'd recommend at least 2 if you don't want to rush. That being said, if I were to do this trip again, I would base myself in Progreso and only visit Merida as a day trip. Because while I still think the city has some things that are worth visiting, it's not a relaxing place to stay. I didn't consider Progreso because I thought getting there from the airport and getting tours from there would be a challenge, but this wasn't the case. So if you're considering visiting this part of Mexico, I recommend staying in Progreso.
