I really appreciate that they chose not to give Stoick any cheesy last breathless lines. It was far more impactful for him to just suddenly be gone. Even though I was gutted he died 😢

Right! Nobody gets to say goodbye, there's no last final moments between he and Hiccup, or his wife that he only just now reconnected with after 20 years thinking she was gone for good. None of that, and Stoick was gone in a split second. As gut wrenching as his death really is, I'm so glad it was done the way it was because it's so much more impactful that way

I love the reality of some of the things they do in these films. There was no last breath death bed speech. Just instant death. Life just ends sometimes and it hurts. He didn't give it a second thought to save his son

About the dad we see a whole different side to him especially from his mom saying that when he was born and very weak it's the dad that had faith in him. The thing is they have to remove the dad from the series if hiccup is to grow. For his whole life the dad was like a safety net.

Right? And the fact that it wasn't jarring how he reacted to seeing his wife again even tho he's always been characterized as a hard man. It just felt like we're finally seeing an extension of Stoick we never got to see, that we're finding out he's a romanticist and that totally fits. They didn't have to hammer that in. I really love how they wrote him. Old but gold trope.

Dreamworks does animated series for a lot of their films, multiple series for some -- Kung Fu Panda, Boss Baby, Puss in Boots, Madagascar (Penguins, King Julian, etc), HTTYD, etc. The animation is not as detailed; you won't see individual hairs, etc. and some of the shows are aimed at younger viewers. But the animation is still enjoyable to look at, the writing is good, there's good voice actors and the TV shows are able to feature some of the minor characters and give them background. Not necessarily canon, but I really enjoyed the ones I watched.

The 2 series take place in between the movies, Dragons: Riders of Burk takes place between the first movie and the second and Dragons: Race to the Edge takes place between the second movie and the third

Yes it was confirmed by the voice actor Craig Ferguson and the director Dean DeBlois, for the movies at least. There was an added storyline of a female love interest for the tv show but the episode was written well before the release of HTTYD 2 so slight continuity issue there which wasn't intended.

You should look up the behind the scenes interview skit with kit and toothless, it's hilarious 😂 every step on hiccup and toothless' journeys are parallels. When the chief and alpha both die, and the two of them having to step up 😢...in the third film too their arcs match well.

Please watch tv series about dragons: "Dragons, Riders of Berk" and "Race to the Edge". It's great shows, whitch explain some things from second film. This shows unfortunately, doesn't get attention they deserved( it's literally only one channel on KZfaq who filmed reactions on this and this is breaking my heart :(

the how to train your dragon movie series is my favorite dreamworks series the 3rd one isn't as good as the 1st one but that's my opinion
