Book did go out the window early on but I have to say that I actually liked this on screen Kate/Anthony better than the novel, ultimately. The only complaint i had was that we needed more of them and less of the side stories. My hope is that we see more of them next season too. But overall, I enjoyed it, won't lie I did FF some side scenes. As far as physical intimate scenes, I usually prefer near touches, those slight almost moments. The anticipation and build up to me is far spicer sometimes vs the actual physical act. I think the pt where it explodes is in episode 7 when they finally sleep together. So yes way way less intimate scenes than S1 but the palpability and anticipation was far better IMO for this season. Also I thought the chemistry was far better than Daphne/Simon in S1. The only complaint is I wanted more Kate/Anthony scenes.

I missed the library scene, too. It gave their relationship more depth, Anthony consoling Kate and having an understanding of her fear, because he has his own. And Kate realising he is very caring and not so terrible. Would have loved that, it was so touching.

Totallynagree as this is where we see the real Anthony and where he doesn't understand whynhe wants to help and protect Kate and makes excuses ( as does Kate. I feel they completely missed the point when the screenwriters didn't understand HOW important that scene is to the plot. ALSO the Bee sting scene was made only 2 dimensional by the way wrote it cutting out the pots of the scene that made it highly important . Very bland in comparison to the book which makes it 3 dimensional ( I was very disappointed) all the wasted wedding nonsense could have expanded on Edwina actually meeting her Dream Man , A Scholar, Mr Bagwell ( who is studying to be an Archaeologist. A VERY 1800'S romantic profession) who she marries

The love triangle kinda gave the story more depth to me, and it allowed Edwina a growth that I don’t think she got in the books. Marriage of convenience are a dime a dozen in regency romance so I glad that didn’t put that on screen again. And the Mary... Her relationship with Kate is my favorite child- parent relationship in all of the series, but on the show she is just a little more than a set piece. I'm especially bumped that they didn't keep that bit about Kate always calling Mary by her name instead of "mother". Mary loved Kate as her own daughter and never demanded anything in return, even just the well-deserved honor of being called "mother", and Kate sees Mary as her true mother in anyway that matters, but still chooses to respect the woman who gave birth to her by not replacing her with someone else, even if just by the way she refers her. It's a beautiful, powerful statement about the bonds of blood vs the bonds you chose, all said by a single word Kate *doesn't* say to Mary.

I recently reread It’s in His Kiss and the scenes where Violet is giving birth to Hyacinth and when she talked about it with Anthony afterwards were so heartbreaking 😢 (every scene in relation to Edmund was tbh) and I can’t believe they refused to do a marriage of convenience two seasons in a row but had the Bridgertons being in a scandal and Colin being swindled by the Featheringtons in both seasons!! 😂

@@sandikle they made Berbrooke so awful and unlikable last season that it was out of the question to follow the books and have him marry Produce, who is portrayed as not the brightest person but overall a good one. but including his suitors rivalry with Anthony over Edwina would even make sense, as Edwina actually has good reasons to stay away from Berbrooke that Anthony would know and Kate wouldn't

That was my issue too, right from the get-go. They revealed her waaaaaay too early. Imagine the suspense everyone would be feeling right now not knowing who lady W was. It would have served for so much more material when they finally did Colin and Penelope's story. And as many have said, it wouldn't have taken the time and focus away from the preceding characters' stories too. They should have held out on that.

I loved this season, this coming from someone who adores the book. This is my problem with Bridgerton S1 & 2, CVD etc. get wrapped up in the production that they forget about the fans. S1: We never hear Simon say, “I love you,” to Daphne. Missed opportunity. S2: Why do we get Edwina’s wedding yet not Kate’s? It’s as if they were panicking that they had to wrap everything up in episode 8. Episode 6 could have been half the length to later incorporate Anthony & Kate’s wedding. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Again, I LOVED this, but wanted more of the leads & less Featherington’s. It is called Bridgerton for a reason.

I think for the sexual content not being as much as season 1 makes sense as the first story is about Daphne figuring out her sexuality. Where as this is more about Anthony learning to open his heart and admit to loving someone so more tension and angst is shown. I love the book, it is my favourite in the series but I also loved what they did with the show and how they changed things. I think being able to separate the two is actually quite good cause now you can view or read it and experience it differently. As for the time line changes I think they might kinda start to mix things all together cause a lot of the middle grouping of the books are around the same 1-2 yr time frame. Especially 4/5/6, 3 does come a little earlier, but if they do them all kinda mixed it might be better for the flow of a show vs a book. But overall I loved it.

Loved your video! For me, this season was probably around 4.5/5. I know that a lot of book fans wanted to see the bee scene as written, but it didn’t really land for me when I read it, so I was super excited to see what the show did with it. I LOVED the show version-I thought it built Anthony and Kate’s relationship really well, and seeing her calming him down during a panic attack was really special for me as someone who lives with a lot of anxiety. Other favourite things: - the enemies to lovers / Peak Beatrice/Benedict energy between Kate and Anthony - On that subject, Kathony Chemistry 🔥🔥🔥 - Even though neither was the book library scene, I loved the show’s not one but TWO library scenes 🙌🏽 - Edwina as a character, especially her interaction with the king - development of Colin and Penelope’s characters and relationship - Benedict as a comedic chaotic ray of sunshine - the Sharma/Bridgerton family dance scene. I loved watching them laughing together - any mention of Edmund I was less a fan of: - Jack and Mrs Featherington - the pacing. During the final episode I kept checking the timestamp worrying that they wouldn’t get a satisfying HEA. I wanted them to have more screentime showing them settling in to being a couple I think with the early reveal of Lady Whistledown, having Colin and Penelope be the next couple makes sense. I don’t see how they can convincingly drag that drama through eight episodes of next season. But Polin also seems so young in this season so I’m a bit unsure. Thanks again. Really enjoyed your reactions!

