💗 Tip for all of these techniques: Rather than blowing out with an O shape of the lips - relax the mouth open like a soft Ahhh... (similar to a sigh of relief.) The pelvic floor and mouth are connected and mirror each other - so when you close your mouth or purse your lips into an O (like blowing out a candle) that automatically creates a similar contraction of the pelvic floor. Whereas, when you relax your jaw completely and exhale with an Ahhh (can be audible or silent), that automatically relaxes the pelvic floor and creates a softening and widening sensation that allows for a much easier passage of your baby without tearing. 💗💗💗

Personally I preferred giving birth while on my back. I couldn’t move into a different position because I was in too much pain lol. 2 big tips from a veteran momma (4 births, 3 med free) is DO NOT scream during contractions. Moan and groan. Drop your jaw and vocalize. When you start screaming you tense up. Which leads to my next tip is to keep your body relaxed. If your jaw and hands are clenched then your body is tense and you can’t move baby down. Luckily the pushing stage only lasted a few minutes for me.

Ended up having it at home alone in my hot tub because my husband was on the way back from work and didn't arrived until the baby was already here. 6 hrs of labor and all that time i never felt i needed any medication or anything. I actually didn't realized i was in labor until like 30 mins before baby was born. I thought were braxton contracting. I used your breathing technique the whole time. Thank u. U are wonderful. 6 hrs labor, 13 mins pushing. I'm officially a vbac momma now and I successfully achived an unassisted, natural home birth.

I just wanted to stop by and thank you so much for these videos! I had my baby boy last week, and my entire labor was 9.5 hours (and I am a first time mom). I had to be induced, but my cervix was soft before the induction was started. The breathing techniques helped me go through most of the labor beautifully, and I believe the reason why I had some issues coping towards the end was that I did not realize I was already in the final stages of labor and was using the wrong breathing technique! Nobody, me included, expected I would progress so quickly, but I did have a contraction after contraction in the last couple of hours. I am so happy that I was able to do it all without epidural and looking back, the labor was much easier and less painful than I ever imagined it would be!

I remember watching this to prepare for my delivery. I was so nervous since this was my first baby. It was pretty crazy but it was a long near 16 hours of labor. The contractions at first felt like mild gas but when my body was finally in go mode? My baby boy came into this world finally in 3 hours. The day was a blur. I vomited a few times passed out a few times but I did it all naturally and as a result I came out of it healthy my baby boy came out healthy and I had a very minor tear that didn't even need stitches. My recovery time was quick I was up and wanting to move the next morning my midwife scolded me since I even felt good enough to do laundry lol overall it was an experience and to be honest I would do it again. That baby truly is the payoff ladies.

I had little idea that a random week of my usual appointment check up would be my last. A hcp called me to say to go to the hospital Pronto last Friday for being induced because of my baby being small/ growth restriction concerns. Ended up pushing for 40 ish mins and even though I got a little flustered I was able to think back to your videos, calm down and breathe effectively. My girl came last Saturday(a week ish more early than the due date) at 5 lbs and 10 ounces . Thank you for creating amazing content and continuing to do so 💕

Exactly six weeks ago, about half an hour after my first contractions started, I quickly searched youtube for breathing during labor techniques and found this video. My labor was super short - 3.5 hours in total from the first contraction to when he was out - so I never made it past the first 'destressor' technique, but that one technique saved the day for me. I used it the whole time, from my living room to the delivery room (technically a waiting room next to the delivery room since everything happened so fast and I never actually made it to a delivery room) and it really was a lifesaver. Thanks so much.

This video was a lifesaver. I watched it during the day and that evening went into labor and then used this technique through every single contraction! Very very thankful for this!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Bridget for your meditation audio's, breathing & laboring techniques, I pretty much went though your whole playlist of meditation during labor repeatedly. I was one of the fortunate ones, I had an amazing birthing experience with the help of your advice and recommendations which you produced through your you tube vids. I wanted to have a natural unmedicated birth & I was laughed at by friends and family, but it only made me stronger & I achieved just that by staying positive and in control of each surge while embracing every moment as much as I could. Towards the end of my labour it was a little overbearing (@7cm dilated ) almost went for the epi, but I was told that it's time to push, three pushes and my little baby girl entered the world safely 3 months ago.. I also used the breathing techniques advice you recommended when not to push (to avoid tearing) worked very well but I felt like I was hyperventilating, had to remind myself to be aware & stay in control and postive.. Fear left me that day and I was in control.. Had a fantastic team around me, my husband was amazing kept on reminding me to breath (as we practiced) through each surge and the exercise ball was a +++, I stayed active during my labor as much as possible.. I strongly recommend your advice to mummies to be.. Thank you so much for making such educative and safe content especially for new time mummies.. Thank you & stay blessed .. ❤️

