His character makes the show so much better

It gives the scene even more depth if you go back and see the similarities of when he was talking to and killed doppleganger in season 2

That is fascinating to me, seeing how it's one of the few scenes I found to be exceptionally... infantilizing of the audience? Basically, I found it cliché to the point of immersion breaking.

That's why homelander is really strong af,and as for the fighting part,in the comics and in diabolical,he was technically given training by elite commandos and soldiers,so he technically knows how to fight,he just doesn't use it until it's necessary.

I mean, it was only two, and those were temporary supers, nothing like a full one and because soldier boy had to step back to charge up that power to blast him.

But again, I just don’t think he’s the strongest, but flight is a pretty big advantage. Also, I don’t think you can expect people with temporary powers that is slowly melting their insides and killing them to be on par with an actual supe that has permanent powers with no side effects.

Butcher made the mistake of trying to match Homelander's strength. To beat him, you need to focus on skill. Without that massive strength advantage, he has nothing. He never had to learn how to fight because nobody could hurt him until now.

@@paulanderson771 Not exactly. The thing is in the comic version and in the show he uses his powers in a lazy way. This was shown in the crashing airplane scene. Also in the comics it was Nior who took him down someone with skill and strength on his level. It hasn't been said if soldier boy has super strength but he's clearly strong.

@@TimedRevolver well technically homelander was given combat training by elite commandos when he was young,so yeah he does know how to fight,he just doesn't do it that often. The last episode of diabolical proves this and it's cannon as well.

Because it’s lazy written and the writers need to make these inconsistency to create drama because I just read a few days ago something the showrunner said…”Maeve might have won if the fight went any longer” and I don’t want to believe that because if that’s the case then there’s no stakes, they nerfed the hell out of Homelander because Butcher and Maeve alone could’ve beat him all this time. Next season when they try to sell that Homelander is dangerous is bs because they would only need Butcher, Kimiko, Starlight and maybe another supe and that’s it. The whole storyline of getting Soldier Boy is pointless and horrible written, he only gave Homelander a bruise while Maeve was able to make him bleed and supposedly could’ve beat him so there’s no need for anyone else. Literally in Herogasm Butcher and Maeve could’ve killed Homelander so If that’s the case I am taking a lot of points of this show with the writing because it’s horrible written then. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Mentally yes. Physically,not so much. He held his own pretty well though against 2 supes until hughie showed up,that actually shows that he really is strong.