This book was my favorite in the series so to say I was disappointed in the adaptation would be an understatement. Your comments about too much focus on other storylines was spot on. Kate and Anthony had amazing chemistry on the show and they didn't capitalize on it. What I hated with the power of 1000 suns was the actual love triangle between the sisters and Anthony. I hate, hate, hate when women fight over men and this was a huge misstep for me. High points were any Bridgerton family scenes and the scenes with Kate and Anthony. The rest? They can keep it. Do better in season 3 Shondaland!

I thought season 1 was better than the book, and for season 2, the book was better. Not to slight the actors, there was good chemistry between them, but for it being their love story, they didn’t have as much screen time together as they should have. Also, in the book, Edwina was never “in love” with Anthony, I didn’t like that aspect at all. And I always liked when Anthony stood up for Penelope and escorted her….maybe that was just a small thing, but I was kinda bummed that didn’t make it in the show.

I absolutely loved how she managed to get rid of all of the blame by portraying herself as one of the victims, but I don't get how getting the title to one of her daughters' son would work. Is there an historical precedent for this? If there isn't, I think they shouldn't have done this, they could easily have her live of the money she scammed out of everyone and be discreet about how she has it, without relying on the Featherington assets at all. It would solve plots of many historical romances I have read way too easily, so I wonder how I have never seen it used before. Would it go to the son of the oldest daughter, or just to the first daughter to have a son? it would definitely make all of them much more eligible on the marriage mart if it is the later, but it would make them a gamble to fortune hunters- it would entirely depend on which would manage to sire a son first... Very confusing, but if someone knows about an historical precedent of this I would love to hear

I didn't like the love triangle, it could be totally avoided, it didn't add anything to the story. Also they just wasted the library scene and filled with unnecessary Fatheringtons. The scene was sooooooo powerful in the book, we could have seen those characters comforting each other, having close physical proximity but they just wasted it. Talking about good changes, I really liked Mary's backstory and the conflict with her parents. Coming to the most memorable dialogue of the season for me is when Kate said she was going back to India and Anthony snapped "THAT IS NOT FAR ENOUGH" Damn I felt his frustration🥵 Edit: now that I am rewatching the episodes, I kind of understand that why they avoided *marriage of convenience* and *too many racy scenes*. The show is targeted to a larger audience and most of them may not have read the book. Also the actor who played Simon in the last season became overnight sexy heart throb. S2 writers desperately wanted to avoided any type of comparisons because S1 is still fresh in people's mind. So they tried to avoid any type of similarity as much as possible

I think they should have gotten married after Daphne caught them. Even if Daphne won't talk, the fact that she caught them still should have some consequences. She could have used it to make Anthony marry Kate if she truly thought that it was the right thing to do. It might be 2 marriages of convenience in a row but it would still have been far better than all the pointless drama that took place past that point. Also why are we talking about 'marriage of convenience' as such a bad thing? It's my favorite trope in historicals, personally

I liked this season but it didn’t completely meet my expectations. I wish they didn’t veer so far from the book with the bee scene, the library scene, K&A’s fears, and the wedding. I think they really did a disservice to K&A’s relationship by not talking about her fear of storms and his fear of not outliving his father causing his aversion to love. It would have been so great to see that on screen. I understand that having other storylines are necessary to introduce subplots of other books but while the Featherington storyline was funny at first, it just began overtaking the plot. The buildup between Kate and Anthony was too long and felt very rushed at the end and I think it’s because other storylines overshadowed it like you said. We didn’t even get to see their married life!! Kate and Anthony felt more like side characters at times during this season which is so unfair because this season is supposed to be their love story, not Edwina and Anthony’s. They took the love triangle too far and it kind of soured the romance for me. And as for Edwina! The sisterly bond between Edwina and Kate in the books was great and I don’t like that they sabotaged that in the show. They also didn’t really flesh out Mary and Kate’s relationship which was my favourite in the book! Edwina and Mary practically disappeared at the end after the Queen told Edwina she has a nephew who is a prince. Simone and Jonathan have a lot of on-screen chemistry which was great to see but I wish the writers would have spent more time building a friendship between them and not just attraction. I think if they did, the payoff would’ve been even better. I still enjoyed this season but I think it caused more frustration than joy watching it. I think season 1 was stronger. I hope season 3 sticks to the plot of the books more.

As a book reader, I’m glad I knew going in that it deviated significantly from the book because that freed me up to enjoy the show for what it was rather than what I expected to be. I honestly didn’t mind the ramping up of sexual tension and cutting down of sex scenes because I could watch Jonathan Bailey do sexy-close-to-her-face talking all day long. I absolutely loved Kate and Anthony. It’s insane how electric their chemistry was. And overall, I know the type of love triangle they did in the show (more a product of circumstance than actual conflicted feelings) is a trope of Bollywood movies as is a slow burn romance, so I actually appreciated those changes from the book to reflect south Asian culture. The subplots were pretty distracting to me, but overall, I loved the onscreen version of Kanthony so much and was so completely invested in them that this season was a total win for me. I reread this to prep for the Season 2 release of Bridgerton. Binged all night 8-4am haha. As a reader, I am hurt that they wavered from the original story so much. I wanted the strong bond of sisterhood to be maintained, the mutual understand as the eldest siblings to do what is expected of duty. But as an admirer, I appreciate how they expanded the world and explored the various dynamics of beloved and newly concocted characters. The class differences, the expectations thrusted on the sexes by society, the secrets that mean loyalty and/or betrayal. How can a person maintain either in the face of secrets? In this historical fantasy they still manage to explore the highs and lows of life. The true essence was about the brigerTON. I will not be comparing it to the books moving forward.