Hi, Bridget! I just wanted to reach out and thank you for everything that you do. Your channel was such a help to me through my pregnancy and I wanted to let you know that you are doing so much good for all of us first time moms! I was put on bed rest at 30 weeks and was not able to make it to any child birth classes. My body had been showing signs of preterm labor since 25 weeks and we were very nervous that our baby was going to make an early appearance. I eagerly started searching for help to try and get prepared for delivery early and that’s when I came across your channel. Over the next 6 weeks I watched just about every video that you had and was feeling more and more confident with each one that I watched. The way you approach things and the way you explain them in such a joyful and positive manner helped me feel so good about what was to come! I had been planning an all natural delivery and you helped me feel that I could do it. But I also remembered what you said about not holding on too tightly to your birth plan. My baby ended up going full term (thank God!) and I went into labor at 39 weeks. I was ready to go and knew what to do, but when labor went much longer than expected, I had a choice to make and remembered your video about the pros and cons of epidurals. I remember you saying to do whatever was needed to have a positive birth experience, regardless of what that looks like. I labored for 26 hours with no pain medicine before I had spent everything I had and knew I needed the epidural if I was to continue. After 33 hours of labor, our beautiful baby boy finally arrived, and after how much I hadn’t wanted an epidural, it was honestly the thing that saved me and I couldn’t have been more thankful for it. Thank you for how you made me feel supported, regardless of what ended up happening. Our baby is happy and healthy and I feel like I learned so much from! I hope you feel encouraged today as you continue to encourage all the rest of us!

I am a mom of 3 boys. My baby girl is due on June 18th. My third pregnancy I had a moment where I forgot how to push when I had to do my first push. I remember everything else but panicked for a sec. Luckily I had amazing nurse re walk me through it. I really like this breathing technique. Tonight I’m kinda tuning up so I don’t go through that again. I work full time overnights and it’s my last weekend working I made it to 38weeks. We count are steps at work. We have a three level medical building. I walk about 7 miles per shift. so I took my break and saw this video and I’ve been mooing around between bells. I’ve Been watching your other videos this last week and I am so happy to find this one thank you for all your intel. I love knowledge and you have a lot of it. God bless.

I just birthed my 3rd baby 4 days ago, and my experience in breath was ENTIRELY different from my 1st two babies, even though I felt very prepared and accepting of the birth process. In this birth I felt so much less panicky and more accepting of the process. Especially when I hit transition, when I hit that wall of “I can’t do this, I don’t wanna do this” (ha!). I have been rewatching the video my mother took of me pushing my baby out, was so much more calm than my other two births, and it happened so fast! So I was kind of between “breathing my baby out” and actively pushing, but definitely followed my body’s and baby’s lead and it was an amazing experience.

For anyone reading this, as a mother who is a grand multipara... I can say this video is completely accurate!!!! "10 cm" does not mean your baby is ready to come out, unless there is an emergency do not pay attention to the practice of 10cm = ready to come out/push... coached pushing usually gets you straining unnecessarily....

I gave birth October 7th 2019. I was due October 12th. The weekend before my delivery day I watched your video. I'm here to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I'm a FTM and I used every technique you said. We got to the hospital and once they admitted me I started breathing and breathing. I wanted to go natural but I only lasted 9 hours until I couldnt take it anymore. I was 7 cm open thanks to you! All the nurses said I was doing really well and pretty much were implying I should keep going but I asked for the epidural. :P You helped me get through my pain. When it came to pushing the nurses had just switched shifts and I was super nervous. Luckily the nurse that just started her night shift gave my husband and I, a crash course on how to breathe and when to hold it during labor. I pushed my baby girl out in 11 minutes. I have to say you and my nurse gave me the best birth expeirence ever. During contractions I had told my mother in law this is it. This will be my only child. Then once my baby was delivered I told my nurse I'll do it all over again if youre my nurse. She laughed and said we'll have the same team.
