You must have made a real impression on Feige when you auditioned for Iron man 2 and Thor. Its rumored Feige is always thinking about which actor is right for certain MCU characters. The oscar cemented the role for Captain Marvel. Feige knew what a huge role this was, what it would mean to so many and all the pressure it would come with. And as hard as all of that rejection was, it built you up to become Captain Marvel.

Or the fact that people being here in the first place means it was an opportunity for Larson to prove people's assumptions/discontent wrong, and she's failed to do that. Naw. We're all here because we so jealous of big ole Bwie Larson. Can't wait to see Captain Marvel 2.

......................kid. The point of "Practice" is to fail and learn how to accomplish something in a safe environment. The point where Failure becomes a problem is when you fail at the thing you've been practicing for. At that point is when personal willpower comes into play whether or not you learn from your mistakes to improve or to let that failure define you. THAT is how reality works. THAT is what those words mean. Just rewriting reality around to make important things seem trivial does NOT HELP ANYONE. In fact, it degrades us all.

Maybe, but as someone who can appreciate a good performance within a not so good movie, I still relish the opportunity to see good actors more often rather than less. I have seen plenty of good or great performances in films that were not necessarily the best. Good acting exist within not so good movies.

She's exactly the actress we needed for Captain Marvel. I love the women of the MCU, but Brie embodies to unapologetic outspoken vibe we need for a female driven movie. She makes people uncomfortable because she's not afraid to say what she believes. You're the PERFECT choice to head this new phase of the MCU.

You should check out the 10 year anniversary Scott Pilgrim table read. It was a charity event, and most of the actors and actresses returned, including Chris Evans. Brie Larson did not attend though.

I think his point was that since everybody is in quarantine then she should have been there unless there was some dirt. Which isn't true since it was still a scheduling issue. Or maybe there is some dirt but who really cares, do we really live our lives based on celebrity gossip? I rewatched the movie and read the comic instead anyway. But that was totally sympatico that she'd see the adult video awards before the audition, that really really made that movie. The movie would have been even better if it had more of the comic in it.

I love how Brie talks about Captain Marvel. And her saying she didn't initially want to take this opportunity because she's introverted is very relatable for me. Personally, I really liked Captain Marvel. When I came out of the cinema I was giddy and excited and felt like I could take on the world for one night. And I guess that's what it's really all about. So I hope all the backlash and incredibly stupid hate didn't dampen Brie's excitement for the project and that she can just ignore all of that.

As an actor who has been stuck in a mental rut since the start of this pandemic, I have to say your Audition Storytime videos gave me renewed motivation and guidance. Please do more similar videos! Long story short, driving my toddler daughter to the ER, and keeping her talking, as they were adamant I had to pull over and call an ambulance if she dozed off, in the midst of her tears, she asked me if she was brave like Captain Marvel...of course I teared up as I assured her she was, and strong too. A week later she got to have her picture taken with a Captain Marvel cosplayer and she was absolutely speechless. You rock. Thank you .

People feel some kind of right to criticize others and just assuming it came easy for the person they are criticizing. Captain Marvel came out 2019, so preproduction was probably around 2017/2018. Brie is born 1989. So she was 30 at the time of the release and 28 or 29 when the movie was in (pre-) production 2017/2018.

I remember reading that Brie was Marvel’s first and only choice for Captain Marvel, so that’s probably why they were so persistant. (Also shoutout Brie’s team for not telling Marvel no and helping her come out of her shell by auditioning for CM)

Genuinely, thank you so much Bre. I want to become an actress so bad, it's the only career I can see myself visibly having. I can see it so well. I'm in college right now taking different classes for acting and I am also memorizing different monologues or scenes from shows and doing them in my mirror with my own twists. Those audition tips and you showcasing the jobs you didnt get, gave me a sense of clarity and peace knowing that everyone can get rejected from time to time and it's all about if it was meant to be, then it will happen. So thank you for videos like these!! They help me, and I'm SURE others as well ❤

Brie's Captain Marvel story is very similar to Chris Evans' It's so hard to fathom that Brie & Chris both suffer from anxiety but manage to work in their industry. As a sufferer of extreme anxiety myself since my teens (now 42) I get cold sweats even thinking about acting its also so difficult to accurately explain anxiety to a person that has never experienced it and can lead to some super frustrating and awkward interactions which in themselves cause anxiety. Its like a never ending cycle. My hat is off to you Brie, being able to find a way past it while doing what you do is just pretty momentus!

Your story about auditioning for Captain Marvel reminded me of Chris Evans and his anxiety about accepting the role of Captain America. He also stated somewhere that he repeatedly refused the role. Thank God you both ended doing it and making those characters come to life in such a beautiful way!💖

@Brie Larson our process to becoming Captain Marvel is very similar to Chris Evans's becoming Captain America. He also felt major anxiety and pressure for the role, that he turned it down multiple times as well.

I really like the "As Soon As You Walk In" point. Cos I imagine the casting directors are so pressed for time, they're immediately hungry for clues and are particularly sensitive to your own real world vibes matching the character's. I'm sure first impressions are a great time saver for them and they're actively looking to get as many auditions out the way as possible.

This maybe the most helpful candid presentation of the process and truth of the job. I am going to send this link to any highschool/college drama teacher to show their students and literally EVERY young actor I come across. Thank you for making this Brie - not only is this the perfect time to deconstruct the audition process but also a valuable resource as we move into a new era of content creation that may in fact lead to re-looking at the system and what things are archaic or not positive for future creators.