Non book reader here (but romance reade, yes). Knowing a bit about the plot of the book, though, I'm all for what they changed. I think it made the show more grounded, increased the stakes, and turned up the sexual tension to a hundred. It felt earned, and the yearning was 10x more gratifying in my opinion.

As much as Edwina and Kate’s relationship pained me in the show, and I was on the edge of my seat that the engagement actually was happening, I think they did have to do a big deviation from the book plot-wise for TV purposes. My rationale is that I recall reading book2 and being surprised that Julia Quinn would do similar plots with the first two books. It felt very repetitive to me and thought it would not translate well to have a similar plot structure in the adaptation - having back to back seasons where they have to marry after being "found" and the love declaration happens after the wedding?? I don’t think dragging on the engagement was the only or best way to go about it, but it helped to emphasize in some way Kate’s almost maternal love towards Edwina and wanting her to be happy even if she had to lie to both of them. You could tell in the show, that Kate was considering coming clean but stopped when Edwina said that she loved him- which I agree with your comment that I think she was in love with how Anthony protected her family at the dinner but not with him per se.

@@kathryncollins1635 Kate was stung by the bee and Anthony was horrified that she might die like his father. His solution was to suck the venom out (he thought bees had venom) and they were caught by Mary, Violet, and Lady Featherington. Which resulted in engagement for Anthony and Kate. The book scene sounds way better than my explanation.

I haven’t read to books and probably won’t in the near future but I did like the first season of the show. I am quite a fan of period drama but to be honest I did not understand why season one was so loved and praised. Simon and Daphne sure had a lot of chemistry but I wasn’t complete won over but overall story and didn’t understand the characters probably because I didn’t read the books prior. All in all I liked the first season and knew that I would watch the next one asap. After I saw the first sneak peak that was given to us for this season (the scene where Kate confronts Anthony) I was totally in love with them. In this short clip i was already won over by their chemistry and was ready to watch. Then after finally seeing the trailer I have to admit that I was rather afraid that I was to hyped and would be disappointed after watching the season. Now i have finished the season and only can think of the show.. no joke! I like this season at least ten times better then the last one. It looks so much better( sets, costumes) and Jonathan and Simone are just brilliant. I really loved every single thing about the season and hope that Jonathan and Simone will appear regularly( I mean the estate they are all living in is his) because seeing them “happily” together for only 3 minutes was the only thing I didn’t like in this season. Sorry for the long comment but I am the only one in my friend group watching this show so I have the let out all of my emotions here in the comments.

I did the same thing! Binged it on Friday and it was glorious. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as I expected. so many changes from the book that it feels like a completely different story. They removed the marriage of convenience aspect! They removed their fears! WTF? The bee scene was just ruined in my eyes. Featherington story line needs to just go away already. Collin being in this season was meh. They did a great job of building the tension between them but the love triangle/rift between sister? Way too out of character. Why put in a wedding and it not be the one we wanted to see? Makes no sense. Ok rant over....I'll re watch it but that will probably be it. Lets hope they stick closer to the original story for Sophie and Benedict.

I think they got rid of the marriage of convenience plot line because the main complaint people have of this book was that it felt repetitive of the first one, and back when season one ended people were saying they hoped that Shonda would change that.

The same thing happened to me on episode 5. My tv wouldn't load that episode, so I had to watch it on my laptop. I also didn't like that the show changed Edmund's favourite flower from Hyacinth (which was why Hyacinth was named Hyacinth) to lilacs. To me, it takes away the meaning of her name.

I definitely loved Kate & Anthony!. Definitely not like the book but their essence was and tbh I love both the book and adaptation which is rare for me. Though I must say the one thing I didn’t like was how different they made edwina since in the books she catches on quickly, but for tv sake I get it. Also way too much feathertons and not enough Kate & Anthony. Kate & Anthony are my everything 💕

I felt like the marriage of convenience would’ve been a repeat of the storyline of season 1. Especially for non book readers. Also seeing Anthony’s wall break down piece by piece as he falls hopelessly in love with Kate was beautiful to see. Instead of being forced, they made the choice to do something for themselves as Anthony put it

Finished! Overall I would give this season 3.5/5, it's good, but not great. (For context, I also gave the book 3.5/5, so I'm probably more open to changes than others). I thought episode 1 through 4 are solid, then the rest are a bit of a mess (little too 'Dynasty' melodrama than witty and fun) - though there are still really good parts sprinkled in. The actors charisma and the aesthetics really carried the show, and it was fun realizing we have NO IDEA where the show is going halfway through! What I like: - All the additional family moments within the Bridgerton (especially the younger ones, they are pretty present throughout) - The flashback with Anthony's father 😢 - Really embracing Benedict being the hippie in the family who's always high 😝 - The Lady Whistledown intrigue was actually kind of clever What I didn't enjoy as much: - The whole financial scheming with the Featherington took too much runtime - The queen is involved in too many things - The wedding situation (it's too drawn out for me)

I love the season! It was very different from the books, but I liked that. I can always go back to reading the book if I want that nostalgia (it's my favourite in the series), but I loved how chaotic everything was... It made for a fun TV show. I agree with the too-long wedding and too-short ending, but I am hoping that means we get to see more of their future in the coming seasons rather than all at once! Benedict HAS to be next! I love the order of the books, it just makes sense, especially since Colin and Penelope need to have that back and forth to really make them that long-awaited pairing.

There is a lot about the show I like, even the changes from the book. The component of their relationship I missed the most from the books is them conquering their fears! There was a little bit of that in the show, but on a much different level, so I did miss the intensity of the original library scene where Kate is basically having a panic attack because of the storm.

