Charlie here in the US we use a plastic jointer their made of clear plastic for white mud like your using that way you can't burn your joints that's what we call it when. You get theose hateful black marks you get if the joints get a bit dryer I think Marshall Town and W Rose sells them you just have to watch how there wareing after a while the start changing shape and will make your joints change shape

Charlie, on my diving trips I was in Mozambique with my SA friends they sent me off with the pick up to get the handmade bricks made by the locals. They started putting all the green bricks in the pick up, they were no good so like with that half you chucked I started lobbing out the green bricks (not fired properly ) out the pick up. Went back with a pick up full of the best hand made bricks you have seen. Told Dad he lit his roll up as he listened to the story laughing.

Yeah, we've used the glass and plastic jointers for such applications. I, personally prefer the plastic to joint with but, as advised, you have to watch the wear on them or they'll begin leaving "tool marks." As for the sponge, I've only ever used them on glass block. What criteria will make you choose sponge over brush? Thanks for the vid and feedback... awesome stuff.

@@martin2466 3/4 should go under the windows ideally. Never on a door or window reveal. In any bond. Half bond, English, Flemish whatever. Even on timber frame houses I’d find a way around it, general you set this out at the beginning to avoid it. That’s what I have always been taught by college and every bricklayer worth their wage. I’m not slagging Charlie off because he’s clearly a top bricklayer and I wouldn’t still be here watching his videos after all this time.
