My great uncle helped create the Inverewe gardens on the west coast of Scotland. His brother worked on another famous garden but have forgotten the name. I began gardening when I was 10 in our modest council house and Grandmother said that it must be in my genes. I am more interested in the architecture of the spaces and how they flow than the actual planting but for me it it one of the most selfless occupations as we rarely get to see grow what we plant. In a previous garden I planted 120 trees and shrubs and 55 roses along with many acid loving plants, rhododendrons and azaleas and hostas. It took me 15 years but I never got to see it mature. My last garden I planted many fruit trees and shrubs but didn't get to see them mature either. I now have an internal courtyard with ambition !

My aunt and uncle loved national trust gardens and stately homes when they didn't have an easy life. ❤ Now they are unwell and don't travel. Travel when you have time and health.

Love the water saving garden. We try our best not to waste water and use a bowl during the summer to wash the dishes, using eco friendly washing of liquid, then we save that water in a bucket for use in watering our plants or spraying those with green fly as the soap in the water helps get rid of them

The gardens at Chelsea this year are absolutely stunning and each one with a moving story behind it. So wonderful that they are moved to other locations and charities once Chelsea is finished. The world children’s cancer garden won an environmental initiative award as no power tools used in the construction. The clay bricks slot together and were 3d printed. Thank you for an insightful and inspiring tour of RHS Chelsea, its sheer joy and bliss ☺

Thanks Stephanie,Phillip and Andy. Lovely visit to Chelsea. We had tickets for 2020 but COVID ruined that. It’s so lovely to see it through your eyes and listen to the designers explain their inspirations. Hope to get there one day when we are back to travelling after my stroke. With big thanks from Kerri-Anne and Ken ( the Aussies who donated the gum boots a few years ago). Hope to plan another visit to LaLande in the future.

I love the National Trust for its vision and protection of beauty and space. You don’t need to be a paying member either as much of Britain’s coastline is under their guardianship and open to walk. NT Sissinghurst is rightfully famous for its gardens but attracts coaches of visitors so can get very busy. Also not many benches if you are with someone who needs frequent rests. NT Polesden Lacey is a good one as you can also see the fabulous house as well as a variety of gardens and woodland. Good all year round.

So wonderful to talk to the people that design, create and build these fantastic gardens, I saw some of gardens world and RHS shows and they are so generic and not detailed. I love knowing the back story and the small details that they have created that the other shows have just dismissed.

I grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia! That was the first capital of the 13 colonies and also the location of the governors Palace the governor, of course, was appointed by the king of England! It was also the first planned city in America! Because of the lack of spaces for gardens around homes in London and England at the time for a regular folk The city is exactly 1 mile with the Capitol building one and college of William and Mary at the other end which of course was a college for minister at that time! The houses and the shops that are located along the sides of the streets, all set back a specific distance at that time there were horses and carriages going up and down the street, but there were also spacious sidewalks for the people to walk! Behind each home, and also the taverns and many of the shops were beautiful gardens we still enjoy these gardens today! The English, Certainly know how to do gardens! Most homes and Williamsburg also have Gardens and as I was growing out, my parents built a house in 1950 and my father of course became a wonderful gardener and he loved roses so we had the most beautiful roses compete with the neighbors for growing the roses! So I am thankful for growing up in this area. I am thankful for my own English heritage on my mother side and both of my parents came from growing up on farms so we were able to grow most of our own food and my mom would can and freeze much of it so I had a very healthy childhood

Oh I’ve Lived on Smith Street in Chelsea Which was one of the main Entrance to The Flower Show, It Was an Amazing Place to Live , and On End Day the Designers Sold Off all there Plants , It’s Amazing Then to Live In Chelsea 👌👍👍🥰

I desperately hope to travel to Europe one day. I added Glendurgan to the list of must see places. If you do go to the south of England you may also want to visit another must see place, the Minack Theater in Penzance. It's an amazing spot I discovered while taking a virtual walk on street view one day. Rowena Cade built it herself and she's an amazing character as well. I love all your work. I may never get to Europe but if I don't at least I see amazing things through your eyes. Thank you.

I love the way you present the gardens by letting the people who made them talk. A garden space no matter how big or small can become your oasis and special place.

I particularly like hearing about what will happen to the gardens after the show. I used to think these kinds of shows would just dismantle everything in the end, which just seems wasteful. But last year you showed a garden that was going to live on in an inner city school and this year in a hospital. That‘s really lovely to know! And the designs are beautiful of course.

An absolutely stunning display of flowers, thank you so much for sharing this! I had a beautiful backyard full of flowers and different colours of foliage and I lost it all when I got a new dog who loved to just go rampaging through it all. I saved what I could and transplanted it but it’s never been the same. This makes me miss it very much!

Philip you truly captured the gardens even throughout the rain and cold and it's a joy to see that Davy has created such a special gardens' at Lalande in such a short amount of time that become more beautiful each year.

Bridgerton garden is or could be enclosed enought to keep wildlife away from eating the hostas. The structures are there also that would deter them even more. Of course there are sprays and invisible fences... Or as my daughter suggested one could plant something further away for them... The hostas planted as they are i those hues with the white foxgloves and few others is so beautyful. Of course the gray rather than red brick colors. and autumnal colors.And then on the other side the romantic plantings.

When the worries of the world weary and society ceases to satisfy there is always the GARDEN