I didn't finish my s1 rewatch so I spent a good part of the day yesterday finishing that. Then as soon as I finished I started watching s2 and spent the rest of the day binging it. I ... am kind of disappointed. Listen, I am usually a book purist (except for classic books), but for the Bridgerton series I was more than open for there being changes. The Duke and I and season 1 were pretty similar and taking into account the fact that The Viscount Who Loved Me and The Duke and I are essentially the same book, season 2 had to go through a big transformation. The fact that changes were made isn't what bothers me, it's the specific changes that were made that do. Kate, Anthony, and Daphne were the highlight of the season. I loved Anthony being less toxic in the show than in the books. I missed the Kate/Edwina relationship as well as the Mary/Kate one. I hated nearly all the subplots. Eloise annoyed me. She came off as a cis-het rich yt girl who wanted to cosplay as progressive. Like Penelope said, she's all talk no action and like Theo essentially told her (before he admitted he only said it to push her away) she's a rich girl who doesn't have to worry about anything because she is part of the ton. Colin's statement about never courting/marrying Penelope was crueler in the series than it was in the books. Saying it to your two brothers because you were tired of being pressured to marry and they were pushing Penelope on you? It was a mortifying scene but ok. Telling it to an entire group of random men when asked if you were courting her? He's a consistent let down. I couldn't care less about the Featheringtons that aren't Penelope. Colin still being hung up on Marina irked me. Thank goodness she set him straight. I didn't care for the Sheffield plot. At all. It seems like it should've been a big deal but ultimately only served for two things (1) to give a nod to the books (2) to give Anthony an exit for the marriage but even then he didn't use it. The show could have done away with this subplot entirely. Ultimately a ton of people didn't read the books so they didn't need the Sheffield nod and a lot of book fans don't care that the last name was changed. I didn't care about Benedict's art school endeavors until we learn he only got in thanks to Anthony. Learning about how Violet acted after Edmund's death enraged me. Telling your 18 year old kid who has just been thrown into the Viscount position overnight that you wish your daughter had killed you because you rather be with Edmund was... Watching Anthony have no guidance helping him navigate his new responsibilities was heartbreaking. Thinking about the times Violet told him he wasn't living up to his father made me lose respect for her which sucks because book Violet was great. The Edwina thing was taken waaaay too far. A lot of (book) people hate Edwina for it but I think it's because they're blinded by Kate/Anthony. Yes, Edwina being naive made her annoying. But the hate is unwarranted. If anything Kate and Anthony came out looking worse in this. The change wasn't just a disservice to Edwina but to Kate and Anthony as well. Kate and Anthony also deserved more screen time. Although maybe they did get a lot of screen time and it's just the fact that non-Kanthony plots sucked that makes it feel like we needed more of them (the only good thing in the season).

I watched it over the weekend! I liked it. It gave me Pride and Prejudice vibes. The war between Kate and Anthony went on a little too long. Once Edwina told Kate that she loved Anthony. The lines became blurred. My opinion was that both of them were marrying each other out of obligation to their respective families, and not because of love!

I have read the book and enjoyed it and I was quite dissapointed by some of the scenes left out. For example, giving the fact that Anthony is a known rake and his history with Siena I would have really wanted to see the scene when Kate hides in Anthony's study. Also Anthony bringing flowers to Kate to change her opinion of him, instead of coming empty handed and instead of bringing that horse. I would have really liked to see Anthony reading to Kate in the library, at Aubrey Hall, given the plot changes. I would have liked to see more than a 2 minute marriage. The chemistry was great, but it changed to fast from hate to love. He was talking so much of being a gentleman but he gave up really fast when Kate rejected his proposal. They made Lady F scam Colin once again but they couldn't make Cressida mean again and have the scene where Anthony rescues Penelope? Or even bringing Berbrooke back to court Edwina and marry a Featherington. Where is Daphne, the duchess when you need her to brush off the scandal involving her family? She came to save Colin, but not Anthony and Eloise? Why bring up the Benedict and madame Delacroix relationship just to have her reject him? My heart broke for Edwina, for Peneloise and for Kate when she was called half sister by Edwina and also sent away by Mary. I could go on but I will stop now. lol English is my second language so I hope my rant makes sense.

I wanted more of the romance between Kate and Anthony then we ended up with. Seeing how the season ended I'm not sure if I liked the way they revealed Penelope as Whistle down. I wish they wouldn't have. And I hope we do get Benedict's season next, I love him and he seems like he just has the purest heart, and I want him to finally find himself Edit: I was so bored in episode 6, when we spent the entire episode just watching everybody talk while we waited to hear about Edwina's decision, wasted an episode

I am personally glad about the changes. I’ve seen the recaps for the books. And the different stories. And I got to say they all seem pretty much the same. So I’m happy that they are changing things. Some people are upset that they change things that are in the book but obviously Shanda Rimes doesn’t want to be repetitive as the books are. I personally do not mind the Shanda rhymes changing books that are problematic, misogynistic and have this weird idea of consent and is really SA and hard to like, but hey that’s just me😑

I think the problem is they changed all the things that make the Book great in the first place For example, They got rid of the Library scene where Anthony and Kate comfort each other. They took the love triangle too far that they ruined Kate and Edwina's relationship, and made Kate somehow the Villain. And of course they got rid of the Comedy from the book

