Brief Political History of Suriname

This video explores the history of Suriname and explores how it ended up being the only Dutch colony in the South American mainland and the ways its society became a distinctly multi-ethnic and multicultural place. It begins with its first inhabitants, traces the way it became a plantation economy and how it achieved its independence in 1975. It continues with its post-independence struggles, the dictatorship of Bouterse and efforts to hold him accountable. It ends with current President Chan Santokhi.

As much as i liked your video, certain parts were inaccurate, but that is to be expected since a lot of information about suriname on the internet is not correct or lacking context.

In my life timeline, I have nothing to show anything that would give me any political views period regardless of where, when and how. You may wonder why? I simply never had any personal interest in such matters however, I am capable of reducing everything to the most common default conclusion, on behalf of those like myself, being not politically motivated and that is that when all is at the non politically motivated people's level of life's needs and desires, all is well and negotiable until politically motivated people intrude and interfere with what works best for the common people? Hmmm really, no, with what works best for the agendas behind politics!! The information I carefully peruse, will never divide me from my most natural ability to understand the struggle of mankind...being a struggle only created by those who try to manipulate and change things for the benefit of "business" and the powers that are needed to make business happen.! Indeed, a very interesting brief of the History of Suriname, the birthplace of my mothers father, my grandfather.
