Myself being a United States Marine Corps veteran ! This was music to my heart a true American patriot ❤ That still believes in the oath that we took country over party. To defend America from enemies foreign or domestic. Trump standing next to Russia's Putin in Helsinki going against his own American military national security team spoke volumes to me it so sad. Then listening to 60 minutes last sunday and how awful the China tiffs was economically to American farmers after building generations of trade deals with the world. I honestly came down to the comments to see if anyone else was complaining about that story. I'm sure some people have situations like that and we should be doing whatever we can (especially increasing minimum wage) to offset it, but the way it was done just irked me, just trying to score cheap political points. He's imaging a situation where she hasn't had dental care, a vacation or even a night out, etc, but he knows nothing about her. The lack of a ring on her finger (with no evidence of children) means she's obviously a single parent? There are plenty of people struggling in bad situations and we should be increasing minimum wage to improve the situations of anyone in that position, but I'm not a fan of making up situations to support your political opinion.

All he knew about her was that she makes $9.50, didn't have a benefits package, worked 40 hours plus a day on the weekends, looked 40ish and didn't have a ring on her finger. From that he extrapolated that she was a single parent (couldn't be childless, not wear a ring but be married, or be in a committed relationship without marriage), she is held rather captive because of the demands (couldn't add to that), and couldn't remember having a nice evening out, a vacation, or a dentist appointment. I agree with his point that our minimum wage is criminally low, I just really hate that tactic.

I grew up in Iowa and it is a very polarized state where there are highly educated people, two world class universities, high technology companies contrasted with largely low educated rural communities who actively vote against their own interests because they buy into the fear mongering of Republicans like Grassley, King, etc.