This will be loooong so first of all, thanks for coming to my TED TALK… 😂✌🏼 I loooooooved the book a lot (A LOT), so I obviously had lots of high expectations. On first watch I didn’t enjoy the show nearly at all! I suffered way too much thinking how different it was from the book. Maybe I should have gone into watching it with a different mindset but it was just way too painful. The actors portrayals are great, but I’m so mad at the show writters, I honestly feel they gave us NOTHING!! They could have added many beloved and pivotal scenes from the book and they didn’t??? And the one(s) they have included why not keep them the same! THEY ARE FAN FAVES FOR A REASON. I get they have to make changes/add more drama, but this was going waaaaay too far in my opinion 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Also don’t get me started on the bee scene, they should have AT LEAST kept K/A interaction the same during the scene and maybe made Daphne the one who discovered them… if the goal was to avoid a marriage of convenience, it would have worked this way since Daphne wouldn’t have told a soul. They destroyed Edwina’s character, I barely recognised her… and btw what’s the point in making Kate a somewhat of a villain?? They failed to explain everything Kate does is for her sister and only having her sister’s best interest at heart. I hate they made her in the 1st ep like she thought she was superior to Lady D, and she was so rude to Violet the first time they met!! Again, WHY?? No library scene, Kate not fearing storms, Anthony not fearing dying young… all of them were a huge deal in the book. When they made Anthony and Edwina be engaged, I knew it was going to go even more downhill from then on… the wedding scene should have never had happened, it made Edwina furious with Kate (and understandably so, since show Edwina was in love with Anthony), why did they have to ruin the relationship between the sisters?? So unfair to Kate’s character, and it made her look even worse in my opinion to non-readers (I’ve discussed this with friends who have not read the books, and they weren’t near half as invested in K/A this season as they were with Anthony & Sienna in S1). You aren’t supposed to make people dislike your lead (this same friends told me they couldn’t sympathise with her during the 1st few episodes)…what’s wrong with the writters?!? They make us watch a failed E/A wedding but NOT THE ACTUAL KANTHONY WEDDING I’M SORRY BUT W🤬T🤬FFFF! Why don’t show the Viscount’s real wedding, at this point I’ve two options: I either stay mad or laugh about how absurd everything is🤣🤣 It’s not fair getting just 10 minutes of happy K/A at the end, I expected at least 2/3 episodes of them together (when I saw the episode titles early this past week I had such high hopes… but they were all for nothing). Overall it felt the show made their match be super rushed. I get it’s a slow burn, I like them when done good. They kept adding drama and other storylines instead of focusing more on the two of them and the evolution of their relationship. The banter at times felt like just pure hate with no tension whatsoever, that being said, I did like all the “anticipation” scenes but they felt a bit underwhelming since there were just around 4 scenes total and barely 5 minutes each. Such a shame given the amazing chemistry J&S have. They gave the subplots the same weight (if not more) as the main one. I liked the Featherington storyline but I’d cut down around 40% of it. I’m unable to speak of what they’ve done to PenEloise (I would have also cut down by 50% Eloise and Theo’s story). The ball being a fiasco and ruining the Bridgerton name for what exactly? Bennedict and Daphne were the only “main” siblings I 100% liked. Right now I’m on my 2nd rewatch, but I’m only watching some scenes from the subplots and all K/A scenes, this way it’s gotten better but it still feels a bit lacking. (Edit: KZfaq fan edits are giving me life atm, idk if it is because they put all their scenes together with no distractions, but I’m enjoying their story much much better this way than watching it directly from the show) They knew we had great expectations for this season. Book 2 is probably the most loved by the fans, and they completely butchered the story. To finish my rant (I’m so sorry if you made it this far 🤣🤣) I’ll say the only good changes were 1) adding Mr Dorset, we at least got a few jealous Anthony scenes 2) the P&P references🥰 (we love a wet Anthony 😉 + I couldn’t sleep/nor could I) 3) the accident, to me it was more heart wrenching than in the book and we were able to see how much Kate means to Anthony (even if it is almost at the end 🙄, small victories I guess)

My own rent of Eloise (bear with me please): I liked Eloise exploring her political stands, especially that scene where she snaps on Violet that her rebellious exploration isn't just another skill she cultivates for the sake of catching some man's eye. Less liked it when she completely contradicts herself by doing exactly that. Yeah I didn't like Theo. first of all, about the scandal that happened because of it in the end. Why did she act so stupidly? No matter how rebellious she is, she lived in London for the the past 10 years, she should know how society works, and how it treats young unmarried women who so much as breathe in the same room with a man without a chaperone (as unfair as it is, considering how much freedom men have in comparison), she should have known exactly what would happen to her and her family if someone would find out. she just should have known better, or at least better than to get caught. she has no right to blame it all on Penelope, Lady W isn't the only gossip coloum, and gossip coloums aren't the only ones who gossip anyway, she would have been caught eventually. She had played with fire and got burned, and she has no one to blame but herself. Second, regardless of her reputation (and if we are being historically accurate, it's not at all something you disregard so easily), how does she have such little care for her physical safety? What if she met slightly less friendly people than Theo? she could have been robbed, she could have been kidnapped and ransomed (and the kidnapper could easily know where to send the ransom note, as she so carelessly drops her name in the assembly), she could have been attacked by someone who isn't a fan of the nobility. Any number of things could happen to her. No, at this point it isn't being bold, or brave, it's just being stupid. Thired, the plot goes so easy on her! She has some magical plot armor that protects her from being rubbed/attacked/anything whenever she goes to the City, with those clothes of her that just scream "look at me! I'm rich!". Somehow none of the stuff in the Bridgerton household rat her out to Violet (I know she bribed her Lady's maid with her pinn money, but what about the rest of the servents? How much pinn money does she have?!). As demonstrated last season, the staff knows all, and they are way more loyal to Violet than to Eloise, and even if they weren't, they should still be concerned at least for her safety. I also don't feel like the show properly conveys how much of a big deal the whole "must be a virgin to marry" thing was at the period. A ruined reputation isn't a misstep on the dancing floor, or an unflattering dress color, it doesn't just get forgotten after a week. Even though nothing had happened and Eloise is still a virgin, just being unchaperoned with a man (no matter what his social class) is enough to deem her unmarriageable. this type of scandal is the type that her family wouldn't recover from for years unless she got herself a husband very quickly, or completely cut all ties with them, or maybe both. And even if the Bridgertons just waited out the scandal to recover, she herself will most likely never get married (not that she will be so sad about it, I imagine). It's cruel, and unfair, but it's how things were for women at the time, and it's part of what separate a period drama from just normal dramas in modern settings. There should be some dealing with the aftermath of this scandal next season. Maybe there will be, we will see. Fourthly, my overall thought of the romance itself between Eloise and Theo- it just constantly felt like Eloise feels she must prove Theo something- that she isn't just a shallow rich miss, that she is worthy of his time... I don't think she ever liked him as much as she liked stepping out of the boundaries society dictated for her, and finding someone who cares for her opinions. Maybe the fact she chooses to spend time with a man she knows she can't marry (or more specifically, one that her mother won't force her to spend time with in hope she will get married to him) is just a further testimony to her objection to marriage. Or maybe I am just a huge Phillip stand. But I am not even hyped anymore to see Eloise with Phillip. Or with anyone. It's a different version of Eloise from the books. I am not sure yet which Eloise I prefer, maybe I like them both, but what I do know is that this Eloise just wants to be single forever. She could change her mind, but either the writers will have to put their back into it, or it would look extremely out of character and would disappoint many people who are already invested in this character as a forever-single, independent (possibly asexual) woman Lastly, I love Eloise, but I don't want her to be just a rebellious teenager for the entire show, or some holy paragon of feminism, or an inexplicably modern point of view for 19th-century England, that just constantly reminds you that after all, this is a tv show that was created in the 21th century, for a 21th-century audience, who has one specific idea of what a "Strong Woman" should look like. She deserves to be more than a label.

