Motorhome Propane
We ran out of propane gas for our motorhome and had to unhook everything the next day to run out to our local supplier to fill-up. We take you along for the ride to see it in action. Cindy also talks about her knowledge with the propane tank parts. Always something to know with RVs. If you don't know, then learn.

Do you all turn off the propane when traveling? We usually dont, but plan to start.

I wired my inverter to my breaker box so I can run the fridge while driving in my trailer

This happens frequently when living in the RV that I need to learn something new. I've never had to do all this other stuff just being a weekend warrior. Tony is my back up when I can't fix something...he will. Definitely good to know for safety reasons. Hope your cute lil family is having a great summer. Thanks!🤠

When I got my coach all I had left on LP was the range top. I have a tank bigger than yours and it’s buried under the coach. I’m going to pull it out this winter. The weight of batteries make up for it and it has to go. My SO is happy with me doing all the work. She won’t even drive. I love her and she likes to go out in it so all’s good. Good on you for knowing all this.

Sounds like you don't need that big tank. Hope it's not too much of a hassle getting it out. We live in ours right now so a bigger tank would be nice. Glad you all enjoy RVing. I've never done so much mechanical/technical stuff until this past year. I enjoy it, but realize some other people may not. Thanks for your comment~ Cindy Lynn🤠

I work at an RV park I am certified to pump propane but it's rare when I have to do an LP. So I used your video to help me and it worked wonderfully thank you

You and Tony may want to consider installing an emergency gas stop valve to the motorhome propane tank. It's a reasonably priced unit available on Amazon. It only takes about 3 minutes to install. You might consider making a video of this, too! Thanks for this informative video! And yes, the significant 'other' should learn to take care of their RV just like you are doing! Good job! (Tony may need to get you your own tool box for Christmas :)!

Hey Walter! Just yesterday I brushed up against the stove knob again and it accidentally turned the gas on. Tony told me he came out of the bathroom and smelled the propane and turned it off. I've done this a few times and its scary. I need that emergency shut off valve for sure. Thanks for the suggestion! I do have a small toolbag, but Tony took it over..haha. I need to reconfiscate it from him. Hope you had a great weekend. 🤠✌

Thank you for the video...new RVer here...in the middle of the night ran out of propane got cold lesson learned to check gauges...lol. Will take to our neighborhood supplier maybe tomorrow for a refill. The sooner the better I suppose with the gas prices...lol✊🏾❤️❤️❤️✊🏾

We've all been there. We've also ran our batteries down to nothing causing the heater blower to stop working...It's a learning process. Congrats on the new RV.

Hey I’m in a class A it’s older but to keep from having to go fill they make a couple of names for it but an stay over kit or fittings that you can bypass this tank and also a splitter to have two of the portable tanks and one will show it’s empty and runs to the other one automatically and gives you time to get another and then you have your main so or you could use you main and then use these and when the last portable is being used as a reminder then you will be safe !

I added 2 30# tanks to mine along with the onboard tank and I run those… when empty I flip to onboard and take the tanks to fill. Bring them back and flip back over. Fill the onboard tank every few years. Very handy….

That's what I need to do! Or at least one. Only using for travel & vacation but just using the furnace overnight seems to burn quite a bit. Finding a U-Haul or Loves Travel Center isn't always convenient but they sure make an easy refill when you do! An extra bottle would be a game changer!

Where do you put the tanks? We were wanting to do this but with an older class c, it’s not like I can really stick it on the bumper.

Next compartment to the onboard tank. It T’s into the line with a valve and runs to the next compartment and I put the tanks in there and hook one up and turn the valve from onboard to 30# tank and carry on.

*At least yours ran out at a time that you could just drive somewhere to get it refilled. Mine ran out at 1:00 AM and NOTHING was open. bad side of that is it's 30 degrees out tonight. Luckily my older, much smaller RV that i just moved out of still had 1/4 tank of propane in it still so we're getting warm again now and that should hold us over until the stores open up later*

There are some downfalls to a stationary tank. Glad you were able to use the smaller tank. We miss that about not having a travel trailer anymore.

You very well discussed the Safety matters for us in your vid. I did notice though that the man filling your propane tanks not doing what some others have nicely 'recommended'. That is to check with soapy water the lines for leaks upon completion of the fill process. However, I know,.... no one ever seems to do it in the real life. But a few folks have mentioned it in their vids, just to emphasize the all important issue of Safety First. Thanks for your clarity of speech & well aimed camera shots because lots of vids are garbled, out of focus, thus hard to make out their points & suggestions.

How do you locate the propane filling stations?

Use Google Maps on your smart phone, turn on location and the search for Propane Supplier and they will pop-up. I change it to "sort by distance" to find the closest one. I call first to make sure they will stationary RV tanks...some don't. This method is how I found one only about 4 miles from us when we moved to our land. 🤠 Good question~ Cindy Lynn

Its at the 13:57 mark at the very end..haha. It was $78.93 for 21 gallons

You also have to certify your LP tank.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm assuming the company filling our tank is checking that..but not sure. Ours is a 2013 so hopefully it has several more years.

@@RVBarndominium Permanently mounted propane tanks do not need to be re certified. Just inspect the exterior of the tank yourself from time to time.

Masks were required inside the building and he put it on when he entered back in. I kept mine on because I waa going back and forth. I'm personally not fond of mask mandates and I'll just leave it at that.

The mask was required inside the building. I had to go in twice and just didn't take it off in between. I'm definitely not a fan of mask...then or now. The tech is actually the owner.🙂

This is from 2020 during mask mandates and nobody's scared. Also, we lived in the RV for 15months...not on vacation. Maybe you should comment on something a little more relevant to 2024.
