I remember in my history of art class we would look at civilizations and appreciate their artwork and call it a golden age. Then you would see artwork a few hundred years later and it was less quality and we would call that a dark age. We are in drifting into a dark age now. I met Brie Larson once while my daughter and I were out walking our dog. Brie was friendly and seemed very nice and relaxed. I'm not a fan of hers, but I think she gets wound up in interviews because she takes herself too seriously. Brie isn't a star, and that's not her fault: she's a character actor and can't carry a film. You've either got that star power or you don't, and she does not. I think a lot of her public bitchiness comes from the insecurity of her knowing, deep down, that she's not a star and is in over her head as the supposed new "head" of the MCU. The studio committed to her and told her she was going to be as big and as rich as Robert Downey, Jr. (who IS a star), and now they're backing away and she doesn't know what to do. It also doesn't help that Captain Marvel is written as a flawless Mary Sue, i.e., A Strong Woman Character. The audience needs to see some vulnerability in a character to like them, but by either the studio's or Brie's choice, she portrays Captain Marvel as this person who KNOWS she's going to win. They tried to lighten her up in Endgame when she met Spiderman: SPIDERMAN: Hey, I'm Peter Parker. MARVEL: Hey, Peter Parker, you got something for me? But then-- Spiderman hands over the gauntlet and an all-woman crew forges ahead with it because they are all Strong Women Who Don't Need No Man. Oh, Jesus Christ. Alternate scenario: Spiderman and Marvel work TOGETHER and Captain Marvel benefits by teaming up with the only Marvel character who is more likable and relatable than Iron Man. Captain Marvel saves Spiderman and Spiderman saves her, etc, an equal effort, two buddies fightin' evil and stuff. But that would mean Marvel needs A MAN (well, Peter's almost a man) and we can't have that! So the screenwriters and studio have painted Captain Marvel into a corner where she ALWAYS has to be Captain Perfect. And that is boring and off-putting when portrayed by an actress who has an indelible charisma deficit.

Back when Superman and Batman were getting their own films in 1978 and 1989, people were hoping for a superhero that was more accurate to the comic books. Nowadays when we hear that a comic book character is getting its own movie or TV show, we're expecting the worst, because we know it won't be exactly like what we're hoping for all those years ago, it'll be wasted and written by people who clearly don't care about the source material and just want to get paid. No wonder adaptations of western comic books have been so mediocre or awful lately.

I told a marvel drone at work that the newer movies and the new television series that they sucked. Why I call him a drone? He even said the she hulk series was good. He start to have a meltdown about it. I told him that they don’t respect the comics at all. For a little information, my job only hires adults so 18+ and above. I bought Captain Marvel on release (missed it at cinema) and went in with high hopes. Well. That was dashed pretty quickly. I reckon that movie, alongside other questionable societal shifts, made me realise the world was going down the crapper. As someone with GunnM (Battle Angel) comics on the shelf, Ghost in the Shell comics, and various other media with a lass main character... I still hate all these new-age "Girl Boss" movies because they're wrote like garbage... Show me Pixar's "Merida", Disney's Jane Porter, Early-Era Lara Croft, Heavenly Sword's "Nariko"... or Kat and Raven from Gravity Rush... This modern sh*t is tragic.

Captain Marvel was the first movie that made me sleep in a movie theater. And I have insomnia so sleeping is a fucking chore for me.

Still the most amazing thing is how the cast and stars of shows and movies these days can simply blame the audience for their miserable failures. It can never be that the movie or their acting could be the reason the show flopped!! No, it is because the audience isn't refined, or racist, or sexist. But with that level of personal accountability it is no wonder why Disney's stock is in the toilet!!!

As much as we hate seeing the overflooding of Superhero movies I dread the day mainstream Hollywood turns its eye Anime/Manga.

Marvel had this really good formula of introducing new characters in big get-together moments, like the avengers introducing Quicksilver, Vision and Scarlet Witch. Now they're just chucking random swill at us, with little to no connection to other established characters. I only knew of one "marvel" before this video, and she was already bad. They need to know their characters and let us know them too. Marvel is a big universe that can't really fit in the movies. Have characters retire, die offscreen etc to shrink the world down but keep the characters together and not on shows. If it takes 10 years until Antman/Wasp, Thor, Dr Strange, Spiderman and Valkarie to fight Kang, then so be it.