I did really love the book but besides the fact that they should have given us more couple scenes and kept kate's backstory(kate scared in the library) , i actually loved this season..for me , the lack of sex scenes was not an issue because the chemistry and build up was intense and beautiful. I am actually happy they changed the forced marriage plot because even while reading the books, the trope had felt like a copy of the first book. I even liked the way they changed the dynamics between the sister. It shows a parallel with anthony and daphne in season 1. It made the similarity between kate and anthony more evident. But , yes episode 6 could definitely have been made shorter. The slow burn was addictive and kept me yelling with frustration. I never thought that a thigh glimpse or scent inhale or just looks of longing could be so damn erotic . Jonathan Bailey's acting surpassed and elevated Anthony's backstory. He made me cry so much . The way he looks at Kate like he wants to devour her is beautiful. Simone ashley was a great Kate and she was just so effortless and natural, but johnathan bailey was definitely the highlight of the season. For me, the slow burn was done so well that i did not mind the lack of sex. I actually preferred it to season 1 because when they finally give in to their feelings, it is much more satisfying. The marked difference in Anthony's demeanour from the tensed and unhappy man with a furrowed brow to the relaxed and contended man that we see at the end was fantastic. Since the actors have confirmed they are coming in following season , i think we will get to see them as a couple then. Fingers crossed 🤞

Coming from someone who did not read the books I loved season 1. I watched season 2 yesterday and while I loved the angst and tension between the two I found myself getting so frustrated with how little romance there was. I loved both characters, I mean you could just FEEL their chemistry and angst however it felt so underwhelming when after all that build up the spicy scenes were practically fade to black. I was like "after all that waiting and tension...that's it??" Idk I have really mixed feelings about this season. It's like the couple it was focusing on almost took a back burner to the other stories going on unlike the first season, which is sad. I really loved watching him fall for her and I wish we could've seen them together more. Anthony had way more spicy scenes in the first season then his OWN romance love story which is honestly a real let down. 😢

Though this was not my favorite book of the series, I liked the book better than the show. I was disappointed in how they treated the main story, though I did enjoy the side stories a lot more. I think they did Anthony & Kate dirty (and I missed the 🌶 of the first season). ☹️

I actually really enjoyed this season. I need to re-watch season 1 but as of right now I definitely like season 2 more! I preferred the slow burn angsty feel to kate and Anthony. unpopular opinion but I really like Eloise and Theo’s brewing romance thing (I’m not sure if it will continue it in season 3..but I hope so). I LOVED lady Featherington in the last ep. I had a feeling that’s how that situation would end up but I loved seeing it play out. definitely feel like they set up Penelope and Colin to be the focus of the next season. loved the video ❤️❤️

S1 did pretty decent job of remaining true to the book where as in Season 2 it almost feel like it's completely different story. One major complaint I have is that they changed the dynamic between the Sharma Sisters and unnecessarily dragged out some scenes. The wedding scenes was dragged on for so long. We didn't really get to watch Kate & Anthony together. I am a sucker of Slow Burns but their scenes in the end are barely 10 mins I feel robbed of KANTHONY! The editing was not good...one moment we are having a scene filled with sexual tension & then it just cuts to some different scene. I liked the Lady Whistlesdown drama. Eloise & Theo are a interesting plot too. I want season 3 asap because now I am excited to see which couple will be the center focus & Shonda Rhimes has said in some interview that the show won't necessarily follow the order of books.

I haven’t read the books so my opinion is based only on the series and I have to say BEST SEASON!! I’m so glad they married after they both said “I love you” to each other and it wasn’t a rushed marriage like season 1.. and the bee scene based on what you said that happens in the book thank god it didn’t turned into a forced marriage scene.. and they confirmed they’re gonna be on the following seasons so I guess we’re gonna see them happily married alongside the other siblings stories so that’s great! Overall their chemistry was out of this world and I loved the fact that we had the heavy breathing, the intense staring and touches between them rather than the raw sex scenes we had in season 1..! Btw great breakdown I enjoyed seeing your thoughts right after each episode!

