Another awesome video. I watch alot of bricklaying channels it is so nice to see what I call "a proper bricklayer" someone who takes his time and does great work. My original bricky did his apprenticeship at London brick he was just like you full of great knowledge and experience which he loved to pass on. Please keep it up you're a diamond.

Great video pal.I’ve been running jobs for years and, to be honest I respect any bricklayer that comes up to me and says that the brickwork that they are coming off is out.Remember this you aint grassing up another bricky. You are making the forman aware of a potential problem.Keep the videos coming 👍

Good tip but in reality it shouldn't be that way, a good tradesman should never lower their standards but of course, the odd shyster slips through the net! Just be plumb and level in your own lift and if the work below is a bit piss-poor!

Always! Always! Always! Let the foreman make that call. Then it's out in the open and you only did what you were told. If you start on top of junk that's not right then how do you know that your right. (Never let someone talk you into something you can't do.) 🙂

The best piece of advice I can give any improver is to stay off off the houses. You need time to perfect your craft and the houses are just rush, rush, rush and being pushed by the alcoholic foreman. Go on sites building flats, commercial or conversion work. Don't ask me why by the standard always seems to be better and you are given time. I am 56 now, I have never ever been the fastest trowel on the site but I have been the neatest on some and I get respect for that.

To add to this, commercial brickwork has the backing of a ton of money so they can afford to have the delays and the patience to work for quality, as well hire really good craftsmen. Residential work is a lot about production in order to make money, also most homeowner won’t be able to tell when something is off. Few experienced guys recommend that apprentices get a year of residential work just to see what it is like, and a feel for the pace but then to always go back to commercial work.

I have to say I enjoy all the bricky channels but your channel is all about quality and pride in your work, not quantity, old school values which are all too scarce these days. After all ones work is a reflection of ones self.😅😅 did I just say that I'm getting very philosophical in my old age.