I ended season 2 with the feeling that I'd only rewatch the last 3min of the last episode and rewatch the Edmund scenes. Why? Because from episode 5 to 8, the love triangle, the Bridgerton's scandal, and the love triangle went on way TOO long and made the show plot repetitive, slow, unnecessarily messy, and unromantic. I read the books, and I don't think everything has to be like the book, but certain characteristics and plotlines should not be dismantled to the point of detriment. For instance, I hate when the main couple is not given time to live out some part of their romance AFTER the confusion clears and they are finally together. I hate this to happen in any romance. One reason to read romance is to see the main couple live through the conflict, and then get together! Together, being a couple, so that the reader/ watcher believes in and is able to watch how the two LIVE TOGETHER! OTHERWISE, AN EPILOGUE IS NEEDED. LOL! I am okay that this season had less steam. But, Kate and Anthony should have been allowed to start their lives and LIVE TOGETHER within their marriage for the better part of at least one episode! NOT for just 3 minutes at the end of the last episode. UGH. Johnathan Bailey was the stand out actor for me. He made me like Anthony way more and this was only shadowed by the fact that the writer put Anthony in a love triangle that almost tarnished his character. The book Anthony was too decisive to ever let that mess go on for too long. Yet, Johnathan Bailey portrayed Anthony's drive and believability with much more power than Simone Ashley with her portrayal of Kate, IMO!

It's because Kate and Anthony will be couple in Season 3, 4, 5, and so on. So I kinda get why they keep the yearning longer. Because in the next seasons we will be bombarded with married Kanthony moments 😭

I haven’t read any of the books so I don’t have really very many expectations. I did really like a lot of things about this season. I do feel like Kate and Anthony’s story gets kind of lost in the later episodes and we lose some momentum in their relationship, but they did have a lot of good tension. I think that the writing felt a little bit different this season for some reason. Like a lot happened but a lot of the episodes seemed kind of dragged out. I almost think if they had either cut some time or cut down the number of episodes it could’ve been a tighter season. I kind of wish that they would’ve had Simon in this season for a few reasons, but I really wanted a scene with Simon and Anthony where Simon is like, hey stop being an idiot, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be happy, especially since that was his whole arc last season. I didn’t think we needed so much from the Featheringtons, I feel like they really stretched that out. I wish they’d spent more time on Will and his club as well. I did like that they kind of gave Colin some closure with Marina. I like that they’re setting up he and Pen’s relationship and I kind of hope they are they main couple next season. Anthony made me cry multiple times this season. I think he did such a good job acting and I actually really liked to see how much having to take over for his family at such a young age really traumatised him and it made a lot of his actions make sense. I hope he is still around next season. Edit: also as someone who hasn’t read the books I’m not super invested in how accurate it is. I’m kind of hoping that they will go the more princess and the pauper route with Eloise because I feel like it makes sense with her character they’ve created in the show. I’m hoping actually that they will have Benedict explore his sexuality which I something I think they hinted at him at least being curious about in the first season. I mean there’s 8 Bridgerton kids and it’s 2022, at least one of them should be kind of gay I think haha.

I agree with so many of the comments! Another big source of confusion for me is how they are going to get Eloise with Phillip. I mean we are going to be so much more invested in what happens to Marina now and it will make Penelope complicit if they do it like the book. Yet another way Penelope's character has been damaged, whereas in the books Whistledown plays a much less damaging role. Like, do I even like Penelope right now? I just struggle with that major character additions/changes with both Marina and Penelope.

I think that episodes 1 to 4 were good but the wedding was way too long and it started to deviate too much. The romance was suppose to be between Kate and Anthony and we got a bunch of random side plots instead. I enjoyed the longing and near touches cause that is a huge part of historical romance but eventually you do have to get on with it. I felt there should have been at least one more sex scene to help cement things more than that rushed finale to their relationship. Season 1 really brought the spirit of romance to a wide audience. With this season it seems they got scared that popular opinion would hate too much sex or actual romance happening. They are adapting a romance novel, it should be about their journey, including their passion.

As a book reader, i hate the way their build up for colin season. Colin should be the one who caught lady whistledown and their whole dynamic around that. But in this season lady whistledown was a big deal already and kinda overshadow Kate and Anthony. What they are gonna tell more in Collin season? They dragged whistledown story arc too much already (not to mention the whole mess with eloise and whistledown this season)

As an isolated show, this was a very good season, but when you’ve read and loved the books, I feel quite disappointed. Kate and Anthony is my favorite Bridgerton book, and the show took away so much of what I loved about their relationship. Where was all of the witticism and humor from the books? One scene (the mudbathing) is not enough. I understand the show has to cover ALL of the characters and the Regency universe, but I feel almost cheated of the Kate/Anthony-relationship from the book. The bee-scene was sooo underwhelming, and for all the building up over 8 episodes of sexual tension, we get very so little at the end?! I realize as I write this, that I probably set myself up for disappointment, being so excited to see Kate and Anthony on the screen, having loved the book so much 😂 Well, it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️ Loved a lot about the show, but not what was supposed to be the main romance..

Such a great video Jess! So I finished the book on Thursday and I’m just not the biggest fan of the book. So maybe I’d feel more passionately if I loved it. I liked the show! I am really good at separating an adaption from the book/movie. Overall opinions- I loved the actors who played Kate and Anthony!! Anything with them in it I loved it. I think they took it too far for the with the engagement and wedding. I also wanted more sister moments, but I’m so happily everything came around in the end. I actually really liked that this had less sex! It felt more focused on the sexual chemistry and the intimacy. But I’m always a less spice and more romance person. I would’ve like to see less drama and more romance with Kate and Anthony. However, I think we’ll see more of them throughout the series and even the actress said Kate and Anthony’s story is really just beginning. So they’ll make up for it I think throughout the show! Overall, I enjoyed it! And had a good time watching it. I always think it’s best to have fun and try to separate the books from the adaption.

I took a sick day off from school to watch it and I LOVED ITTT! There were a few big changes from the books like Edwina's reaction, the bee scene was a bit lacking and Eloise finding out about Penelope, and Anthony calling off the wedding while Edwina is walking down the isle. Also in the books Kate married Anthony kinda halfway through the books and then after is te Anthony doesn't wanna love problem, and the Kate accident was no where as angsty as in the book. Also I also really missed the thunderstorm scene where Anthony comforts Kate when she's having a panic attack. Also Eloise and the newspaper guy was not in the books. I LOVED the scenes where they share secret looks and smiles and touches, BUT THE ENDING THOUGH..... (the last 3 min) IT WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE!!!! Like the endings you want in a book but then put in a real life scene.

I watched it yesterday because I’m home sick. What I loved: - I loved the Sharma/Sheffield backstory - The chemistry between Anthony and Kate - Anthony. The actor did a phenomenal job - Lady Danbury and Violet and Queen Charlotte - Edwina. She had more to do in tv show than the book - Seeing Sir Phillip, Hyacinth, and Gregory more so - The push/pull within Anthony and Kate, the angst!!! - The flashback about what happened to Edmund - Benedict’s character growth What I didn’t like: - Eloise and Penelope fight - Eloise and the printer - Colin. I don’t like Colin. - How they changed the bee sting scene - How they did not include Anthony’s fear and how they changed the Kate’s fear - The wedding because how it drawn out. This excludes the kiss, Queen Charlotte and Edwina. - The Featherington subplot I think they did a good job. I knew they were going to change things, because they needed 8 full episodes. It’s a different format. I loved season 2, especially compared to season 1. Episodes 4 and 8 are my favorite from the season.

I feel like most of the comment sections on season 2 review videos are all people who have read the books and are disappointed it’s not the same. Im not invalidating that opinion at all, but I just thought I’d add my two cents that as someone who has never read the books, I LOVED this season. I liked the overall season and the couple way more that season 1. I agree that I wish there was more of Kanthony and that things were drawn out a bit longer than preferable but I loved the slow burn tension. Based on what others are saying about the books, I agree that I wish Edwina and Anthony’s engagement didn’t go as far and that there wasn’t a love triangle. But taking it for what it was and considering that it is a popular Netflix tv show (inevitable that they stray from the books) I absolutely adored it. Is it worth it to read the books? I’ve heard conflicting thoughts and I’m not sure I want to read about misogynistic toxic masculine men (this is just what I’ve heard).

Having read and watched a lot of period romances especially set in the Regency Era, I was never one to care on the exact amount of love scenes or even the amount of romantic tension. I only cared about the balance of it as intimacy is used as an ADDITIONAL SUPPORT to the developing romance between the hero and heroine. Honestly, I didn't mind when Bridgerton S2 announced that they would have less love scenes and that the steam would be kept at the minimum as long as there was a balance of intimacy and point of actual confession in the culmination of the romance between the two characters. I didn't like how they DRAGGED THE ROMANCE TIL THE VERY END. It was frustrating as it made me feel ... robbed. What I love about romance is that when there is romantic tension building up and at some point and climax of the story, this tension snaps. Over the episodes, I waited for that snap.... it didn't happen. Even though it technically did in the ep 7? or 8? , it didn't feel right. Also, I hated how the story went in the last episodes especially the SELF-SABOTAGING (bruh it doesnt even make sense). Major plot points were thrown from the series as well as story arcs of the characters have also changed. They've basically rewritten the whole book since they removed defining traits that were substantial to the romance(i.e Kate's fear of thunderstorms, Anthony's fear of mortality, Kate feeling insecure with the marriage of convenience, Anthony afraid of love). I mean these transcended from their courtship to their actual marriage which made me love book 2 since it showed how love grows in a relationship. I didn't see this in S2 since it was all sexual tension(which I get, yes, it is powerful, but that alone does not drive the plot). I honestly wouldn't mind if they retained the story even though it had a similar pattern with S1(which I guess may be the reason for the rewriting) since the marriage of convenience for Kanthony was the best bit. Plus it's regency, isn't that how scandals were discovered back then? Plus, how could they turn Edwina into a different route, they did the love triangle thing which is an overused trope. It was one of my main reasons in loving the book since we find someone who supposedly was expected to fall for the hero but instead ships the main couple and was even rooting for them. Plus, if you want yearning without steam done right, check out P&P 2005's rain scene. (cured me from my disappointment honestly)

I saw this video's title and was like SAME lol. *waves goodbye to self control* I'm glad they didn't include anthony's 'I'll die young because my father died young' thing, I always thought it was a very weak plot point. Loooved the pall mall scene, but I was very disappointed with the library scene. Kate doesn't like the storm because it reminds her of her dad reading to her during monsoons? Ugh. No. That scene was so necessary to add a lot of depth to their relationship and I think they butchered it. Loved edwina's acting towards the end, but I think the resolution felt too abrupt. I really wanted the marriage of convenience thing to take place but oh well. When they finally got together I was hoping for a scene of them getting married! I was so sad they only did a time jump! Ugh! Btw somehow daphne's acting is still the best and felt the most natural compared to everybody else, even though she was a rather minor character this time around. Loved the eloise-penelope plot twist, they really set up season 3 nicely. Their acting was on point! Colin's mean comment about Pen felt like it was a last minute addition though, which sucked and could've been played out a lot better. In any case, season 3 looks like it will be an angsty roller coaster and I love it 😂

Completely agree with everything you said about episode 8! As a fan of the books, I was hoping for a little more with Kate and Anthony.
